I got this as part of the The Whole Fruit Gift Set. Since I have fine hair I use it only once a week as more of a deep conditioner (I use Veganese the other days). I really like it but don't feel it does much for my hair. Smells amazing and the scent really lingers in your hair. But wont repurchase as I can get natural hair products for the same price and they leave my hair softer.

Lush American Cream Conditioner Review
Lush American Cream Conditioner Review
Fresh strawberry conditioning cocktail
American Cream is our dreamy, medium-strength conditioner for soft, shiny, fragrant locks. Softening honey, scalp clarifying lavender and fresh oranges make a conditioner suitable for all hair types to soften rough ends and keep hair calm. Not to mention the absolutely delectable strawberry vanilla cream scent. Mark was inspired by a vision of 1950s US milk bars, where teenagers would meet and drink frothy, creamy milkshakes. He concocted our best-selling conditioner to soften and control, and evoke memories of poodle skirts and jukeboxes. No wonder it remains such a customer favorite year after year!

I had to have this, after all it is a best seller by one of the most popular brands. When it comes to hair care I don't use as many products or brands so I figured I could splurge on something to make my long, dark tresses even more beautiful. My hair type is long and fine, the ends are naturally dry because of the length. Lush products usually smell amazing and with one sniff I knew this was coming home with me. My hair was greasy since I only wash it every four or five days, I figured a light conditioner would be fine. I applied a good handful of this to my lengths and it seemed disappear in my hair, it didn't feel like much conditioner but I chocked it down to that my usual Ethique Wonderbar is a very concentrated product so maybe that's why this didn't feel like much. My hair is soft but not as smooth or soft as my usual Ethique conditioner. I left it in my hair for at least five minutes to soak in and rinsed it out. My hair isn't any more shiny or easier to detangle but it is fragranced with that yummy creamy vanilla floral scent. I am not really impressed with this except for how nice my hair smells after using this. I wash my hair at night and my hair smelt amazing while it was wet, as it dried the scent faded but lingered overnight and early the next morning but by afternoon the scent was completely gone. I wish it would've lasted longer because the lovely vanilla floral fragrance was the redeeming quality of this conditioner so that meant that if I wanted the scent to stay I would have to wash my hair everyday which isn't good for it. It does have some really yummy natural ingredients in it like honey water, fresh oranges, fresh strawberries, vanilla absolute, clary oil and lavender essential oils, but interestingly it has sodium lauryl sulfate. I don't know how much conditioners have sls but it's more of a shampoo ingredient and it dries out my hair. So other than the scent I'm not really fond of this conditioner and won't be getting this again. I think it would be nice if Lush would put this vanilla floral scent in a massage bar, body cream or butter and perhaps a hand cream or perfume since it really yummy.
Tips: I don't think this conditioner would be suitable for thicker or drier hair, might be nice for someone with more oily, shorter hair. It does have SLS so if you avoid sulfates in your hair care might be best to give this a miss.
It's very rare that I come across a Lush product which I don't completely adore. Sadly, the American Cream Conditioner is one of them.
My hair is very fine, curly, prone to tight tangles, is not colour treated but is dry at the ends and oily at the scalp. I was recommended American Cream because it is very nourishing for dry hair, and is one of Lush's thicker conditioners so is supposed to be good for untangling hair. Unfortunately, I found the consistency just too thin to properly nourish and detangle my curls. It just felt watery on my hair, and like it actually wasn't doing anything to really nourish and smooth the hair strands. My hair was very difficult to detangle, even after using copious amounts of this, and the next day after using my hair appeared quite dry and frizzy, which never happens using other brands like OGX, or even cheaper brands like Herbal Essences.
However, I think for something with hair that is more easily manageable and straight this could be a good product. The scent is lovely, although not one of my all-time Lush favourites, and is has lots of great ingredients in it to nourish your hair. Just not great for me.
