Smells good enough to eat!

This shampoo and conditioner smells absolutely delicious and each comes in a 350ml recyclable bottle. It is vegan for those that prefer that and it doesn't contain silicon which is preferable to me. Garnier also commit to a world without animal testing which gets my vote. I used this shampoo/conditioner combo few times and it left my hair feeling very clean and soft but I feel I need to use it longer to garner as to whether it repaired my chemically treated hair to any extent. I couldn't read the ingredients on the bottle very well as the print is quite small but aside from that, I give it a thumbs up.

Tips: Use the hairmask also to get the real benefit of the product trio.

Love it!

I love good smelling shampoo that stays on my hair. I love the texture and my scalp feels clean after using it. I can only smell papaya rather than papaya and coconut but I still like it because it stays on my hair for a long period of time.

For the conditioner, I like the smell and the texture which isn't to sticky so it makes my hair stay nice for a long time without getting oily. I usually have problems with conditioners that makes my hair oily and I don't see any problems with oily hair using this product. The only thing I noticed was I needed to use a lot of conditioner to detangle my hair and I feel like I'm using more conditioner than usual. Overall, I would still use this because of the smell.

I love the fact that it's using 98% natural ingredients and it's 100% vegan formula major plus is it's cruelty free! There are very few brands who does this and I really think it's a good initiative.

Tropical Getaway Duo

Honestly smells amazing! The perfect blend of papaya and coconut, along with other goodies!

My hair felt pretty nourished and soft afterwards, I think the longer I use it the more it will help with repairing damaged hair. The textures go well together, not too thin or thick. And definitely do what it says! The packaging is great being recyclable and biodegradable. Great natural and vegan product and no testing on animals! Really rate duo shampoo and conditioner and highly recommend a top favourite vegan and natural hair product!

Sensory Heaven

I absolutely love the packaging on this duo. A flip top lid makes it easy to use one hand to open and close it when you’re rushing in the morning. The Papaya scent is exactly the same as the original 3 in 1 mask (in the tub) and leaves a beautiful fragrance in the hair when freshly washed. I have very fine hair with extremely dry ends and while my hair was beautifully clean and manageable I didn’t notice any changes to my ends. You can definitely tell that this range is more natural as the scent doesn’t smell artificial and they don’t weigh the hair down like most hydrating shampoos and conditioners. I tried both products separately with other products and they both performed well but I found my hair was greasier than when I had used the shampoo and conditioner together. I will definitely be purchasing these again and use the hair mask once a week to help with the dry ends.

Smells so sweet

I used the conditioner mixed in with a wash out hair colour and left it in my hair with the dye for a few hours to deep condition while colouring I was impressed with how the scent lingered in my hair. The conditioner is ideal for mixing with temporary hair dyes because it will not prevent the dye from absorption due to being silicone free. This is the type of conditioner I look for. The shampoo cleaned well and a little really did go a long way it is not sulfate free it lathers really easily. I noticed salycilc acid in the product which is often in acne medicines because it's an anti inflammatory I think this makes for a good cleanse and may help keep scalp purified. My hair is not left looking frizzy following using the conditioner and shampoo and while my colour has washed out it is not too bad in terms of stripping colour away. Now I feel if you're not used to silicone or diamenthicone free conditioners I think your not going to like this. This product is one you will get benefits from but you need to give it time like most natural based products. The silicones in conditioners give that rich slippery silky smooth feeling in the shower and basically hide damage not actually fix it or hydrate the hair. I suggest looking up the benefits of silicone free conditioners. Regaurdless you probably will like the shampoo!

Surprisingly soft

I am struggling to decide how to rate this Shampoo and Conditioner. My initial impression on first use, I wasn't a fan. I stuck it out and have kept using it over the last 2 weeks and noticed some changes to my hair, but I'm undecided if they have been for better or worse.

Firstly the shampoo: My first thought was that it's quite a thick liquid, and the bottle opening seemed quite large for the consistency of the shampoo, a little squeeze and bloooop out drops a large portion of shampoo, probably a bit more than I needed. It lathered really nicely, lots of luscious thick bubbles which felt really nice. My hair felt pretty squeaky clean using the shampoo. The fragrance was ok, a touch bitter in its papaya scent but not overwhelming. Did the job, would use again.

Now the conditioner: Given the shampoo had quite a thick consistency, I didn't think twice grabbing the conditioner and flipping the bottle with a little downwards thrust to release its trapped liquid into the palm of my hand, only to find the conditioner had a very different, much more liquidy consistency, splat! Now Iv'e got a little too much conditioner action happening but oh well lets get on with the show. I applied conditioner liberally to the mid and ends of my long, damaged (way overdue for a cut) locks, and it felt like it wasn't doing a whole lot at all. This is the point when I'd usually do a quick finger-brush detangle with conditioner in, but it just wasn't happening today. I applied more conditioner even more liberally and managed to get it all smoothed through, but at this rate I'm going to be using 3 bottles of conditioner per one bottle of shampoo. It wasn't til later that it dawned on me that my hair must have lapped up all that conditioner, hence feeling like it wasn't really there doing much, so I knew I had to prevail and give if a good few more days use. The next few days, I definitely still overused the conditioner, both because the runny consistency threw me yet again, and because my hair was so ready to soak it all up it took a bit to get it feeling soft and silky to detangle.

