Disappointing.

I was so looking forward to wearing these to my friends wedding. Normal eyelash glue irritates my eyes so I thought these would be perfect. However, the lash band was so stiff. I like to wiggle my false lashes before wearing them to loosen them up so they fit to my eye shape better, but you couldn't do that with these. Even after I had dipped them in water, they were stiff and crunchy? I eventually got them on my eyes, but the band was stabbing into my skin (yes, I trimmed them down to fit my eyes!) and were just too irritating to wear.

Great in theory, not so much in execution.

Quite The Disappointment

Intrigued by the concept of "just add water" to adhere lashes. I've tried most other types of lashes: standard glue, magnetic, adhesive eyeliner. Was interested to see how these compared.

Gorgeous style. Taking the lashes out of the pack, they were quite stiff. The lashes are pre glued. The instructions say to dip in water. I tried dipping my finger in water and running it across the lash band. This wasn't enough. I dipped the lash band in water and got the root of the lashes wet also.

Admittedly, instructions said to wait 1 min and I probably waited a bit less than that and tried to apply the lash. Very stingy in my eyes! I think it's cause the water/glue mixture ran right into my eyes. It wouldn't stay on much to my frustration.

After trying twice more, I still couldn't get them to adhere, or for a long duration; I gave up and used adhesive eyeliner. Did somewhat manage to get the other lash adhered with water. One for each eye to compare.

The water one lasted 4 hours before I had to remove and reapply. It wouldn't stay on. Says it is for 3 applications but I couldn't get a full one use.

This is just my experience with it, but it's not for me. I'm glad i can still get use out of the lashes using adhesive eyeliner but no more water use. It's not something I'd purchase but would still recommend if your looking for an alternative lash option. It may work out better for you and if not, lashes can still be used with a glue option.

Scratchy & Awful to Wear

I have only worn false lashes 3-4 times in my life, and as a sometimes-for-special-occasion consumer I assumed I would be the target demographic for these since you just dip them in water and apply. I followed the instructions and cut the lashes to the correct length before soaking in water for 60 seconds to activate the adhesive. Applying them was a watery, slippery mess and I was thankful I was wearing minimal eye makeup. Once dry, these felt so scratchy and uncomfortable I unceremoniously ripped the eyelashes off in the middle of dinner with my friends a few hours later. No makeup look is worth this torment.

Sadly didn't work

I had high hopes for these as I've tried water activated lashes in the past with great results, but sadly I couldn't get this pair to work. After dipping in water I waited the instructed 60 seconds, the band was tacky to touch but would not hold onto my eyelid. As they stated they are reusable up to 3 times, I tried again but with the same result. Instead of dunking into water, I dipped my finger into the water and then ran my finger over the lash band. This did appear to work better but the inner corners kept lifting up as soon as I tried to stick it down. I tried with both eyeshadow on, and a bare lid but the lashes wouldn't adhere either way.

Tips: As the price point is quite affordable I would be tempted to try another pair (incase this one was a dud) I do think they are a great concept but unfortunately I couldn't get these to work.

Frustrating little suckers!

These lashes are not for me!

The band on the lash is quite thick which makes them very difficult to use. I had a lot of trouble trying to get all parts of the band stuck down at 1 time. I tried tweezers and fingers and all different ways of applying them with no luck. I could get a part down but never all at once. I use fake lashes often enough that I don't normally have issues applying them.

The adhesive seems to work if you can get it down. However I found my eyes were stinging a lot, guessing from the adhesive. Not ideal!

I like the idea of water activated as it is less messy than glue. You are able to move the lash around to get into right spot without glue going everywhere.

I think the band needs to be a lot more flexible for these to work.

The lash themselves were lovely and fluffy with a really nice shape.

I wouldn't use this product again due to the difficulties I had trying to get them on.

Too Good To Be True

I received a set of the Glam by Manicare Hydro Lash Water Activated Lashes as one of the BR Trial Team members.

The lashes came packaged in the usual rectangular box with a plastic inner tray holding the set of Daniela (#82) lashes. These lashes are described as 'wispy mink effect lashes with curled tips for incredible length'. The back of the box states that these lashes use a 'revolutionary water activated band for effortless application without the need to apply lash adhesive. Simply dip the lash band in water to activate the adhesive and apply to the lash line.' That sounded so easy, I couldn't wait to try them.

After not having worn make-up for three months (due to lockdown), I carefully applied a full face of make-up before reading the instructions for the lashes on the box. I removed the lashes from the tray, measured the fit, trimming off the excess, before dipping the lash band into a little water. And this is where the instructions weren't very clear. Step two says “Dip lash band in water. Wait 60 seconds.” Was I supposed to dip the band into the water, removing them and waiting 60 seconds for the excess water to evaporate and the glue to activate before applying the lashes? (this made the most sense to me), or was I supposed to dip the lash band in the water and wait 60 seconds before removing the lash band from the water? I chose option one. Surely, if they wanted the lashes to sit in water for 60 seconds it would have said soak the lash band in water for 60 seconds. ??