As a loyal user of Lush shampoo for over a year now I finally took the plunge and purchased a coinciding conditioner. Given the glowing review of this by my friend and fellow BR member Shazatron, I purchased this.
Like my Lush shampoo (Cynthia Sylvia Stout), this comes in a large plastic bottle with the atypical Lush label. I like that you can see precisely how much product is left in it so you aren't left guessing as to when to repurchase. I got the largest size of this as my hair is super long. Although this was quite expensive I felt that if I fell in love with it the price would be worth it.
As promised by Shazatron, this smells INCREDIBLE! Although it is said online that this smells like a strawberry milkshake, I think it just smells delicious. I can't put my finger on the scents - aside from the fact that this is delicious (helpful, I know :P).
This comes out as a thick white cream. Once put into the hair it is easy to disperse. I do notice that I need quite a bit of it, around half a handful, to get into my hair. As I mentioned above though, my hair is really long and drinks this in so I assume that is why.
This makes my hair smell absolutely incredible for 2 days (I wash my hair every 2/3 days). Combined with the shampoo, it leaves my hair super soft and shiny. I love this so much and will definitely repurchase it when my current bottle runs out. I really can't imagine using another conditioner while this is still available.
This product is one of those that gets talked about so much with lush. I've heard about this for years but only recently started using it. I've actually had the bottle sitting in my collection for a few months but I used it recently on a trip away as it is in a small size.
This comes in a standard lush bottle, the same as the shower gels. I have the 100gram bottle so it is quite small. Its enough to get a good few uses out of though, I think the biggest size is 250 grams. This has a sticker with the made on date, use by date and even a little cartoon pic of who made it. I'm sure like the gels, that you would be able to get use out of this even if it was out of date too.
This smells incredible. It's descripted as a strawberry vanilla milkshake but it is so much more than that. It definitely has that sweet vanilla vibe but it has a bit extra herbal with the lavendar and sage. I could quite honestly sit here forever sniffing this one.
The first time I used this, I had it in my hair and I felt dissapointed. You know when you use conditioner and the rich ones instantly make your hair feel better? This didn't do that for me. This is quite thin and it sort of made my hair feel dry. Even after washing it, although it smelled great, it felt just blah. I have very long hair and the ends are dry anyway but I want a conditioner to fix that. Anyway, during the day I noticed that once my hair had air dried, the ends felt really soft. I was so surprised, I'd already made up my mind that I hated it when my hair was wet but I quickly had to change my mind! I notice the fragrance in my hair all day long which is a really nice bonus too.
This does work out quite expensive but I think I'll pick it up again in the future. I'd recommend it if you have dry hair like me too.
Lush American Cream *should* be my favourite conditioner, and I've gone through a few bottles of it trying to convince my hair it loves it. The texture, scent, and concept all appeal so much!
American Cream comes in the standard Lush bottles, with the same attention to detail that I love from the company, including expiry dates, notations on who made this product and when, and ingredient lists in the characteristic graffiti print.
The scent is gorgeous - creamy milkshake with a hint of the berry, a bunch of vanilla, and something that stops it being too sweet (not sure what, but I like it!). I love the creamy, milkshakey texture.
Unfortunately, this beautiful conditioner isn't strong enough for my dyed, heat styled hair. It just can't inject enough moisture into my stressed out strands. I used to get more from it, but now it's just not up to the task. I would recommend this to girls with more natural hair, or shorter hair though, as I do feel like it's delectable and gorgeous...just doesn't work for me (sadface!)
Tips: Lush are great for samples, so call in and request one to see if it's right for you!
When I first started using the Lush solid shampoo bars I was finding that my hair needed some TLC so the retailer suggested American Cream because it is thick and creamy. I was originally using the veganese conditioner but it ended up being too light and that is when I made the switch. I bought the 500g bottle for $37.90 which seemed like more economical way to go. Having short hair it should last a long time.
