I purchased this as I'm always keen to try anti-frizz products and well, I found the price to be nice and the bottle very convenient to use but all I got out of this was oil that didn't do anything for me except make my hair greasy and smell absolutely gorgeous. I ended up mixing this up with hair conditioner just make it worth using again. Sadly I would never purchase this product again.

Reviews
The main reason for purchasing this was that I needed a serum quickly and this was the most noticeable thing in the supermarket.
Next time I will make sure I look carefully and choose carefully because this product did not meet my expectations at all.
Using this product feels like using a straight oil, it's greasy and won't wash off your hands easily. It also does nothing for my hair - if anything it makes it worse. It just makes it look greasy and the frizzy bits stick up more.
I still have almost a full bottle and don't intend on using it again, not worth the money even if it is a little bit cheaper than other hair oils.
Tips: Take your time looking for a product, don't rush!
When will I learn? Once again I found myself standing in the beauty aisle at the supermarket, kids clamoring for lollies, fellow shoppers jostling my trolley. And I'm standing there, thinking I need to buy a hair serum . . . something just to give it a little gloss and control the wispy bits . . . got to be worth a try right? In the trolley it goes. What a hopeless optimist.
I should have been warned by the size of the bottle for a kickoff. 150mL of Sleek and Shine with a handy pump dispenser, one squirt of which gives you enough product to cover the palm of your hand. It feels weird and sticky, like baby oil. The directions say to use on damp or dry hair, so I work it through my hair prior to blowdrying. The product distributes easily enough and leaves the whole room reeking of cucumbers. My hand is also coated in grease. Can't pick up the blow dryer. Won't wipe off on a towel. Bah, I wash my hands. Twice.
I blow dry as usual, except it takes twice as long. My hair is sleek alright. And flat. Okay, so maybe I just used too much. Try again tomorrow. And the next day. After much trial and error, I have found that if I use 2 -3 drops and smooth it over the ends of my hair I get a pretty good finish. If I try using a flat iron, it seems to stick and tug my hair. If I get it too close to my scalp, my hair feels greasy.
The way I look at it, I have 150mL of so-so hair serum, of which I need approximately 0.3mL of every other day. 450 doses. 900 days. That's nearly three years supply. No way I am getting to the end of this bottle! Think I will cut to the chase and toss it out now.
I have thick wavy hair and I love a good hair product that can control the frizz without making it obvious that I have a ton of product in my hair. Over the years I have tried to appreciate this serum but it really doesn't work for me. When I think "sleek and shine" it evokes images of primped healthy hair not something that stumbled out of an oil slick.
The packaging is functional and has the signature green color of the Garnier brand. I love the fragrance which packs a solid citrus perfume-like punch but it's not enough to save this product from being an epic fail. When you pump out the product you need to be gentle to avoid dispensing too much. The serum has a smooth consistency that leaves behind a thin film on your hands; it's not overly sticky but you'll need to wash your hands afterwards.
I really like that the product moves very easily throughout my hair however I found that even a small pump leaves my hair looking greasy. Don't get me wrong the serum does control frizz and flyaways but it's at the expense of greasy looking hair which I hate. You put all this effort into straightening your hair only to douse it in oil? No thanks.
I wonder if this product is suppose to be used for those slicked back hairdos and if that's the case then yes this product is a 10/10 but it would still look greasy in my opinion. Funnily enough my sister who has thick curly hair really likes this product. She feels it makes her hair look naturally straight and appear healthy. We've agreed to disagree :-) Definitely not repurchasing this but will still see it around when my sister visits.
Garnier Sleek & Shine smells amazing in your hair. I use it on occasion but their are other products I prefer first & foremost. If you apply too much product you are only going to look like you have greasy, unwashed hair. The product has changed since it was first introduced a number of years ago. I find that it can leave you with not only a greasy looking finish but also what I call straw like hair (which I personally don't like). A little goes along way & can help to tame unruly wild curly hair such as my own. The bottle size is smaller now than original.
Tips: Use sparingly & would recommend use on dry hair to help tame rather than wet or you will end with hair feeling like straw.
I have purchased this product in the past and am no fan of it what-so-ever.
This product is very affordable, and has a great scent; but didn't do what it said it would on the label.
I applied this through mid-length to tip, and it just stuck my hair together and made my hair look "ratty" and uncared for. Basically made my hair look dirty.
Do not recommend to people who have fine strands of hair
I brought this product to help with my fluffy, fuzzy hair when straightening. It when on fine but was quite greasy and you have to becareful not to use too much. During the course of the day my hair poofed up again and the smooth look didnt last through. I have stopped using it for that reason.
I have curly hair so frizz tends to be a problem for me, i also like to colour my hair often and my hair is still very healthy. This anti-frizz serum is my favorite, it keeps my curls tamed and my hair doesnt get as easily tangled anymore. I used to honestly hate my hair but this product makes keeping it tidy alot easier. My hair is softer, healthy and shiny.
This product has been my trusty friend for almost 10 years now! Why? Simply because it successfully smooths my hair. This is a pump bottle that has a lock on it for zero waste. One bottle can last for absolutely ages. Less is more in this case. You only need a ten cent piece size of serum, rub you hands together and apply in a downward motion through your hair. I only apply this on the lower half of my hair, because I don't want the top to lose its volume or look greasy. It smells beautiful.
Tips: Start with a small amount
I think this product may need rebranding. Recently I had the colour stripped from my hair & I knew I was running out of my Miracle Oil & wanted to try another hair serum, so off to the supermarket I went & this wee baby was on special. I was a little put off as it spouts on about anti frizz, but looking at the oils, it was what I thought I needed and I was right. My hair went from dry - oh so very dry after colour stripping which involved peroxides, as well as re-colouring - so my poor hair had 5 hours of treatments at the salon. After a week of use, my hair is back to feeling smooth, strong and nourished. I still have some special moments after washing my hair, but this oil puts it back to rights quickly. It has saved my hair.
