I’ve tried this conditioner as both a regular conditioner and as a leave in on wet hair. I haven’t tried it as a hair mask yet but as it performs well at the other two tasks I think it would be good at this too. The conditioning is not quite as good as my favourite preferred bottle conditioner, but it’s still good. The scent is really quite nice - I like it better than the shampoo bar. I do question the very large pot it comes in - I’d prefer something a bit smaller for travelling but could decant into something else. I was impressed that as a leave in on wet hair once dried it didn’t leave any residue or heavy feeling, which is great for fine hair. Definitely happy to use again.

Tips: Try as a leave-in on wet hair for extra conditioning
Smells so good, Leaves my hair really smooth after wash as its strong texture, only a little is needed. It lasts long and you can also buy the shampoo as it doesn't make my sensitive hair feel weighted down, Make sure you wash it out good and its nice to build curls too
The hair food came in a round tub very much like the previous Garnier’s hair food release. The hair mask smells just yum. I so wished it was bottled up, or came with a scoop below the lid. Although the design does look attractive, i always had problems closing round container lids in the shower for some reason.
As expected it definitely had a consistency thicker and richer than the conditioner. You could use this hair food in three ways. I tried it all and it works well either way. But for me the overall winner was using it as a hair mask. After leaving it in for a minute and rinsing, you could really feel the difference. My hair just felt much lighter, softer, bouncier, and a lot smoother. It really does do what it says.
Tips: A little bit of hair food could be rubbed into the hair as a leave-in when you’re suffering from those not so good hair days, especially when out on the go with no time to wash your hair. This will leave your hair smelling yum with a fruity hint.
Love the bright colors on the packaging, makes you definitely want to see what the product is all about. It definitely draws your attention. I love how you can use this in 3 different ways either as a mask, tips for your hair or leave in. To be honest I have only tried 2 ways with this. The head mask felt quit good and made my hair feeling so good afterwards, it detangled my hair and made it feel silky and clean. The other way I used it was just leaving it in the tips of my hair and rinsing it out. This way was just as good making my hair nice a silky and easy to brush.
Tips: The only tip I really have is to make sure your hair is wet, but ensure you have washed your hair with shampoo before applying for best results.
I trialed this product in exchange for a review, it was my first time ever using hair food. I think having a multipurpose product like this is really handy. I just know one day I'll realize I'm out of conditioner and will be grateful to use hair food until my next shop. Or I'll unexpectedly have to go out somewhere and if my hair isn't up to par, I can use hair food to quickly and easily get it looking decent.
It has a nice fruity scent that isn't overpowering, matching the coordinating shampoo and conditioner. It has a very creamy texture, reminded me of a thick day cream, but it's very easy to spread on hair. When using it as a leave in treatment I found that a little went a long way, and given the large size of the tub, I think this makes the product quite economical, even with my long hair. A downside of the large tub size is that it's awkward to use in the shower and it was too bulky to fit anywhere.
I preferred using it as a leave in treatment. When using it on dry hair I worried that it would leave my hair looking stringy or leave a residue, but it was quickly absorbed and I was pleased with the result. My dry split ends did seem noticeably shinierand smoother, though I can't say I noticed any extra volume. My fine hair is typically flat and volumising products don't ever really work for me, so I wasn't too surprised that despite it's claims, the hair food was no different.
I have used this product for a month or so now. It is a big jar so it goes a long way. I have bleached hair so for me finding products that work well when moisturizing without build up is hard. I found that the product works as it says it does and has a really pleasant smell. It's not too over powering. I think that the fragrance could almost be a bit more but that's just me! I use quite a lot of the product to get even spread across my hair. It leaves your hair smelling fresh and not weighed down which many products like this do. Great work Garnier Fructis.
Tips: Put in your ends first. Leave for a bit and then put through the rest of your hair and rinse. Don't leave too long on your scalp otherwise it will create heaviness. I do this with all of these types of products.
I used the Garnier Fructis Hair Food Watermelon as both a mask and a conditioner. It worked best as a mask (leave in for 1 minute) in order for the moisture to fully be absorbed - but without leaving your hair with oily residue like some masks. Very easy to use as part of your hair routine - and it has a nice watermelon scent.
Tips: Use as a mask (leave in for one minute).
I've used the Papaya hair food one before first time trying watermelon hair food... again like the shampoo bar the smell is divine. Makes your hair very soft and manageable I don't leave conditioner in to long all over as I have a greasy scalp but did apply to the ends for longer, combing hair after is so easy I think after longer use my dryish ends will improve more will definitely continue to use love the products aren't full of chemicals cause I can be very sensitive to some of them
Tips: definitely try leaving it on the ends longer for those dry ends keep away from the scalp more if you have greasy scalp
It's thick, very pale pink, creamy. It's unscented which I wasn't expecting. I've used it as an intense conditioner and it works well. I also like it as a mask. Both ways reduce the amount of frizziness my hair gets after blowdrying it. I think that it truly helps to protect my hair but it does get greasier a bit quicker. A little goes a long way! I can normally go 3 days before washing my hair but with this, I have to wash every 2 days. I don't think I'll leave it as a leave-in treatment because it'll be way too heavy. I enjoy using this after washing my hair with the Garnier Watermelon Shampoo Bar.
I was excited to use Fructis' Watermelon Hair Food 3 in 1 Mask by Garnier. It’s 97% natural origin ingredients enriched with volumising watermelon give volume, bounce and movement to fine hair – and that’s exactly what I was looking for.
This is a thick creamy product that comes in a simple large tub. It’s very generous in size, so will last a long time, however the size of the tub makes it a little awkward to use in the shower. It doesn’t fit on my small shelf, so on the shower floor it sits! A little goes a long way, with a small amount of this product making a huge difference to my fine and sometimes frizzy hair. It smells amazing with a strong watermelon scent that I could still notice on my hair following wash out and drying.
The added bonus? This can be used in three ways! Yes, you read that right! I really appreciated the versatility of this product. Option one is as a conditioner: You just apply to wet hair to instantly give volume and detangle with no weigh down. Option two is as a mask: Apply on wet hair, leave for a minute and then rinse out thoroughly, to give your fine hair full volume. And lastly you can use as a leave in: You can use on wet or dry hair, and just apply a 10-cent amount on mid-lengths and ends leaving your hair full of volume and smoother for longer.
I really appreciated the versatility of this product. My hair had volume and was glossy following use. I found it was great as a leave in on my hair over the weekend, and better for conditioner during the week when I was short on time.
My hair is soft, bouncy and not weighed down – I would definitely recommend.
Tips: Pair with the Frutics’ Watermelon Shampoo Bar for an extra indulgent shower – and bouncy hair!
