Fudge Clean Blonde Damage Rewind Treatment

Ive never used a blonde treatment product before. I wasn't sure if I use this product after I've used the Fudge Clean Blonde Shampoo and Conditioner, or on its own. I chose to use this straighter after the Shampoo and Conditioner, as the trial time was short. This treatment is just as violet pigmented as the Fudge Clean Blonde Shampoo. As I had just finished with the Shampoo and Conditioner, I was really scared I would end up with purple hair afterwards. But I followed instructions, left it on as instructed. I was pleasantly surprised there was no violet tones to my hair like I was worried for. Now I really think this combined with the Fudge Clean Blonde Damage Rewind Shampoo and Conditioner, has really saved my hair. Before these products my hair was dry and looks damaged, it would break easily. Now it's looking a whole lot healthier, less dry, and a very clean Blonde, which is what I strive to achieve. I'm so impressed. I will definitely be buying this product in the future and adding it to my hair routine.

Bit of background: I have darker blonde hair that I bleach once every two months to go platinum. My hair tends to go brassy/yellow and has become quite dry, brittle, and falls out; so I was very excited to trial this product. Other purple products just don’t do it for me.

Jumping right in…

Packaging: comes in a 200ml 100% recyclable squeeze bottle. Price: expensive as far as treatments go, so you would expect this to really do what it says it will do. Consistency: creamy, deep purple, spreadable. Fragrance: a nice, subtle fragrance that does not linger long or transfer to clothes or bedding. Application and coverage: easy to apply throughout my medium length hair, just a dollop work through for a wee while does the trick. Can stain your hands for a bit but that washes off as you continue showering. Results: great results! The entire range is super strong which is impressive, however it’s so strong that it tends to dye my platinum blonde bits purpler, so be careful of this. Try not to leave these products in for too long. In saying that, the brassy bits have become much lighter, my hair IS shinier and stronger (even after the first wash). It doesn’t weight your hair down at all, and really helps with the damage caused by hair dye.

I was super lucky to be able to trial this hair treatment(thanks BR) and wanted to put it to the test so the first time I used it I only used this product and nothing else following so I could see the true effect of the hair treatment on my hair. After applying, I left it in my hair for a few minutes as per the directions. The product smelt great, and was easily applied to my hair. Being a toning treatment it was dark purple in colour. When rinsing I could already feel how soft and smooth my hair was. After it air drying with no other hair products used my hair was nicely toned, felt amazing and looked great. I had less frizz and my hair looked smooth and hydrated. It had a nice shine to it and overall just looked healthier . Definitely purchasing and is a new fav in my hair care routine.

I really wanted to love this treatment as it would cover all the bases-toning and moisture treatment all in one. I found it was a nice texture, it massaged in nicely and washed out well. In conjunction with the other two products my hair is toned to perfection. I did not find it particularly moisturising and my hair felt quite dry. I am interested to use it alongside other shampoo to see how it performs (unfortunately trial timeframe hasn’t given me time for that but will add to this later!)

I expected this too be quite strong but it's fairly light touch in terms of toning in my opinion. I also found it to be quite a thin consistency. It doesn't seem overly moisturizing either.

I was most excited about this product out of the 3 very generously sent in the BR trial. It makes sense to have a deep violet toning product in the conditioner/mask stage of hair care because it is the last product in contact with your hair before rinsing everything away in the shower. I was really happy with the pigment of the Fudge Treatment and it seemed to provide toning properties.

But as a hair mask/treatment with that infamous ‘plex’ labelling, I was sorely disappointed. It didn’t add any extra manageability, strength or shine. It felt like a normal and very average conditioner. To be fair, the Fudge shampoo had left my locks in such a state of dry distress that it was going to take a seriously impressive product to restore what has been stripped away. But this just wasn’t as heavy duty as I needed it to be.

I see in the description of the Fudge treatment it claims to use “FragranceFuse” technology to lock in a pleasant aroma. The smell was nice, but I didn’t notice it lasting any longer than a standard shampoo fragrance.

This treatment mostly does what it says it does, and it's a great product to use alongside the Fudge Clean Blonde Damage Rewind Shampoo and Conditioner. I would recommend it to anyone who has damaged blonde hair, but I'm still on the fence about how much I love it compared to the Shampoo and Conditioner in the same range. After one use I did notice a difference in the tone of my hair, the brassiness was definitely gone, and it did feel stronger, but it didn't really feel as hydrated as I'd hoped. My hair felt a bit dry and frizzy and when wet, was left with the fragrance which to me, was a bit more of a chemically smell as opposed to the lovely fragrance of the Damage Rewind shampoo and conditioner. As far as usage goes, it's definitely easy to use and the consistency isn't bad. I'm not sure I would use it with every wash though just for the fact that I don't like the smell and my hair felt softer without it. But in saying that, it mostly does what it says it does, so I can't really complain!

My balayage coloured hair is incredibly stubborn - it does not like to be blonde. So every time I get my balayage redone at the salon, I end up with pesky yellow orange hues through the mid section. Last salon visit I needed to go back and get a toner reapplied as it looked so bad and even once being fixed, it still just wasn't right. Then came this treatment. It is seriously incredible! I knew as I was applying it that it was going to work as I could see the tone of my hair changing as I covered it. I left it on for a good 10 minutes, rinsed, followed with the Fudge shampoo and conditioner and was blown away with the results. No more yellow! Even my husband could see the difference! It is very rare to find a product that works better than a salon toner so I will 100% repurchase this in the future. As well as doing an incredible job with toning, it also left my hair with that salon-fresh, soft, healthy feel and a lovely scent. I feel I had to use quite a lot of product to cover all bases but this is my only gripe. I also prefer my treatments to come in a tub form so it's easier to get out all traces of the product but this is not a deal breaker.
