This is truly a multi purpose bar. I love it a s a conditioner. This leaves my hair soft and shiny, not at all oily. And, as a shaving bar, this is the best, it makes it super easy to shave and my skin is soft and moisturized. I would love to recommend this hard working bar to everyone who uses a conditioner or shaves their legs, you won't be disappointed.

This was one of the products that first attracted me to Ethique. Since discovering the damage my hair received due to heat styling when I first got into heat styling and got a ton of split ends. I got a mist in heat protector and it really helped prevent a lot of damage but I do have long hair and misting all my hair makes it wet and means it takes longer to flat iron or curl my hair. So when I saw that Ethique (Sorbet at the time) had ingeniously included a heat protectant in their conditioner bar that stays in till the next wash I had to have it. This bar smells a bit like coconut it's a bit slippery when wet and the product is very concentrated. You swipe it on your wet locks and at first it doesn't really feel like much but then you comb through your hair and your hair does indeed have product on it. My hair is soft and my long, easy tangled strands are easier to comb through The brand recommended a few swipes of this product but I like showing my flowing tresses some loving, generosity and one bar lasts me the better part of a year. I do wash my hair about twice a week and this is my go to conditioner. I used to have shampoo and conditioner in bottles but since discovering this the number of bottles of conditioner I own have diminished considerably. Do I still use a mist in heat protectant? Yes, I want to protect my hair but I don't have to apply heaps of it like I did before. It can be used as an in shower body conditioner but this works so well for my hair I haven't needed to re-purpose this bar. For those who know me and know I looove natural beauty products this is saying a lot because as a rave about this conditioner bar I know this isn't a natural conditioner. It does have some good ingredients like coconut oil and cocoa butter but other than that it is pretty much just free of nasty skin irritants and cruelty free. I also love that this is a NZ brand as well. I have repurchased this bar several times and so long as I can get ahold of one - I will own one. I highly recommend this conditioning bar.
Tips: The instructions on the site say to swipe give the bar a few swipes from root to tip. But go for as many swipes as you want because the bar will last ages. I have long hair and I use as much as want, I wash my hair about twice a week this is my default conditioner and a bar lasts me the better part of a year. Great if you like to use heat styling and don't want to have to mist every lock of hair till wet with heat protectant. I still use heat protectant before using my Instyler or hair dryer but I just use a light spray over sections of hair. You can request a free sample of this in any online Ethique order. If you do have a sample of this the bar is slippery so hold it tight so it doesn't slip out of your hand or if you have a lot of hair, get lost in your hair.
I was given this as an RAOK gift from tannygirl. But it was under the old name Sorbet. So overwhelmed with excitement when I saw it being mentioned in the forum that Ethique has been added. I couldn't wait to get this review done.
I got a small sample shaped like a cute flower. This soap is white in colour. A solid bar with a smooth texture. It smells like a subtle vanilla scent. I couldnt detect the coconut oil or cocoa butter in scent. Im not sure if this formula has changed with their branding.
I used wonderbar in my hair. It felt smooth and lushious during the time that I was cleaning my hair. This scent isn't a very heavy aroma during cleaning my hair. It felt subtly clean and soft. This disintergrates so fast. Im not sure if it was only because it was small sized. I didn't notice other bars from ethique disintergrating as fast as this one did.
I had been dreaming of trying these out for quite some time and finally got to try a couple out. I would definately love to try more shampoo bars. I never got to use this bar for shaving only on my hair.
Took awhile to get used to using a bar conditioner. This bar should last for a few months yet. My hair soaks this up. Does feel softer and hydrated though the results aren't as long lasting as some other conditioners I have used. Don't notice much in the way of scent. It is useable but I prefer other products instead.
It takes a while to get used to a conditioner bar but boy is it worth it. This hydrates and smooths the end of my hair without stripping the green hair dye. It also is great to detangle the hair too.
Tips: Use a bar saver so it has a chance to dry during the day
Oh my goodness! Wonderbar is.....wonderbar! A solid conditioner bar may seem a little too crazy for some people but it is a game changer. A beautiful delicate scent and full of natural ingredients, this bar is a winner. A small swipe goes a LONG way, It is rich, nourishing and makes your hair feel incredible.
Not only is it a conditioner, it makes for a wonderful shaving bar. A swipe or two on your legs will make your razor glide AND leave your skin nourished and moisturised.
It may seem expensive but mine lasted me almost 6 months! That is crazy good value for money. Good to the purse, good to the environment, good for you, what more could you want?!
Tips: Will last for months!
This was my first Ethique conditioner (I'm now using the Guardian) and I'm pleased to say they know their stuff.
The Wonderbar smells like vanilla, but not strongly as I find vanilla can be a polarising scent.
It's easy to use as a conditioner, just swipe down your hair, make sure you pay attention to the ends. It does feel like there's next to nothing in your hair, but when you rinse it off you realise you have in fact conditioned it.
My Wonderbar lasted me over 12 months with 3 daily use. It's too small now to use as a conditioner, so I use it sometimes as an accompaniment to shaving. It's not as great as shaving cream and doesn't allow the glide that provides, but it's better than using soap.
Tips: keep it dry, in a shower container if you can to make it last longer
I love this product and brand! My friend recommended this to me at Christmas and im so glad she did! There are so many positives... Firstly the packaging, since the product comes in a bar there is no need for plastic which is awesome for the environment and you dont have bottles clogging up your shower. The box it comes in is also compostable which is also great! It has a very nice subtle scent to it and it is made using natural ingrediants - another win! It leaves my hair feeling really nice and since using their products iv found i dont need to wash my hair as much. I also use this bar to shave my legs and my skin feels great after too which is good because i have sensitive skin. Although it is slightly more expensive, the bar lasts for ages and i think its worth it to use a product that has a good impact on the environment.
This is my first solid hair wash/conditioner I’ve used and I’m absolutely sold on that fact this has zero plastic packaging and no water to add to the weight of transit.
In terms of a conditioner I have oily hair that’s fine but still prone to frizzies at the ends. This bar takes a bit of getting used to but I found about 8 swipes from the nape of the neck down was enough to get that conditioner feeling going. It’s not as moisturising as a liquid and I still need my hair oil at the ends once it dries so for a conditioner I probably won’t buy this one again but I will try the Garnier bar version next.
But wait! - use it as an in shower body conditioner and this is an absolute winner. It’s a similar price to the Lush in-shower version and way easier to buy at the supermarket. Apply to your whole body just before the end of your shower and give it a quick rinse. You’ll get a lovely moisturised body and a nice coconut fragrance, no need to put on a cold lotion once you get out of the shower. I also see the box says to use as a shaving bar but I haven’t tried that yet as my razor has a built in moisture strip.
This bar may last up to 6 months I’m estimating even with daily use if you look after it carefully.
Tips: I always air dry then put away on top of a sponge to remove any residual water.
I love these Ethique bars and the Wonderbar conditioner is my favourite conditioning bar. Simply follow on from your shampoo bar, swipe it down your hair and massage/comb it through. You can feel straight away how smooth and silky your hair becomes.
Tips: If you haven't used these products before I would definitely recommend buying a sample kit first so you can decide which one suits your hair.
