This product surpassed my expectations. I was quite sceptical about using it and a little nervous. The toning effect was very professional - I would say equally as good as the toning I receive at the hairdressers. I will definitely buy this product it is brilliant!

Tips: I did use it while in the shower. I just made up the solution in a large container and after shampooing and conditioning my hair I tipped it on! No staining or problems at all.
This product comes in a small plain looking box, it has text saying how easy and effective the product is to use, but doesn't indicate how you use it. Inside the box is 2 compartments, one for instructions, the other has the bottled product. The bottle is really small, at a glance it looks like a nail glue or something similar.
I found the instruction sheet a little confusing because it has pictures and instructions of Brilliant Silver Rose in there too. I recommend reading all the instructions before you start to make sure you understand what to do.
The instructions (in a nutshell) say to add the required drops of product to 1 litre of water, wash & condition your hair, towel dry, then pour the water evenly over your hair.
There is then a table that helps you decipher how many drops of product to use, based on your current hair colour and the effect the product will have; but this is pretty vague, for example saying 5-15 drops for the desired effect.
My roots are quite a brassy blonde and then ombre's down to my tips which are white blonde. The ends of my hair are quite dry, the instructions advise the product may have a more vibrant effect on dry hair.
With this in mind I went for the number of drops somewhere in the middle of the recommended range. It was fairly easy to control the number of drops that come out of the bottle. The liquid is a very concentrated and pigmented violet colour, it will stain your skin if you splash it (yes this happened to me...). I feel like you could get quite a lot of usage from this tiny bottle, because you are only using such a small amount.
Once I had my toner and water mixture ready, I had to try and position myself over the bath in a way that meant I could evenly pour it over my hair. To clarify, you can't jut get back in the shower and throw this over your head, as it tells you it can stain your skin, so you should cover your shoulders. I decided to split the mixture into two halves, pour one over the back of my head and the other over the front... although when doing this alone, pouring over the front was very awkward!!
After applying I towel dried and styled as normal. As it warned, my dry ends had gone a very dull, silvery purple colour, but the rest of my hair was nicely toned. The purple faded after a few days, and after another wash had almost completely gone, leaving me with a very cool toned blonde with no brassiness in sight!
I would liken the results to the Fudge Purple Shampoo. The application 'in theory' is easy, but you have to apply it to freshly washed hair, so I would prefer a product I can apply in the shower, rather than messing around with making up a mixture then towel drying my hair only to re-wet it. I was impressed with the effect such a small amount of product I had to use, but the application is a bit of a gimmick, and for the price I think I'll stick with my purple shampoo.
Tips: Get someone to help you pour it over your hair!
I absolutely LOOOVED this product ! I was very luckily chosen to review it for Beauty Review and I am so glad that I was ! I have ombre hair ( my tips are blonde and the rest of my hair is a light brown colour) and it worked amazingly it made my tips go from a nasty un treated yellow toned blonde to a nice white bright and soft looking blonde BUT it didn't end there ! My natural hair colour has gone lighter also which I am stoked with ! (if you didn't want this to happen you would only put it on your blonde bits) I read the directions very throughly first as I didn't want my hair to fall out or something crazy (HAHA) I found it very easy to follow the only thing I could recommend to the company would be to provide plastic gloves in the packaging as these can be hard to buy as singles ( who really needs a whole box of them unless you are a doctor lol ) so over all I am soooo happy with this product and will definitely continue to use it ! I wish I knew about it when I was platinum blonde ! Thanks Beauty Review :)
Tips: -Buy plastic gloves before use. -Read directions carefully. -Condition your hair thoroughly before using it. -Only put on parts of your hair that you would like to change.
I really liked this toner, it really made your hair a nice silver blonde 'as long as it was already quite blonde' but when your hair is very light, the colour it gives is amazing, it evens out the blonde and definitely gets rid of the brassy colours. I don't really like how it's a leave in toner and you just mix it with water, I found that it made my hair feel quite dry. however i think if you just used it for special occasions etc it's well worth it.
Tips: definitely don't use all the time it's quite drying on hair.
Firstly, My natural hair colour is a dark blonde/light brown. I lighten it to a proper blonde. The shade I currently use is Schwarzkopf's Live: Sandy Blonde 9-60. I am cool toned, so I suit ashy blondes, rather than golden shades. The longer I go between dyeing my hair, the more golden it gets, so using a toner to combat the golden shades is a good idea.
Packaging: Brilliant Silver White comes in a small white box. Inside is the bottle of toner and instructions. The toner bottle looks very small, (15ml) but you don't have to use very much to get the desired effect, so it will last a lot longer than you think.
Process: I followed the guidelines for "Permanently Coloured Hair." The recommended dose was 10-20 drops per litre of warm water. I went with 15, which seemed like a good in-between amount.
I washed and conditioned my hair as per step one. Then I towel dried it. I then added 15 drops of the toner to 1 litre of warm water. Then I poured it over my hair by leaning over the shower. Afterwards I applied my hair oil, towel dried my hair some more, and then let my hair air dry for a while before using my hair drier.
Result: The product really does work. My hair was noticeably a much ashier shade. It has been about 3 weeks since I lightened my hair, and normally it would be looking more golden in colour about now.
Tips: Since the toner is a concentrate, it looks very purple when applied to the water. Do not worry, as it does not result in purple hair. Be careful of surfaces, as the instructions warn that some staining may occur, and it can be easy to splash it around.
