I use this product mainly as a leave in conditioner and I enjoy it. It has helped my curls be less frizzy and more smooth, especially when my hair is dry when they are usually at their worst. The smell is amazing and love the natural, vegan, cruelty free side of this brand.
Tips: Use as outlined on the tub and when your hair is in some extra care, leave a lot in for a while before rinsing
I was first and foremost surprised at the size of this! It was far bigger than most hair mask like products I have ever purchased, it meant I didn't feel like I had to scrimp on the amount I used. The texture and smell are awesome, it made the entire shower smell so good and fruity.
Although for the most part I liked this product I am not so sure about the actual results. My hair didn't feel particularly smoother or stronger after use and I feel like it had about the same efficacy as a standard conditioner rather than a stand alone treatment. Overall I think it's a nice little extra to have but perhaps would not recommend it if you are really trying to help with damaged hair.
The hair food comes in a chunky tub. I love the fresh papaya and tropical smell, although it sadly doesn't last for very long post-shower. The tub also has plain English explanations of where each ingredient is from, which I thought was a really cool touch.
I used it as a conditioner because it felt too thick for a leave-in mask for me. It did leave hair noticeably smoother and slightly shinier, but I don't think this is my holy grail conditioner / hair mask. When my hair dried, it looked really limp and the conditioner also did not dampen the little frizz I have on my straight hair. It was like my hair had gotten really oily. It was smooth though, but it didn't feel light as it would normally feel after washing my hair. Maybe if you have really dry thin hair, this would work really well for you.
Overall, I think I liked it as an affordable hair mask / conditioner that smells very nice and is a bit fun and obviously has the bonus of having natural ingredients.
Tips: Leave in for a few minutes as you do your face scrub, then rinse out. The longer you leave it in, the better the effect.
I was excited to try this product as the concept seems really fun and fresh. I tried it in all ways the tub suggested, and while I was pretty sceptical of its multi-use promise, I was pleasantly surprised.
The massive ‘98% natural’ on the lid was one of the first things I noticed. I wasn’t really a fan of that - felt a bit like Garnier was jumping on the ‘natural’ bandwagon for the sake of being on the bandwagon.
I did however find that it was an amazing scent (probably not natural, but very tropical so perfect for these cold Winter days) - reminds me of a Body Shop lipbalm I used to have - maybe the mango flavour. Might be a bit too much of a fruity/sweet mix for some, but I found it just right.
I loved that it was a huge tub, it contains so much product! We don’t have a shelf in the shower though so found it a little tricky to get the product out - was a couple of times where when trying to maneuver the tub and get the lid back on before water got in, the product slipped of my fingers and down the drain. Small price to pay though for the amount you get.
I was really surprised how nice my hair felt after using it post-shower and leaving it in. It felt very weird to do so considering in the days before I’d washed the same product out, but using a small amount didn’t weigh my hair down (just like it promised) or make it feel sticky. It actually did make my hair feel very smooth! I like that it advised on the tub how much to use and where to focus the product (mid length to ends) if you plan to use it as a leave in product, directions can never be too specific!
I wouldn’t bother using it in shower as a hair mask post-conditioner. It wasn’t too rich or as thick as most treatments, so I would save time and just use it as a conditioner (keep it in your hair for a minute or so), and/or post shower.
I love the concept - I would be keen to try the other ‘flavours’ in the range, if only for the scents (I bet the macadamia one smells amazing!). Plus, while RRP is still TBC, I’m sure it’ll be a great price for the huge amount of product you get It wasn’t a life changing product (I don’t know that I can feel it actually repairing my hair), but it’s certainly a nice addition to my hair care routine.
I really like the smell of this one and how soft my hair feels after using it. You can use it 3 different ways and the tub is massive. I'm not a huge fan of twist off tops for products that need to be used in the shower and it's quite a handful as the tub is so big (if you don't have space to put it if you have a small shower surface to put your shampoos, etc like me). I love Garnier skin care but have found that my hair isn't suited to Garnier products-I tend to end up with itchy dandruff unfortunately. I got this on sale though and will use up what I have but may not buy again.
