I lusted over these screw like bobby pins after seeing good reviews and YouTube unboxings of the March BRBB which I contained these. When I first saw the package I thought "three, is that all you get?". I have super thick long hair and have to use a million clips to hold my bun in place. But I was pleasantly surprised to find that three of these spinners were enough.
I usually tie my hair up in a pony tail then twist my hair around and secure them with the spinners. They keep my bun tight and secure all day. Usually during the day my bun would come loose and I would lose the nice circular shape I had in the morning. These spinners keep my bun in a nice tight round all day. The real test for me was being able to run and play sport without my bun coming loose. Sadly it didn't quite past the test. I had to keep readjusting the spinners and re-tying my hair. I have however tried adding another hair tie after I twist my hair around which gives more security and stabilises the bun better.
Make sure you push the spinner right deep down into the bun for maximum strength. It will also ensure that your hair completely covers the spinners. I have also found that the paint on the spinners has started to come off due them being rubbed against each other when screwed into my bun. This is not really an issue for me as I have quite thick dark hair, so my hair always covers the clips. But if you have light or blonde hair you would want to make sure your hair covers the spinners so they are not visible.
Overall I think these clips are really good. They are strong and sturdy too so would last ages before wearing out. My bobby pins stretch quite easily and become loose, especially when using them for buns, so I end up going through a packet of those clips quite quickly. So for $5 for three bobby spinners is pretty good. I have been using these spinners for by buns and they always turn out perfect. If you struggle with managing to hold your bun up or getting that nice a round shape I definitely recommend using these.
In theory these sound good having the strength of 20 bobby pins in one spinner. But unfortunately it doesn't work for my hair because it is too thin. They struggle to grip onto my hair and stay there. They also succeeded in making my hair very knotty. I can tell they would be great if you had thick long hair - so I shall be passing onto a friend with hair like that.