My initial reaction was I love how the bottles are always so green looking in the way that they look like they concentrate on what is on the inside rather than the outside. They don't have fancy pictures or lettering just the name and Lush branding. I like this approach because it means I am not paying extra just for pretty designs. Open the lid and BOOM!! The strawberry milkshake scent that hits my nose can be my friend any day. Usually I am not a fan of intense smells in my hair care products but this one left me wanting to slather myself in it. The real test will be what's inside and if it works.
Now to be $37.90 better be salon goodness because that is what they charge for their high end products. I wash my hair first with a solid shampoo bar then run a generous amount (by choice. You don't need that much) through my hair and give it two minutes to do it's job. I rinse it out and give my hair a feelskie to find out if it has made my hair feel better. In short yes it does but it doesn't give me the super smooth and healthy feeling that I want and need in my life.
Surely using a generous amount of product would set me up for optimum results? But no it doesn't. I continue to use it two, nearly three months down the line and yes my hair feels alright but I want shine and shaking my head in slow motion side to side feelings. this most definitely doesn't do that. It does work just not in the amazing way it should for the price. I think I will stick to salon $40 bottles of gold.
Tips: Use generous amounts to be the best result you can
I got a sample of this last year and fell in love with the smell. Then Shana gave me some more of a sample and I knew that I was going to take the plunge and buy a big bottle of this delicious stuff.
I bought a 500g bottle in store, something I rarely get to do. I used it the next day just so I could have the glorious smell in my hair. The smell is nothing like a strawberry milkshake, in my opinion, I can't even pick up on what it smells like... But it perfumes hair so nicely that the scent lasts all day and brings a smile to my face every time.
The conditioner is quite thin so I find I need a bit more than usual for my hair to feel conditioned but I use this once every 1-3 weeks if I remember or feel like a pick me up. It doesn't make my hair any greasier, it just leaves my hair as it found it - soft, clean and smelling even more amazing. I'm definitely going to repurchase this beautiful gem!
My partner and children went to Lush to pick out a christmas present for me. They got me this paired with Daddy-o. I was so excited because I haven't tried lush hair products until now. My hair is very dry from colouring . I struggle with dry ends that clump together and knot and dread easily. I'm searching for a miracle conditioner that can soften my hair.
Like most lush bottles their basic with nothing special . Black and white labelling. The formula of this conditioner is smooth. Not as thick as store bought conditioners. This scent reminds me of strawberrys with a hint of lillies in the background.
I shampooed with Daddy o then put this conditioner into my hair. It absorbs well. But it didn't soften my hair which is strange. I didn't get that conditioned feeling. My hair still felt a bit coarse from shampooing.
After using this my hair felt soft and smelled incredibly good. But it didn't offer any other benefits for my hair. My hair still felt dry . I've been using it for 6 months and it didn't do much for my hair.
Overall , I can't see myself repurchasing this conditioner. Just because it didn't work for me , it might work for others.
When the chance came up to go shopping in the city I had to visit the Lush store I have been addicted for months but everything I brought was from their website so the chance to go to the actual store made me giddy with excitement!
So I was walking around the store oooohing and aaahhing at all the pretties when the lovely shop assistant recommended this as it was their most hydrating conditioner for dry hair. My hair is very dry so I need all the moisture I can get so armed with the 100g bottle off I go to rehydrate my lank locks.
The first thing I notice and about this conditioner is the scent a sweet, creamy strawberry and Vanilla like a big strawberry thick shake, the colour is a creamy grey. It's not overly thick more like the thickness of a standard shampoo.
After shampooing I squeeze a little into my palm and run through my hair, it didn't feel smooth so I added more, then more until I had used almost half the bottle. It still didn't feel soft and moisturised so I gave up. After it dried I tried brushing it and I seriously felt like I had just walked through a gorse bush backwards, it was knotty and unruly. The scent was quite strong for the whole following day until I washed it again to re condition with something else to tame the mane!
I'm disappointed it wasn't more nourishing for my hair because the scent is so good. maybe it's better suited for someone who hasn't dyed their hair or doesn't have overly dry hair.
