Garnier Fructis Hair Food Aloe Shampoo and Conditioner

I have left a review on both items, but after a week of use I thought I would leave another review. Sometimes hair takes a little to adjust to a new regime and sometimes you can feel the difference straight away. This is definitely a product that you feel immediately and I don’t like it. Progressively my hair got worse over the week and coated it. I straightened it and could feel the coating being burnt off… ya girls know what I mean when it sizzles and smells funky! I do like the product amount and how the bottles aren’t Taking up room in the shower. Overall I wouldn’t purchase or recommend as I gave this shampoo & conditioner a really good go and it just was …uneventful.

Shampoo: The smell is pleasantly floral and the shampoo has a thick consistency. It lathers well enough but I have the niggly feeling that my hair doesn't feel clean. I usually do two washes, the first one to get a lot of the surface dirt and grime off, the second to massage the scalp. After washing, my hair feels different compared to other 0% silicone shampoos I've used.

Conditioner: Oddly a bit on the runny side so was a bit difficult coating my hair. It smells vaguely perfumed but not anything that I can pinpoint. I leave it in for a few minutes before I rinse it off. It doesn't feel slick in my hair, more of a watery texture.

Results: I finish by blowdrying my hair. I used this regime for 2 weeks. I had the most hair fall out than I ever did with other products. My hair did feel more like "hair" however it then tangled a lot. My scalp also started to get itchy and I could see bits of dandruff when I brushed my hair. I really wanted to like this because of the ethical values for the products - vegan formula - biodegradable formula - recyclable - no silicone but I didn't enjoy using them or the results. It might work better for other people.

It had all the elements of a successful hair care duo but something went wrong. The shampoo was too drying and the conditioner was too heavy. A little tweak to both product formulations perhaps? You can tell the ingredients are quality but that doesn't matter if they leave your hair feeling drab and limp. The shampoo left my hair knotty with dry ends, stripped of its natural oils and my scalp ended up flakey. The conditioner started off well, giving my hair shine and bounce before it became heavy and left my hair feeling lank and sad.

After trying the two products together, I'm really underwhelmed. My hair doesn't feel hydrated & light, instead, it feels rather dull & even a bit greasy. The smell is lovely & fresh, but that's about all i have to rave about with this range. The shampoo doesn't feel like it does a thorough job of cleansing my hair & scalp, & the conditioner just doesn't give it the light, soft feeling i was hoping for. I'm going to continue using the products for a bit longer, to see if my hair adjusts any better to them, but i wouldn't repurchase in future.

Overall the fructis hair food shampoo and conditioner worked well, however I would rate it to be average as I didn’t find there was anything special about it. The smell was fresh but I didn’t like it very much. It did the job but I wouldn’t repurchase or recommend.

I really was hoping for more from this set - It states to hydrate, but I was left with really dry feeling hair that wasnt smooth or sit right once dry. everyone's hair is different, but this just didnt work for me.

Finally Very pleased to see the shampoo and conditioner bottles in different coloured bottles ,so many are the same colour and with out my glasses I cannot read which is which in the shower .

I liked the size of both bottles ,good information ,but felt they do looked like a drink of some kind which might not be so good around young children .

They work well together and do what they say and I did feel they did somewhat hydrate my hair . The conditioner was too runny ,but completed the job all the same .

Have to say for a shampoo / conditioner that’s of natural origin it lathered well and my hair didn’t feel like straw which it has after some shampoos ,the fact these are of a natural origin is always a draw card and for me as I have a sensitive scalp .

This just wasn’t suited to my hair type and left it a bit flat ,not much body ,but my hair was shiny and felt quite nice ,I wouldn’t buy the products for myself due to those facts but would recommend to others . I like Garnier products and it wasn’t a complete fail for me .

I would be keen to try the volume one of this range ,I feel confident after using these it would work for me . All in all this is a good duo .

I was pleasantly surprised with this combo, the packaging was neat! Love the milk bottle look. Smells lovely - the whole family enjoyed using it.

Works best together using both the shampoo and conditioner, leaving my hair feeling silky and smooth - even my dry frizzy prone hair felt smooth and soft once my hair had dried, and the straightners glided through effortlesly. Love that its vegan, and 'natural'.

Cant complain, bit i do prefer using my current brand shampoo and conditioner purely for the purple shampoo aspect.

I really liked the unique packaging of the products. While the bottles are the same shape, thankfully you can tell them apart as the shampoo is mainly green while the conditioner is mainly white. I found the bottle cap hard to open on the shampoo - I thought I was going to break a nail trying to open it! The conditioner was easier to open, so I guess it is luck of the draw and some bottles from the range will be easier to open than others. On the plus side I feel like the lids would be pretty leak-proof!

The shampoo is clear with a gel-like consistency. I found I needed to use a bit more product than I would with other shampoos, in order to get a good lather. I also definitely needed to double shampoo, as the first application I didn't feel like I got much lather or much of a clean at all. Then, once I rinsed my hair the second time it felt almost too squeaky clean.

Unfortunately I didn't like the smell - the shampoo in particular smelt quite fake and chemical-like. Overall, it made the whole washing experience pretty underwhelming. Thankfully, the scent of the conditioner was more mild but overall I would prefer for the range to have a light floral scent or even no scent at all.

The conditioner is a milk like consistency which I wasn't expecting and am not used to - the liquid was quite runny and sometimes I found it hard not to squeeze out too much product. I also found it hard to control - getting it from my hand to my hair actually turned out to be quite a mission!

Unfortunately the thin consistency didn't feel great to apply either. It felt like I needed to apply quite a lot, but on contact with my hair it just seemed to sink in and my hair felt quite coarse. When I tried to brush the conditioner through my hair to disperse it, my fingers were getting stuck in knots. I also ended up having knots that I had to brush out after the shower (I don't get this with most other conditioners).

After drying my hair, it felt clean but it didn't feel overly soft or look shiny/hydrated. My hair didn't feel weighed down though, and I appreciated that the products delivered on that promise.

To me, the shampoo and conditioner just do not feel like they work well together. The shampoo left my hair feeling squeaky clean almost to the point of feeling stripped, so I felt like I needed a really moisturising conditioner to balance this out. I will continue to use the products, but I won't be repurchasing. I liked the concept of the products - it's great that they are made up of natural and vegan ingredients. However, I don't feel like it was executed as well as expected, so I wouldn't purchase them again. They didn't feel great to apply and they didn't provide great results.

These guys look super cute on the bathroom shelf and I wish they worked better for me as I love the concept!

Unfortunately the second and third use didn't live up to the promise of the first experience, my hair felt really dry and weirdly needed washing earlier than my usual three or four day cycle. Almost like it was oily but felt even drier than usual.

Very strange!

The shampoo and conditioner look and smell lovely, but just left my hair feeling coarse and dry after 3 uses.

I'm interested to read other reviews from the trial as maybe its my slightly fried blonde locks that the shampoo didn't agree with? Another reason for brown hair envy maybe?
