I've always used a regular eyelash curler, so this was my first time trying a heated eyelash curler. I was so excited!
It's metallic gold in colour and aesthetically looks very pretty. It's also lightweight. I added 2 AAA batteries and followed the instructions carefully on how to use it. I turned it on and waited for the pink silicone pads to turn white, which is an indication that the curler is ready to use. I used it like I with a regular eyelash curler by holding the front of the curler against my face. I gently clamp my lashes with the silicone pads by pushing the slider upwards and held for 15 seconds. I repeated this few times to achieve my desired curl on my lashes, but unfortunately, my lashes wouldn't curl no matter how many times I tried. I even made sure the my lashes were clean and dry before using it. I also tried holding it down for longer than 15 seconds and it still didn't work for me.
It's safe to say I was disappointed with the results. I don't recommended using this.
I was curious and excited to try this curler as my old one died a couple of years ago after more than a decade. That beloved old thing was from a different brand, a simple wand in the shape of a pen that I applied after mascara.
Obviously technology has improved since. This Manicare version has all the bells and whistles. The gorgeous bronze gold colour has colour changing temperature sensor that heats it in less than 60 seconds.
It takes me a few go to get used to it. I find it a bit hard to gauge the right position for curling. It emits way more heat than I expected, which made me feel a bit nervous sticking it near my eyes - still prefer my old pen-like version as I could have more control about how close it was to my eyes.
I wasn't sure about the dual silicone pad, I think the one further from me isn't really helping to curl the lashes. One of my eyelashes also came off the first time I used the curler. I don't remember ever losing eyelashes using my normal metal curler!
The curler is a tad bulky and heavy for my liking but it does a decent job making my eyelashes stayed curled for the whole day. My thumb felt a bit uncomfortable holding it in place. Again, I'm bias, as my old curler was very slim and very portable.
I have difficulty curling the lashes on the outer corners of my eyes, which makes me wonder if this curler is more suitable for people with more curvy eye shapes. I'm still not successful in curling those parts but will keep trying to see if I can find a suitable angle.
Would happily recommend this to people with curvier eyes.
Tips: Make sure you have 2 AAA batteries as they're not included in the box.
