I had the opportunity to try the Banana hair food from Garnier and here's what i feel :) : The packaging is really well done.its a nice bright colour which makes it very refreshing to see and use. Another good thing is the simplistic way in which ingredients are mentioned. Very easy to understand which brings home the fact the product is 98 percent natural. The pack has a matte finish which is very handy as products which have high shine finishes usually look dull and tired when placed in the shower where they are exposed to constant water and steam. I tried the hair food in all the three ways it recommends. As a conditioner without a normal conditioner it is awesome! As soon as you apply and wash it, you can feel the difference it makes to your hair. The hair feels heavy, smooth and conditioned in the shower itself so one can imagine how it would feel once the hair dries. Once dry hair is nice and shiny, soft to touch, less hairfall, and easier to comb and detangle. This is true to all the 3 ways. As a conditioner after using a normal conditioner was my least favourite as hair felt a little oily and got greasy quicker. Also i broke out in pimples near the ears amd i usually dont get pimples at all. So i gather it becomes a bit too oily as a second conditioner. As a leave in treatment it works very well too. You dont nees much and hair does not feel oily and yucky as many other treatments make you feel. I would definitely use it again and again as a conditioner and leave in treatment. I love the product and would recommend it to others. Would definitely buy when available in the supermarkets. The tub is huge and would last for ages!!

Tips: Would not recommend using as a 2nd conditioner. Use it as a standalone conditioner and see the magic !
I love this product as a leave in conditioner for my curly/wavy hair. I don’t feel it is a deep conditioner. I don’t feel that 5 minutes are enough for conditioning. The smelling is really amazing. I think the best is this product is 98% natural ingredients and curly girl method friendly. No silicones, no sulphates, no parabens, no short alcohols.
Tips: I use it on wet hair before my styling products. It’s not heavy or sticky.
I absolutely loved the Papaya one of this, so I thought I would try the banana version. I have bleached blonde hair, so my hair is quite dry and damaged, and needs a good hair mask twice a week. The mask comes in a very generously sized cheerful yellow and white tub for the price. I find this is super economical compared to other supermarket hair masks, the price is lower and way more products is included. I have very thick hair and it takes me a long time to get through the Garnier hair food. The hair food/mask is quite thick in texture, so you can easily grab a chunk and apply it to the hair without making a mess or dropping product. The banana scent is very strong, it smells more like banana lollies than actual banana, so I really enjoy the scent, but if you don't like strong scents, this isn't for you. The scent lingers long after my hair has dried which I love. I use this both as a hair mask, and occasionally as a hair conditioner. It washes out easily. and instantly my hair feels so much softer and healthier after using this. My hair feels soft for days after washing when I use this. This also reduces my frizz and makes my hair smoother. I'm not sure what ingredient in the product is doing it, but whenever I use this my hair looks much blonder and brighter, and I get a lot of compliments on it, so something in this is working it's magic. Although I do prefer the papaya one, I would happily use this again!
The Garnier Hair Foods are basically famous if you follow the Curly Girl Method. They Key is to find the right one for your hair. I love this Banana one! the smell is incredible. I have fine Wavy/ curly hair and this is about right as an intense conditioner for my hair type. I have used as a Mask when my hair is super dehydrated, I've used as a leave in (mixed with water in my hands) and as a usual conditioner. Love it. purchased a second time along with some other 'flavors' of Hair Food. You get SO MUCH product and you can find on special at the supermarket for under $10
Tips: If you find this too heavy for your hair - do not use as a Mask or a Leave in - just use it as a conditioner and ensure you rinse it all out.
Having previously tried the Macadamia flavoured hair food, and the Goji one, I thought I would try another flavour in the range. The Banana one is labelled as “nourishing”. This hair food claims that it: “Deeply hydrates and repairs, for soft and healthy hair. Nourish hair with no weigh down”.