Anyway, I dipped the band, making sure to get the entire band wet without wetting the lashes. Placed the on the top of the tray they came in, set a timer, waited 60 seconds and then attempted to apply them. They just wouldn't stick. I waited another minute, in case I'd got them too wet and tried again. Still wouldn't stick. I waited another minute – nothing. I walked away and waited half an hour for them to dry fully.

I tried again, this time soaking the lash band in water for 60 seconds, thinking that maybe I'd misread the instructions the first time around. The lashes still wouldn't stick. My fingertips felt a little sticky, like I had gotten a tiny bit syrup on them, but the band wasn't sticky enough to stay on my eyelid. To make matters worse, a little of this so called water activated adhesive got into my eye where I was trying to hold the inner corner of the lash band down, and boy, did it sting! That didn't help either, watery eyes and eyelashes that won't stick just don't bond well. I gave up for the second time.

Tips: Attempt number three (half an hour later). Armed with Glam by Manicare's Adhesive Eyeliner, I was determined to stick these wispies to my lids. I applied the eyeliner, waited a few seconds for it to turn tacky and attempted to stick these Hydro Lashes down. Manicare's Adhesive Eyeliner has never let me down before … I applied the lashes – yes, yes! Nooo!!! Both corners popped up, the middle popped up, and the darn lashes just wouldn't stick. I've been using and applying false lashes for 12 years, this is not something new for me. After wasting an entire morning trying to get these eyelashes to stick to my eyelids, I'm done. These Hydro Lashes are useless.

Final verdict – don't waste your time (or money), rather just buy the lashes that come with the Manicare Adhesive Eyeliner. The lash band on the Hydro Lashes is far too thick and stiff. I like to flex and bend my lash bands to soften them and fit my eyes better before before applying them, and I couldn't do that with these ones as it felt like the lash band was cracking when I gently lifted them off the tray they came in. The fact that the Hydro Lashes just wouldn't stick, no matter what I tried, was just seriously frustrating, especially since I love using all of Manicare's other lashes. The concept behind the Hydro Lashes was brilliant, but the actual product, not so much.

Lashes that won't stick

I like the idea about Hydro lashes in order to save time. The package is nice but missing lots of information about how to use. I tried searching for videos but no luck, so I dipped then for 60 seconds and try to stick them on my lashes with no luck. So I tried to dip them longer and manage to stick them, but in about 2 hours they started to fall off from the angles. I loved the look of these lashes, very natural looking... I am saving the second apply till I see more reviews about this and hope to see some videos about how to apply.

Not impressed

I was excited to try the Manicare Hydro lash. I received the natural set and they looked very pretty and quite natural.Who wants to struggle with glue when you can get the job done using water right? Not quite as easy with these Hydro lashes. Followed the instructions but found that they just didn’t get tacky enough and I struggled to get them on. I use lashes at least once/twice a week so don’t really have issues with application. Re-dipping in water again didn’t really help either. It’s a shame that these hydro lashes didn’t work for me. I’ll have to stick to my glue and pre glued lashes. I ended up using lash glue on these and went about my day. The plus side is that the lashes are actually a pretty set and do look good once on.

Tips: Apply before doing any makeup.

I didn’t even walk out the door with them on

These were disappointing to say the least. I really really tried with them but ended up going back to my trusty favs - the magnetic ones. I was gutted as they were sleek and cute but I just could not get them to work. I don’t even know where they ended up but they’re definitely not one for the make up bag. Gutted

Tips: Don’t bother

Glam by Manicare hydro lash

On delivery I liked the look of the packaging. You could see what type of lash you were purchasing without looking at the marketing on the box. It was eye catching design on the package. I went to farmers and looked at them on the shelf, huge selection and again easy to see the different types in the range, prices being between $14-$17. The prices were great for an eyelash that you can wear 3 times. I read the instructions, they were not as specific as would like. They state to dip the lash into water to activate, I did that and waited to get the lash tacky, and applied. They did stick for a while. I had them on for a while, but they started to come unstuck. I wet them down and removed as I thought I may have not completed the steps correctly. Waited till they were dry and put them back into the packet. The next day we tried again. Wet, wait, apply. They went on but again fell off after a couple of hours. This time I went onto the Manicare web site and looked up the lashes.

Found the following: 1. Try on lashes to check fit & trim if needed. 2. Dip lash band in water for 5 seconds and then remove from water. Wait 60 seconds for the water to absorb into the lash band. 3. Apply on eyelid. Allow to dry.

To remove, wet a cotton pad with water, apply onto eye to loosen lash strip and then gently peel away. Allow lashes to dry and store in tray provided.

I wish they put this on every box for the assistance of every wearer. Because of the 2 times I used the lashes, they did not want to stick a 3rd time. With better information these may be worth while but with all the information I had on the box I would not recommend them.

Tips: Follow the instructions on the web site not those on the box.