Backstory: I have VERY dry hair and skin, and often dye my own hair. I love these pots. I’ve tried most of them and Papaya is my favourite, if only for the smell. It’s gorgeous. Consistency is good, a pot like this will last me a month with hair just below my shoulders. You don’t need a whole lot for good coverage. Always lovely that it works 3 ways, conditioner, mask, or leave-in. Depends how I feel as I’m washing my hair. In terms of the claims of damage repairing, I suffer from a lot of breakage and hair falling out all over the place, due to a mixture of hair due and stress. I found that this product helped in terms of shine, volume, and less loss. It wasn’t a fix-all, but if you’re looking after your hair and body, this product is the way to go. The price is agreeable for the amount and results that you get.
I'm also generous when using this product on my hair it definitely helps de-frizzes Mt hair making it curly and more manageable. Feels very healthy for my hair.
I received a full sized tub of this for review from Beauty Review.
The first thing that struck me about this product is the scent! It smells good enough to eat. Natural, fruity, and light - yum!
It comes in a 390ml tub, surprisingly large compared to other similar products. The lid doesn't screw on super tightly, so I'd be cautious about storing this in the shower as I'd worry it may let water in. There are instructions on the tub for how to use the product as either a conditioner, a mask, or a leave-in conditioner. The instructions for use as a conditioner or mask don't include details about the amount of product to use or how long to leave it in for, so I just made my best guess and went with "a generous dollop".
I have fine brown hair that comes down to just below my shoulders, I don't use any hair colour or styling products regularly, and it tends to get a bit neglected with blow-drying every second day.
As a leave-in conditioner, this product went on easily, absorbed quickly, and my hair felt soft and silky with no heavy residue. The scent didn't linger as long as I'd hoped it might, but overall I liked it as a leave-in.
As a conditioner, this was easy to use, I just put a dollop (about 2Tbsp) in my hair, focussing on the mid-lengths and ends, and left it in for two minutes. It left my hair soft, silky, and smelling great, but it started to feel oily and heavy by mid-afternoon. I really thought I'd need to wash it the next day, but I managed to get a second day out of it. I'm not sure if I used too much product or if it didn't rinse out as well as I thought it did, but this just didn't work as a conditioner for me.
I was a bit nervous about trying this product as a mask, after my experience trying it as a conditioner, but I'm glad I did. I used about 1Tbsp and applied to wet hair, rinsing after 1 minute as instructed. After blow drying my hair felt soft and nourished, no heavy or oily residue, and a faint tropical scent. I think perhaps this is in part due to the silicones in my conditioner stopping my hair from fully absorbing the product.
Overall, I prefer this product as a leave-in conditioner. It smelled good and I like the fact that it's free from so many nasties. I would probably not purchase it as it was a bit heavy for my fine hair, but I'm glad I had the chance to try it.
Tips: Store somewhere dry
After reading all the fantastic reviews I decided to add this one to my stash . I got this one along with the Goji berry one.My hair is thick and dry especially on the ends .
Packaging comes in a large sized pot . Labelling is bright and reminiscent of the fruit . Consistency is thick and creamy . This scent reminds me of freshly sliced papayas. It takes me on a tropical journey with this sweet explosion of summery fruits. I like to grab a table spoon of it .I brush it through my thick hair . It melts in easily . I like to leave it in for a few hours . The longest ever was a 9 hour shift . I know naughty . But when I got home and rinsed it out my hair was soft and hydrated. My hair smelled wonderful. I like to use it as my leave in conditioner . I don’t have hair drying time in the morning. This saves my hair from having a damp smell.
So far my tub has lasted me over a month with daily usage . Sometimes I reduce to every second to third day . It’s priced fairly . When I see it on special I buy it . I’ll keep buying this one.