After about a week and a half use, my ends are still looking pretty damaged but I'm incredibly surprised by how super soft my hair is feeling, though with that it seems to also be looking a touch fluffy but that would likely be solved with a hair straightener.

Overall, I think my hair did really like this shampoo and conditioner combo even though it took a few washes to see some results, and I suspect I need to keep using it for a bit longer to really decide if its a good match for me (plus going for my overdue trim would likely help the situation), sometimes I find my hair will only like shampoos/conditioners for a certain amount of time before it feels like my hair goes backwards, hopefully not the case with this one because I do think its great its 98% organic. I would probably use this again, especially if my hair stays this soft using it!

Tips: Give it more than few washes before making your judgement, and careful you don't over pour the conditioner, its runnier than you expect given the thick consistency of the shampoo!

Not-salon quality, but pretty good

So before you read any further I’ve been using Olaplex shampoo & conditioner consistently for about… 4 years. I have curly hair prone to dryness/frizz that has been professionally coloured every 6 months or so including lightener.

Packaging: The bottles are really cute and I love that they’re 100% recyclable, made from 50% recycled plastic, have a vegan formula and are silicone free. The lid is easy to open when my hands are wet, and its fairly easy to pour the amount I want (though the conditioner is runnier than expected).

Product: The shampoo smells really amazing and definitely does an ok job. My curly hair doesn’t appreciate it though and I started to get the ‘straw-like’ feeling when rinsing the shampoo out so swapped back to Olaplex part way through the trial. My partner says “hair is cleaner than it was 10/10, nice and foamy, smells like papaya which is fun, made my hair nice and clean feeling” The conditioner was definitely runnier than I expected (again, I’m used to Olaplex which definitely has a thick creamy feeling). It smoothed out my hair after the shampoo fairly well but I did feel a bit like I wanted to condition twice or have a thicker product. My partner has been exclusively using this since we got it and says “Conditioner felt super lovely and creamy, rinsed out easy and now my hair is real soft.” His hair isn’t quite as soft as it was with Olaplex, but definitely smooth and smells lovely.

The verdict: This is definitely an “ok” product. It smells great, it works fairly well and I think for most hair types that aren’t of the moisture craving variety – this would be an excellent option. For me its not quite there, but will definitely be a backup, and I’ll buy it for my partner/guests to use. I’m really glad to have another product in the house so he doesn’t use all of my expensive stuff.

Tips: If you use hydration boosting products for dry or processed/tangled hair, then you may find the shampoo leaves your hair feeling a little like straw. Not a deal breaker but may not be something you want.

The conditioner is runnier than expected, don’t be too enthusiastic when pouring it so you don’t overshoot…

Bit of a mixed bag

I am a big fan of the Garnier Papaya Multi-Use Hair Food Mask, so was stoked to get on this trial, and see if the new shampoo & conditioner regime would be just as amazing, but unfortunately this didn't live up to my expectations. Throughout the trial period, I used the shampoo & conditioner together for 5 hair washes, with half used without a hair mask or treatment so I could see how the conditioner performs, and half used with the Papaya Multi-Use mask as the products recommends the shampoo & conditioner be used in conjunction with this. The shampoo and conditioner both come in cute easy to squeeze 350ml bottles, with orange lids and the classic Garnier Hair Food labelling, which is a bit cluttered text wise, but aside from that, cute packaging. The shampoo comes in a transparent orange tinted bottle, while the conditioner comes in a white bottle, which makes them easy to tell apart in the shower. Both have an amazing strong papaya scent which smells delicious and lingers on the hair afterwards. Now, the multi-use hair mask in this range is amazing, it calms my hair, deeply repairs it and leaves it feeling amazing, so I expected similar things from this regime but it just isn't anything special. The shampoo is much better than the conditioner, it's easy to wash out of the hair, refreshing, hydrating and shampoos well. It's nothing spectacular but it's nice and does the job. The conditioner though is quite average, it's super runny and messy to work with, and doesn't really condition all that well, or do much for my hair. This was very apparent when I used it without the hair food multi-use mask afterwards, it barely had an effect. My overall rating would be higher if the conditioner matched the shampoo in quality and performance, but it didn't. Overall, I'd recommend trying the shampoo, but give the conditioner a miss, it's not anything better than other supermarket conditioners.Stick to the original hair food multi-use mask as that can be used as a conditioner and pair that with the shampoo, as I think that would provide better results, than using the Hair Food Conditioner.

Papaya so good

Mmmmm the smell of these two products is absolutely incredible! I love how they are made of mostly natural ingredients.

However, I was not impressed with the shampoo and conditioner.

The shampoo was a nice consistency and lathered up really well. It did make my hair feel dryer than usual and it definitely didn’t hydrate it.

The conditioner was quite runny and it weighed down my hair noticeably. It felt lank and heavy. When I was blow drying my hair, it was also frizzier than usual and was quite staticy.

I was so disappointed as I had very high hopes after previously using the papaya hair mask

Tips: Even though they smell divine, do not eat!

A lot to be desired

Love the cute milk bottle type packaging. Fits in my small shower caddy easily. Both products smell amazing. I was expecting more from this duo however. More nourishing, conditioning and softening. Left a lot to be desired. Ultimately, I don't think these products are bad, I think they just aren't suited to my hair.

I will be finishing these products but won't be repurchasing these specific ones. I am keen to try other products in the range to see if it's a better fit.