Another thing to be careful of is that if your hair is quite dry, or porous, it may end up looking slightly blue in places. This happened to me the first time where some blue remained on the ends of my hair where it was drier and lighter than the rest of my hair. So if your hair is extremely lightened, or bleached, you may want to use fewer drops than the recommended amount. The second time I used the toner, the blue effect didn't happen, so it is worth persevering with the product and getting the balance right.
I was so excited to trial this product. I naturally have dark blonde hair which i have been getting blonde foils in for years, my hair has always thrown to a gold after a couple of washes, no matter what i have tried.
This product came in a simple white box and the product in a small 15ml container. It had really easy instructions, you mix so many drops with water and tip this mixture over your hair evenly, which definatly is a flaw for me and is it not the easiest to tip water over your hair i would far rather a constincy like shampoo.
i followed the directions and noticed straight away that a lot of my hair had the purple shade through it, even once fully dry it was still purple!!! after washing my hair twice the purple was mostly out, to be honest i didnt notice much of a change to my hair other than it being purple. i will try this again but with a lower dose than they reccomend.
Tips: beaware you may need to do this outside as it can stain a lot of surfaces, and you also need to buy a pair of gloves to help put the product on.
Having very white blonde hair I was very exciting to be selected for this trial. The product comes in a little box with the treatment and an instruction manual. Firstly I found the instructions to be very confusing because they had different instructions for different treatment colours on there. So please please make sure that you read them carefully.
Once I had worked out how many drops I needed I added it to the water required. The next issue I had was to work out how to get it over my hair evenly, I ended up having to call in the husband to make sure that it didn't spill everywhere.
The result- It was good, I don't feel that it really got across my hair evenly and it does have a strong purple undertone.
I think overall if you have a few blonde foils in your hair then it would be great, however for someone like me that really needs to get it evenly over everything it was just to much hassle.
Tips: Get someone to help you pour it over your hair evenly!
When BR offered me to trial this I wasn't quite sure what to expect. But I thought I could always do with a bit of a bit of a toner into my highlighted blonde hair. As a bit of a background I have dirty dark blonde hair and I have been getting blonde highlights put into my hair for the last 6 to 7 years. It does get quite brassy, especially at the ends where there is a lot of dye.
The packaging of this is quite small. A wee box and inside the instruction booklet and a small white bottle of extremely purple liquid. Once you take the lid off you only use a few drops of it in a litre of water and the bottle is really easy to squeeze to only get what you need out. The instructions were quite good. So you put a few drops in water then put this over your washed towel dried hair. I think this bottle will last forever given how little you need to use. I found it weird that you didn't need to wash it out... I looked on the instructions and on the website and found nothing so I just did what I was told.
So I found the whole process of putting this over your hair while it is towel dried quite strange. I just don't understand how they can say that this is quick and easy to apply when it is such a faff. I would much rather use a normal purple shampoo once a week, at least that is easy to use. I did however like the effect of this toner on my hair. It made my hair look a lot less brassy. However after all the faff of using this it is a temporary fix. I must admit that on some parts of my hair I found a wee bit of a purple tinge but it wasn't all over my head so I wasn't too concerned. I did find that it lasted more than one wash with shampoo which was great but my hair was back to normal after two to three washes.
I did enjoy the effects of this product and I think I will be keeping it in my kit for special occasions where I need something to make my hair look extra nice. But to others I think I would suggest a purple shampoo before I would suggest this.
I have bleach blonde hair which always has quite a yellow tone to it. I was super excited to try this so as soon as i got it in the mail i had to try! Well 1st off it had easy to follow instructions until i actually tried it! I found it quite hard to get onto my hair as you have to mix it with water and its hard to get the liquid onto your head. I followed the instructions for my hair colour and my hair ended up being pretty much the same at the roots to about half way down and where my hair is pretty porus at the ends turned purple! It did fade by the next day into a silver but the roots to half way down didnt change at all. It has in the instructions to wear gloves which would have been great if the box had some in as i dont have them at home so i didnt wear any. But it only stained my hand for that day and quickly faded so not too worried about that. I think it would have been easier to apply with a different method rather than tipping it on your hair straight from the jug/container. I am going to try a different way to apply it in the next few days so will update on how that goes with some tips :)
The fist thing I have to say about this product is use it sparingly!! It is a teeny tiny little bottle but do not let that fool you this stuff is so incredibly pigmented. I have super light hair that I usually tone to the "silver" look so I followed the instructions for this and used 20 drops in a litre of warm water and poured it over my head into the bath tub. The whiter pieces of my hair went bright purple and the rest went a nice bold silver tone which I really like, but for people who are expecting a soft silver/platinum tone might be in for a shock if they get a bit happy on the drops. Although it only takes a few seconds to apply I think it is really tricky to get an even result so I would recommend combing through any knots first then pouring from all angles instead of just the one side or just from the top. I did notice that this left no staining to my hands at all but left some major staining to my white bath tub and even to the glass bowl I mixed it in. My hair feels great, not heavy or like it has any residue left in it and it doesn't leave any fragrance behind. I'm actually really impressed by the power of the tiny little bottle and will totally be purchasing this when I run out....although a little goes a long way so this would last a good few months even for long hair like mine.
Tips: Use lesser drops the first time until you work out your perfect mix ratio.