The Garnier hair food claims to be 98% of natural origin and to not contain any: parabens, silicones, or artificial colourants. The label also says it can be used as a conditioner, a mask, or as a leave-in treatment. The hair food comes in a big 390ml tub. The Banana one has a yellow label on a cream-coloured plastic tub with a yellow lid. The lid is easy to unscrew. The product itself is a thick, creamy-coloured cream. It has a very pleasant and yummy banana scent! It is easy to apply; all you have to do is dip your hands into it, scoop out some product, and massage it into your hair. It rinses out well too.
I have very fine, dry hair. Something that nourishes my hair without weighing it down is ideal. Because I want maximum moisture without added weight, so far I have only used this as a conditioner or hair mask, but it has been working very well. Not only does it smell delicious, but it has been leaving my hair feeling intensely hydrated, softer and smoother looking. You do not need to apply much product either, and with such a large tub, it is great value for money.
This smells amazing feels really nice on my hair I have used this as a conditioner and leave in however my hair it blonde and has heat damage so I have noticed any change in the condition of my hair I also have the watermelon one this too smells great and both have a nice thick consistency I think for the price they are a fantastic hair product
Out of all the Garnier Hair Food range this one is the best by far. I love the smell of this product and how shiny and smooth it makes my hair. I especially love using it as a leave in conditioner as it really keeps my curls tame and it really feels like there is no product in my hair. I bought a tub about 3 weeks ago and still got about 1/4 left and depending on where you buy it from the price can range from $12 - $16. For the amount you get and for that price, you can't go wrong. Highly recommend this product to everyone.
It was love at first wash! This is a seriously good hair mask or one-wash treatment, and it smells good enough to eat. I adore the container, as it means no scrabbling to get the last of the product (I have wasted the last part of so many expensive hair products due to the packaging and it really annoys me - not so with this product). I only left it in for about 30 seconds on both washes, and yet my hair has been much silkier and softer. And all for a much more reasonable price compared to other hair mask brands! And trust me, my hair is dry and brittle, due to being fine and bleached blonde at the hairdresser's every 5-6 weeks. I'm really impressed. I'd like to buy again, I just want to clarify Garnier's cruelty-free stance as there seems to be mixed information on the interwebs. But this really is a great product.
This smells divine and feels expensive. I have also tried the papaya and I do prefer the scent of that one, as I love sweetness. However, I found both products work pretty much the same in term of texture of products and results. I much prefer this product - an intensive conditioner over a hair mask, as you don't need to live it in for as long and worry about any of it washing away while you continue your shower.
Personally, my hair is not in bad condition, I've never dyed it, rarely use heat - maybe twice a year I'll curl my hair for a special occasion, and I don't suffer from dry hair. However, my hair is thin and dead straight with no volume, and I thought a bit of nourishment would help to liven my hair up a bit. It definitely did, my hair felt soft and hydrated, with a bit of bounce for a few days post using the conditioner. It comes in a very big tub and lasts a long time, it's also pretty natural for a cheaper hair treatment product, which is great to see!
I loved this product, anything that says hair conditioning, mask or food for my hair I’m a sucker for. I get my hair bleached so no matter how much you take care of it it will always be dry, the life of it is sucked out. I used this product after shampooing, i shampoo twice than am quite generous with anything that will make my hair smooth and sleek, so i was generous with this. I used it as a conditioner but left it in my hair a good five minutes while showering. Washed it out and my hair immediately felt smoother and sleeker. I blow dry every time and straighten, now this is where I really noticed the difference, my hair was super easy to straighten, it was sleek and no fly away. I had so many compliments that day people saying, “your hair looks amazing” and that was the only different thing I did. I was abit worried about the scent, as delicious as it was I didn’t really want to smell like a walking banana, but it wasn’t too intense, once washed out and hair done you couldn’t really smell any banana scent. Only down side to it was my hair got greasier a lot faster, I would say probably two days earlier than normal. As mentioned I bleach my hair so try not to wash it too much. I would use this again and buy it again as well as for the price I don’t think it’s any worse than my high-end masks I spend a lot more money on.
Tips: After applying to my hair i comb it through to ensure it's distributed evenly, and a little bit goes a long way even though i like to be generous.
