Didn't match the box.

I used the red dye in the range and used it to touch up the fading and regrowth on my hair, which was already coloured red. The dye made my hair appear to be a more washed out red, and I just really didn't like the colour. It doesn't fade easily though, three months later and my hair is still quite red, so it is relatively long-lasting. It doesn't wash out as much as other reds do, I didn't find any red dye washing down the shower drain as much as I normally do.

Tips: Don't use the conditioner that comes with it all at once, as you will need it to stop the colour from washing down the drain every time you shower.

Hoping this lasts!

After reading about this dye on one of the polls and not getting into a trial, I knew I had to give it a go anyway! I bought it from Countdown on special - Only $13.50!! So no more expensive than any other box dyes!

My first thoughts were excitement at the natural smell! Some of those ammonia-riden dyes make me (as an asthmatic) feel reeeeally wheezy. :( But the smell was great.

It's mixed and used exactly like every other home dye so it wasn't difficult - the smell really did make the process easier though. The only thing I would say is that the shape of the bottle wasn't right for me - with those classic flimsy gloves and needing 7 more hands than you have, the round bottle proved a little hard to hold.

I was really pleased with the conditioner being in such a big tube so I can continue to use it for the next few weeks so keep the bold colour!

I was excited to see what the colour would turn out like so I blow dried my hair and was so happy with the result! My hair was all the same colour - making it look so healthy - and the colour was very rich and luxurious! Not bad for $13.50!! Haha. It also feels really healthy - though you can never really tell if that's just from giving it a good wash with the conditioner but my first impression is a resounding tick! If circumstances change, I'll be sure to come back and edit this to tell you how long it all lasts but I'm currently VERY happy and sooo glad that it's not going to destroy my hair like every other product. My ends already look so much better!

Tips: Use your own gloves - as per usual with these home box dyes. It makes it so much easier! And if you're panicking, they have some really great video tutorials to help you get it done really efficiently. :)

User beware

I read all of the instructions and this time even did the skin patch test. Thank goodness I did as within a minute I felt tingling by my ear and after a few hours I had an angry red patch of skin. Needless to say I didn't use the product as I did not want to have a greater reaction to it. Although this product says no ammonia obviously some other ingredient disagrees with me. I was really disappointed as I thought this product may be the answer to I between salon visits.

Tips: Absolutely do the skin test - each and every time.

Long lasting red!

I have had dark brown hair for as long as I can remember and decided it was time for a change. Unfortunately as a poor uni student a trip to the salon wasn't in my budget. I decided to use this dye as it was cheap and I loved the idea of no ammonia. I did have to strip my hair first, but the results were amazing after. The red was the same colour as the box, and it is a long lasting dye. My roots became visible after a few weeks but the rest of my hair stayed bright without fading for a long time.

Garnier Olia - Violet

I Tired this colour after seeing it on this site and thinking it might be kinder on my hair than standard permanent colours .

I have previously had highlights and had been dying my hair with a different permanent dye of a similar shade, I had regrowth and needed to touch up.

I have thick hair so I purchased 2 packs to get good coverage in case the shade was drastically different to my existing shade.

The product mixed well and the instructions were easy to follow, but for me it stopped there.

I found the product really hard to work through my hair, I ended up with massive knots and what looked like a giant dreadlock.

The coverage was not good despite buying two packs. After washing out my hair the colour was really patchy and not intense like the box and after 5 washes has faded dramatically.

Unfortunately this product didn't pass the cut and I wont be using it again.

Tried Garnier Olia in shade 9.0

I loved the colour after washing it out and for the first few days but really it stopped there for me, it did wash out of my hair quite quickly & fade, which I'm not sure if it was the product or just my hair. The bottle was a bit of a pain as it's very round and hard to keep a hold of with slippery hands. Perhaps a different shaped bottle would be best

DIY on a budget

We were heading away for the weekend and I wanted a colour to spruce up my dull hair. Popped into the supermarket and grabbed a light brown for $10.99

The instructions were easy to follow and gloves really generously sized. Love that there is no ammonia, no nasty smells that make my eyes water!

My husband put my colour through and found the colour spread easily through my hair.

After washing out and drying off my hair, I was really impressed with the colour, it was very similar to my natural colour but bright and shiny. A week later it is still lovely.

I enjoy using the conditioner, it has a beautiful smell really helps keep my hair soft and prevents it from drying out.

Overall I was really impressed and would use this colour again

Amazing

I love it I use the dark brown and my hair feels so soft and healthy after I dye it. I use this product every 6 weeks and I love that it comes with heaps of conditioner so it lasts many washes.

nice but ...

i brought this a few weeks ago and brought the Deep Violet colour. it did what it said about 100 % grey coverage as i sadly have grey hair :( lol. anyway this was a nice smell and it was pretty much easy to follow instructions and apply. It felt a lot more smother than other hair dyes that I've tried. once i dryed my hair i found it to be nice and had a soft feeling to my hair. the price was ok as i brought it on special at countdown for $11 and thought id give it a go. as far as the colour it turned out quite dark more like a almost black but it did have a little bit of a Violet shade in it. I found it didn't keep the colour in for very long and seemed to me as it faded only after 2 weeks. overall it was ok. and only if it was on special again i would consider buying it. I personally think they should have more purples but at the moment they only have the Deep Violet. oh forgot to mention that the bottle was quite round and it was a little hard to have a good grip on the bottle I could not see the point in having such a round bottle and also the bottle did not fit the cut out hole bit, that was on the box to hold it altogether while putting the mixes in, it just didn't seem to work..

Tips: always rub in Vaseline around your fore head and around your ears so your dye wont stain your skin. do this with any type of hair dye.

It works but nothing special

I often colour my hair blue black as I love the intensity. I found this product fine but wasn't anything extraordinary. It is very much like a lot of the other supermarket bought colours I have used in the past.

The colour was great but not as intense as some of the other brands.

I did find that it lost it's shine and depth of colour quite quickly and left my hair feeling like it had a residue on it. It didn't give me the nice soft shiny hair that I have got from other products. Overall it was decent for the price but I wouldn't specifically choose it again.

Tips: If any colour gets on your skin be sure to keep wipe it off straight away. Also "colour remove's colour" so when you go to wash it off. Damp your hair a wee bit and rub the stained skin with a little bit of the colour from your hair.
