Unmask The Slime

I'll start of with the packaging because it was the best thing about it. It's the size of my hand, bright, beautiful and easy to open.

Carefully reading the easy-to-follow instructions I then opened the pack and attempted to pull the mask out. The layers fell apart in my hands. Holding it up with both hands I already knew this slimy mask was not going to fit my face.

You have to have a longer face shape as it crunched up under my eyes and didn't fit my facial structure correctly. The noise piece was small and absolutely nothing lined up. I continued to get correct it how ever and pulled the top layer off. It slid around on my face so I thought I'd lay down and relax. It slid off the side of my face but I corrected it each time as I wanted to know if the effects were worth it.

I stood up, it slid off and I then washed the excess slime off my face. It had no beneficial results for me. My face did not feel fresh or soft or brightly.

Unfortunately this isn't made for people with small faces. I hope they bring out something that can be made for all face shapes.

Soothing and Calming

I've used tissue face fasks before but from Korea so when I saw that Garnier had brought one out, I was definitely keen to try.

The mask came in a pretty pink pearl coloured packet which was easy to open as it had a slight tear at each end enabling you to open from both sides (great if one opens and the other doesn't).

Application - ummm now this I found pretty tricky to be honest as it was a bit hard to work with. You are supposed to apply the mask white side onto your face with the blue part face outwards. I patted the mask down and tried to smooth it out, but found this hard to do with the blue part still on. I tried to pull the blue part off, but struggled to find the area to pull it off but once found was able to remove. This made the mask so much easier to work with (perhaps I applied it incorrectly in the first place).

Once smoothed over (didn't understand what the two slits were for on the sides of the face, supposed to go over the ears or something? lol) it managed to sink into place. Apart from the mouth area which I found the slit was just a too tad small for my mouth. I must have a big mouth ha ha ha. I left it on for the recommended time of 15 minutes as instructed.

I removed the mask and followed the instructions on how to remove the residue moisture still on my face.

Results - did the mask hydrate like it said it would? Yes it did and I noticed that my skin looked a lot less red and calm as it states it would. So thumbs up for that.

Price is great too and I think I would need to try a few of these on a regular basis to really get a good idea as to how hydrating these are.

Would I rush out and buy one though? Not really, given the time it takes to apply it and the uncomfortable feeling of it on my face (I felt anything but relaxed with it on) it is not my idea of a "chill out and take a few minutes for myself' kind of session.. Although I'm super grateful and appreciative for the chance to try it. Thanks Beauty Review xx

Tips: There was quite a bit of liquid left over in the packet, so after I removed the brand new mask, I tipped out into a little pot which I will use at a later date. Hopefully this will give me a longer indication as to whether it would be good to purchase a few more.

Not for me!

I received the Hydra Bomb tissue mask and I was looking forward to trying this sheet mask. The instructions on how to use it are pretty simple and straightforward and the pack contains 1 tissue mask for single use. I opened the pack and found the mask to be soaking in serum. I applied it on and removed the protective blue film, it is quite easy to adjust it around your eyes, nose and mouth area. It was very cold and sloppy but it did not drip down my neck or clothes, it’s best to do this lying down so that it doesn’t slide off. I tried this on late evening before bed, left it on for 15 mins as instructed and peeled it off from the edges. There was a lot of serum on my face. So I massaged the excess into my skin and had to wait an extra 10 mins for it to get absorbed into my skin but still had to wipe some off. My skin did feel quite nice after that, pretty soft but because there was so much serum left over, there was a slight bit of stickiness which did go away after but it does take some time. However the next morning when I woke up my skin around my mouth area was really dry, dryer than what it normally is, and this mask is supposed to give 24hr lasting hydration, but it didn’t do that for me. I ended up using a different hydrating cream mask that morning to give my skin some relief. I was disappointed because upon application this did not irritate my skin at all and would have been good treat during hot summer days. Don’t think I’d be buying this again. Sorry not for me.

Tips: Best used lying down so that it does not slide off.

Cold gloop

So I got my sample and was so excited to try it. I needed some pampering. The packaging was quite neat. It was bigger than I thought but looked nice. I read the instructions and it seemed simple enough. However when I opened the package and took it out I was surprised. It was dripping wet!! It was also very cold. Hmmm I thought, well here goes. I laid it on my face and tried to find the outer layer to peel off, I managed to find it. The mask was so slimy I had to wipe my hands, and it was really cold. I lay there with this cold slimy gloopy mask on for the 15 minutes it said. My face was tingly. I didn’t feel very relaxed or pampered, my dog came in and gave me such a look I laughed and thought oh well, we shall see what the results are. I took it off at the end and as it suggested used cotton balls to wipe off the remaining gloop. The plus side is, my face did look very hydrated after, nice and “plump” looking.

Tips: Maybe use it in a hot bath to counter the cold and not worry so much about getting it all over your clothes or pjs....

Goopy fun Garnier Tissue mask

This was a really fun review, though not entirely successful on the part of the product! Never having used a tissue mask, I was curious about this and happy to be chosen. I followed the directions on the packet, opened it up, and placed the mask over my face, and then removed the outer layer.

The mask was sopping wet with the mask goop, which had a sort of fresh smell, but was not heavily fragranced. With being so wet, I expected it to drip, but it didn’t. I was sitting on the couch at the time - should have really been in the bathroom as I needed a few tissues to clean up my hands after placing the mask.

The mask was too big for my face and had to keep it out of my eyes to prevent the product going in them. This mask was supposed to be for Dry or Sensitive skin and promised to leave the face feeling Not tight, and Moisturised. After the mask was removed, some areas of my skin felt softer, but not a great deal more.

