Firstly I love that Garnier is cruelty free and that this shampoo is vegan and made from 96% natural origins. It comes in a bottle that kind of reminds me of a juice bottle, its quite clever and looks good. This banana hair food shampoo smells so good! I love that it fills the whole shower up with the smell of banana when I use it. It lathers well so you don't need to use a lot. My hair can get really dry as I dye it blonde, so I was really happy to find it was specially for dry hair. It made my hair so soft and didn't weigh it down and I found I didn't need to wash my hair as soon as I did with the last shampoo I had been using so I decided to just continue using this one as it was perfect for my hair type. My 10 year old daughter who has extremely thick hair also used it and it made her hair so nice and smooth! We were both really happy with the results and will continue using and definitely be repurchasing.

I was chosen by the BR team to trial out the shampoo and conditioner and i have to say, wasn't the biggest fan of it. Yes the shampoo lathered up well but i felt it stripped my hair abit, i have very highlighted hair and after washing out the shampoo it felt very brittle and dry which i don't normally get with my regular shampoo. I used the range twice once without straightening my hair and once with, when i had my hair natural it gave me volume and bounce, when i used my straightener i noticed alot more fly away hairs and my hair got greaser two days sooner than normal.
In terms of the bottle packaging i feel it's abit dated and it belongs in the 80's, its very busy, i like simplicity over too much.
Overall the product did what is said it would but i wasn't the biggest fan of it and gave it to my niece to finish off who LOVES it
Tips: a little goes a long way and don't forget to shampoo twice
The packaging, as with the conditioner, looks more like a bottle of juice than shampoo. The texture was silky and it created an amazing lather with a tiny amount of shampoo. Very strong banana smell which was a little off putting but it did an amazing job and left my hair squeaky clean and silky soft. Definitely does the job and I will use again.
This product comes in a funky but cute plastic bottle that looks like a juice bottle. It has a flip top with a perforation in the bottom of the cap to pour the product into your hand. That suits me because I like products that are simple to use, especially in the shower. It has very clear and neat labelling including the list of ingredients on the back.
The product itself is thick and clear, and has a lovely banana aroma. It doesn't take much to get a very foamy head of product that I can squeeze down my pony tail. It leaves my hair feeling very clean and it does not leave any residue, so doesn't weigh my hair down nor leave it looking dull. I can't smell the lovely scent afterwards sadly.
The product appears to cost around $11.50.This seems a little pricey but the product is vegan and comes in a recyclable bottle so I'd expect to have to pay a bit more. It is pretty much commensurate with any other good shampoo and is not exceptional, but I would use it again if I found it on special, and I do recommend it to others to try.
Tips: Use with the matching conditioner.
The shampoo from this range is definitely 5 stars for me, it is very hard to find something that won’t make my scalp itchy and flakey, usually supermarket shampoos are a no-no for my scalp, the old range of garnier shampoos years ago were disastrous for me, so I was a bit weary, but it managed to exceed my expectations for sure! It also didn’t strip too much moisture off my scalp, yet it felt really clean after just one wash. The scent I really love as I’m a huge fan of banana scented products, it is a really nice scent, not too artificial, strong enough to smell it while using it, yumm! Great pricing, great results, I will try other flavours in the future for sure!
I honestly didn't really have high expectations for this shampoo but I was surprised with how much I liked it and will be using it again. This is so simple and easy to use like any other shampoo, it lathered really nicely and coated my hair well. Sometimes I find natural origin shampoos don't lather as well but this one was fine and also very easy to wash out. I really put it to the test and used it on hair that very much needed a good shampooing but it cleaned the hair well with one wash, without making it feel stripped of nutrients. Love the environmental/ethical aspect of this product being vegan, cruelty free and made from recyclable plastics, good on you Garnier. My one down side is I did find the scent a bit overpowering and sickly sweet.
Tips: make sure to recycle that bottle!!!
I was excited to try this Garnier Fructis hair food shampoo with banana, especially because it claims to be able to target ‘dry’ hair, and my hair is a bit like the Sahara right now! So anything nourishing and hydrating appeals to me at the moment…
It comes in a cute, little bottle that looks good enough to drink from (but don’t! And leave it out of reach of little kiddies too!).
The first thing I noticed once I’d squeezed this product from the cute bottle was the colour of the formula (or lack thereof). It is not creamy-looking like I expected. It’s just kind of pale and opaque, with perhaps a very light yellowy/orangey tint… So the almost-colourless formula was a bit of a surprise to me, but not offputting. I don’t necessarily need my shampoo to be a certain colour. It was just not what I’d been expecting.
The scent is also a bit non-descript. It could be a bit more fragrant if I was to be super picky. I wasn’t that enamoured with the scent, to be honest, but at least it’s not overpowering or artificial-smelling.
The texture, however, is perfect - not too runny and not too thick. Just right! And squeezing it from a bottle is far easier than getting it from the tub that these Garnier Fructis hair food products have traditionally come in. I’ve decided that I much prefer squeezing hair products from a bottle in the shower rather than having to use my hand to get product out of a tub. Bottles are no fuss, especially when the formula is not too thick but just right - like this one is. It is easy to squeeze out and there are no hassles using this product in the shower.
This shampoo lathers up well too and it feels like it does a good job at washing my hair. It is sustainable, vegan and gentle, so it is kind on the hair and pleasant to use. It isn’t a problem to rinse it out either, so overall the texture and the formula is spot on, in my opinion.
But, unfortunately, I wouldn’t say I’ve been completely won over by the actual results... It doesn’t appear to have had any noticeable hydrating effect on my Sahara-dry hair. It hasn’t been a complete disappointment either, and because it is of 96% natural origin, it’s cruelty-free, kinder on the hair, and better for the environment. So I’d recommend it if you are looking for something reasonably natural and gentle... It’d also be good for children’s hair too, I’m sure. But overall this product didn’t have the ‘Wow factor’ for me in terms of being able to solve my dry-hair issue. Three kisses.
Tips: Keep out of reach of kids.
I really enjoy this shampoo, the smell is like banana fruit bursts! I have dry hair and I am also prone to scalp build up, and this shampoo works quite well. I like that it's vegan and silicone free. The container is a good size (small enough for travel) and you just squeeze the bottle to get the shampoo out rather than a pump, so there's no wastage. Garnier is usually quite affordable so I would definitely recommend!
Tips: Rub into your scalp quite well to remove build up!
The most amazing thing about this shampoo is the smell, you feel like you are somewhere tropical. The shampoo has a good lather and the smell lasts a long time. A good treat for my hair and it felt well nourished after using it.
The packaging is SO BUSY. The bottle is cute, it reminds me of a milk bottle, somehow, but there’s so much writing, and pictures and just utter nonsense that it’s really unappealing to the eye.
I used a generous dollop to lather up my hair, but once it was in my hair, that was it, it didn’t move and it certainly didn’t lather any further. A second dollop seemed to help, and weirdly it untangled my unbrushed hair, which was nice.
Once rinsed, my hair felt ratty and horrible, and I mean, usually it feels a bit meh after shampoo but never, NEVER, as bad as what this made it feel.
Honestly, other than the smell, this was a real let down, and I won’t be using the remainder of it.
