This shampoo bar really surprised me. I had never used one before & I really liked it. Left my hair clean but not stripped out like alot of volume shampoos do. Hair was shiny, bouncy, full of body & blow waved great. Not really a watermelon fragrance fan but smell was fine not over powering. Price wise the bar equals 1 litre of liquid shampoo & retailing at $10 its very economical. Love that it's vegan, has zero plastic & no artificial additives. I paired with the matching watermelon Hair Food mask & they compliment each other really well.

Tips: If I continued using shampoo bars I would invest in a bar holder as I did find it quite soft & a little messy if just place on a surface. Keeping it dry after use will keep it longer.
I have tried Shampoo Bars in the past and had decided they were not for me (another brand). However, so far, I am pleasantly surprised with the Garnier Hair Food Shampoo Bar - Watermelon.
The bar comes in a lovely little cardboard box which took up no room in my recycle bin. The packaging was bright and exciting, and you felt good about yourself just by how little waste you were creating on this planet. However, at the same time no information was spared on what this product could do or how to use the bar.
The little solid Shampoo bar has a Watermelony fragrance which is pleasant but not completely natural smelling but I enjoyed the fragrance whilst using it.
The bar is surprisingly easy to use. It foams up easily and you get great coverage over your hair (I have fine hair but lots of it). I always shampoo twice and my hair felt as clean, if not cleaner than other products I use. After using the bar it hardly looked like I had even used any product at all, I can see how this would last a very long time.
Once my hair was dry it was shiny and healthy (I have found some other shampoo bars would leave my hair to dry and dull). Some products tend to lead to my hair getting oily very quickly but have found this bar would leave my hair looking clean for a couple of days (I used the Garnier Hair Food Conditioner too, If I had left out the conditioner I may have had more Oil Free hair days).
Overall, so far I am really pleased with this product and would definitely consider purchasing this again. I would recommend to anyone who was looking to cut their waste, cares about our environment or who just wants to have an alternative for lovely shiny hair
Tips: I would recommend getting a reusable container to keep in your shower for the bar so it doesn't get damaged or washed away between uses.
To begin with I was confused as to how, what looked like a bar of soap, would generate enough foam to actually wash my hair. From first use I found I found this product great. It only takes a few wipes of the bar on your scalp to generate enough foam to be able to lather and wash your hair thoroughly. It was easy to rinse out and left a subtle but pleasant smell. My hair was soft and shiny after use and was gentle on my scalp (I have psoriasis) and found this did not irrate my scalp. I have since become a regular user and alternate between the banana and watermelon flavors.
I have been going to try this shampoo bar for a long time and finally decided to buy one and give it a go.I love the scent and it lathers up well which is a nice feeling.I am in a habit of shampooing twice so did the same and massaged well into my hair and scalp. My hair felt really nice afterwards and was very soft too. I have fine hair which can go lank but my hair did not sit flat as it usually does which did make it look a little fuller. Over all a good experience .I like the idea of reducing plastic and this is certainly a good way to start.I had purchased a different brand in RR which started me wanting to try others and I am very happy with them both.I like to use different shampoos and enjoy seeing the difference to my hair.
Tips: This would be great to take if you are traveling as no spillage and takes less space.
Now this product is handy, it last a while and you don't need to worry about broken lids or bottles falling over. Only thing I wish is that it smelt more like strawberries has more of a wheat like smell.
Tips: Get one of those wall soaps with the cover that sticks of the wall, keeps little hands away and keeps it dry when not in use
First, I love how compact and easy to store this magical bar of delight!
This is the first shampoo bar I've used. The watermelon scent reminded me of summer, think watermelon sorbet, yum!
I didn't notice too much difference to my hair, plus good things take time so I'm looking forward to seeing the effects as I continue to use this little bar of goodness.
Super easy to use, it's hand sized so your not knocking yourself in the face with a cake of soap...just me?
I'm definitely going to try some different flavors in the future too.
Tips: Keep your eyes shut when shampooing.
So I bought a bulk online and one of these came in it. I have just tried the banana shampoo bar so was interested to see this one. Unfortunately I think my bar although unopened is old it does not smell like watermelon it's not a nice scent. It looks very much the same tear drop type of shape as the banana and close in colour which is like an off yellow. Results were similar to the banana bar but not as pleasant. When I see one on the shelf in a store I'll give it a sniff because I think mine might be past it's best before given it's scent. I plan to melt it down with the banana one and add some fragrance oils and remould it for using. I've not tried the solid conditioner bars of this brand yet and I can say im not in a hurry to. I'm pleased I got this in a bulk and not paid full price. Results are clean hair and lathered okay in my hand - not as easily as the banana. I look forward to trying this again once I've blended it with other shampoo bars and my fragrance / essential oils for a nicer smell and more pretty to look at solid shampoo. On that note I really do like the bottle versions and hair food conditioner tubs of this line and have been using them for years
I got this in the beauty box. I'm glad I got the watermelon one as I love melon scents. For starters, I like watermelon scents although I can smell the melon it seems to be melon and something else, like melon and some spice at the end. It would be better to just be melon. Now if you read its 94% plant origin, you'd assume it's sulfate-free but has sodium coco-sulfate. Compared to my usual shampoo brand the Garnier one really lathers up while the other brand bubbles up. I double shampoo my hair each wash and my scalp felt clean. I don't think I had more volume than I did with my normal shampoo bar. It did the job but I don't think I'd repurchase because I prefer my usual sulfate-free brand and I'd prefer if the scent was just watermelon but I will use this one up.
Tips: Store in a soap dish with a tray to drain the water so it can dry in-between uses that will make the bars last longer.
I was very interested to test a shampoo bar. As much as I am sold on the environmental benefits of using a bar, the watermelon scented Garnier Hair Food Shampoo Bar is not appropriate for thick hair. It didn't nourish my hair and left it dry.
The bar is light (60g) and fits well in the hand. It is easy to use. You wet your hair and the bar, rub the bar from the roots et voilà. It nicely foams and smells like watermelon. The bar will last long, up to the equivalent of 1 bottle of 500ml.
As of June 2022 the price of the shampoo bar at a NZ supermarkets is $18. A bottle of shampoo from Garnier is $12 for 850ml. Due to the results experienced with this specific product, it is not worth the money for me. However, I would be keen to try a bar more relevant to my hair type to reassess my opinion.
The packaging is appealing and recyclable. The formula of the bar is vegan and 98% biodegradable with no preservatives, artificial colourants, silicone or plastic waste.
I have already talked about it to friends. I think the bar is a great way to protect the environment.
Tips: Wet your hair and the bar well before use.
Arriving in a recyclable cardboard packet, allowing for proper disposal, and no plastic waste means this cute shaped ball of hardness packs a mean punch, Right from its scent of watermelon, easy to hold slice running it Down your hair is a breeze. This bar lathers nicely giving that foamy texture we all love, the sweet scent of watermelon makes you feel your in foodie paradise. After rinsing off it does mean you r hair does feel a tad dry, a little bit frizzed from the rubbing down motion, but you’ll be wishing you had a conditioner nearby to finish off the job, lasting for a good couple of day ms in between washing, means that this little gem will hang around a little longer then normal shampoos and it takes up so little space, from the packaging to the product this is one little slice you’ll want to try.
Tips: Dry between uses find a cool spot to let it be free, and condition afterwards