As the mask settled on to my face, I felt a few little prickles of irritation, but they didn’t get worse or more frequent. My skin can be sensitive but not too dry, so I thought it might cause a breakout the next day, but it didn’t.

After the 15 mins was up, I removed the mask. The instructions say to massage the remaining goop into your face. This was not feasible as there was HEAPS of goop stuck to me, so I wiped it off, and my face was then damp. A little while later my face like there was still ‘stuff’ on it, so I washed my face with clean water and patted dry. $5 seems reasonable for a large portion of a one-off mask, and is comparable to other sachet face masks.

On evaluation, I find that this seemed like a good idea but with the large fit and luxurious amount of goop, it seems not worth the hassle - I’d rather use a mask I can spread on myself.

Tips: Place the mask while in the bathroom, then recline for 15 mins. Don't try to rub it all in afterwards.

I am not sure about tissue masks

I had an interesting experience with this product. The application was messy, I followed the instructions which required the mask to be gently unfolded and applied to the face and then the outer blue skin to be peeled off. I applied it fine but the blue skin stuck and peeled the whole mask off again leaving it in a floppy soggy paper mess. It was a little tricky but I got it back on my face to find the eyeholes weren't quite big enough to accomodate my eyes, but the surface of the mask was huge (little face, huge eye problems..) the mask was difficult to get stuck down around the contours of my nose bridge and didn't really fit, so I found it a little cumbersome. The moisture content was great and cooling, and when it was time to remove it there was still alot of residue to massage into my skin. Once it dried my skin felt very dry, tight and unpleasant so I had to rectify it by applying more moisturiser, which I don't think was the purpose of the treatment. The next day my skin broke out in tiny pimples, I am unsure if this was a latent reaction to whatever chemicals were in the mask, but I am sure this was not a desired outcome. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to trial this product but I think the alternative mask solutions (ie. apply with your fingers solution) works better for me.

The packaging was a foil sachet that was quite large and packed with information about the application technique and benefits of the product, the instructions despite my clumsy efforts were easy to follow and the benefits promised were good. However in my experience with the dryness and the breakout I didn't realise any of the benfits claimed. In all honesty I probably won't use this product again and will opt for the messy, more natural products in future. :)

Garnier Hydra Bomb Tissue Mask

I have very dry skin year round and am always looking for anything that will help hydrate it. The Garnier hydra bomb tissue mask states it is an ultra hydrating soothing mask which instantly rehydrates skin, so I was quite optimistic about the results I might get. The positives - it definately delivers on being very soothing. My skin felt very comfortable the whole time I had the mask on, mildly cool and soothed. The negatives - I didn't feel this mask hydrated my dry skin whatsoever. In fact I had to apply my usual moisturiser about an hour after using this mask because my skin had dried out again. It definately didn't give me 24hr hydration. The mask is however very easy to use, and not messy at all. I think this mask would be better suited for people with normal/combination skin who might like abit of a small hydration boost, but if your dealing with very dry skin, I can't really recommend it as I personally didn't find it hydrating enough.

Tips: Probably not the best choice if you have very dry skin as it wasn't hydrating enough.

Chamomile Tissue Mask

Tissue mask

I haven’t used a tissue mask before so I really had know idea what to expect. The packaging was appealing to the eye, it was easy to open and all the instructions for application of the mask are on the back. All looked easy enough when reading them but, easier said than done. When I opened the foil package I was overwhelmed with the amount on liquid the mask was in. I awkwardly applied the mask to my face and removed the protective blue film. Once I had applied the mask I looked like a had put my Halloween costume on early! But don’t be alarmed that is how it supposed to look! (just don’t make the same mistake as I did and try have a serious conversation to your husband at the same time!!)The mask is easily adjusted fit around the eyes, mouth and nose. It felt very cold and very wet however over the 15 minutes it was on I began to get used to it and thankfully for a person with sensitive skin it did not cause any irritation. After the 15 minutes had concluded I removed the mask and as instructed left the excess serum to soak in. This took a while as there was a lot left on my face. Initially after the mask my skin felt very hydrated and smooth. However in the morning my skin did not feel any different. I still had to moisturise just as much if not more than any other day, which is confusing as it supposed to give 24hours hydration. Don’t think I’ll be using this product again. Would have loved for it to have done what it had said it would as my skin certainly needs the extra hydration without any irritation.

Tips: Make sure you wear old clothes or have towel to protect clothes as some serum could get on them due to excess in package. Give yourself plenty of time to complete application and allow for excess serum to soak in once mask removed.

Soothing to the max

This is the first time I've tried a Garnier Mask & my first tissue mask. It was very easy to use & entertained my 4 year old immensely! He thought it would make a great Halloween mask. Garnier haven't skimped on product. There was definitely enough to provide plenty of coverage. I loved the cooling sensation & would definitely use this mask if my skin was inflammed & itchy. My skin did look & feel lovely for the next 24 hours but I felt it could have been more moisturising-which is why I've only given 3 stars. Someone with younger skin would probably experience the sense of 'intense hydration' more than I did. I would recommend this mask for anyone with sensitive skin though as it really does feel nice on. In fact I was a bit reluctant to remove it after the 15 minutes as it felt so good. The fragrance is soft & powdery, nothing offensive at all & the packaging was both appealing & easy to open. Overall not a bad product for the price.

Smells nice...

Was a little difficult to get the blue layer off. The mask itself smelt nice. I found it an odd feeling to have on my face and wasn’t able to talk or move my facial muscles as well. The mask kept slipping down my forehead and lip so had to keep readjusting. It did make my skin feel very lovely and soft although I don’t think that lasted more than a day for me...
