I really don't know where to begin. I love to support essano because they are an Aotearoa New Zealand company, don't test on animals, sustainable, organic, and the rest.
I thought I'd give this shampoo and conditioner treatment a whirl - my partner often wahs on about the benefits of hemp so ok, so far I like the brand, I'm trying something he likes, it's green and that's my favourite colour, it's got a pump which is sweet. What could go wrong?
Well "low foam" was an understatement. Try no foam. I had to pump more and more into my hands to try to spread it around as once you popped it on your head, that was the only place it was going. It was immovable.
Ok fine, I'll use another few pumps and some more water to try and massage it into the second quarter of my head. Same thing. I stood under the shower nozzle and let the warm water try to naturally move it to another section of hair. NOPE. Not going anywhere.
I wound up using more and more shampoo to try and get all over coverage. I rinsed, I repeated. I rinsed and rinsed again.
I conditioned. I've blocked out the whole experience so I won't review that, it wouldn't be fair and I don't want the memories resurfacing anyway. My counsellor doesn't need that pressure.
I blowdried my hair gently. It was left feeling like I hadn't rinsed out any of the product AT ALL. It dried looking greasy and unkempt, looked like that all day. Let me assure you, I rinsed. I tried washing the whole experience off of me. There is no way any of these products were left on my head.
The only thing I can say is that by day two my hair felt lovely. But I don't want to sit thru a day looking unhygienic to have one day of nice hair before it starts looking flat and gross again. I want to do that with my usual shampoo and conditioner, wait at least 4 days before I'll tell myself I'll wash it again soon but won't. At least its on my terms.
I can't remember if I loved or hated the smell, I've blocked that out too I just remember it being a focus point.
Now I didn't just use this once and toss it. I went back a couple weeks later to put it all behind me, did some meditation so I was in the right frame of mind, and tried again. But I had the same experience and then tossed it (to my mum, who also hated it and gave it to a friend. I don't know what friend thought and I don't care at this point.
Good luck to you, good ladies who try this. Good luck to you.
Tips: Sample it if you are happy to waste perfectly good money or just want to see if it works better for you. I wish you nothing but the best.
