I do a lot of hair ups and rockabilly styles and this ring is a staple in my hair kit. So easy to use anyone can do it. And it makes your hair look super professional. Make a ponytail, tie it up, slip ring over ponytail and ta tah done. The thing I really like is 2 sizes available I use the largeest one because even though my hair is only shoulder length it is super thick I found the smaller ring didnt quite hold in place. I highly suggest this is a staple in all hair kits.
Tips: Holds best if your hair is a wee bit dirty or I use sea salt spray on my ponytail just before I slip the ring on for extra grip
I have the 2 sizes. I got them from the warehouse. I have long hair below my shoulders that is fine but lots of it.
I find it works best for me when I don't straighten my hair as the wave helps keep them in place. You put your hair in a ponytail, thread the ring over, wrap the hair around and pin into place. I also like to use a hair tie, once the pony tail is up, thread it over and get the hair tie and place it over and it pulls the hair in tight and leaves all the ends out all messy.
I was so excited when I saw these out with the sock and in with the real thing. I got a dark coloured one and a light coloured one, it's good there's a choice (multi coloured hair for me) so if a bit of hair misses it, it's quite hard to see what's in my hair as it just blends in. Bonus as the sock I was using was grey with orange dots so had to be so careful to cover every bit of it.
Any way out of the plastic bag this looks like a doughnut, a squishy springy thing, if it was rolled open it would have a fine chicken wire appearance made of a plastic type stuff.
So in with the ponytail this on my hair and I roll it down pushing my hair through it winding its way down, I then carefully push it over my hair tie, so the perfect bun, I toss in four bobby pins and this bun stays the day neat and tidy no moving. When I remove it, it comes out relatively easy, a few hairs trapped in it nothing to worry about.
Next bun no hair tie I just push my hair through this more bobby pins, I made a messy bun(that's more me) this stayed the day. I have given this a bit of grief as I've stuck the pins in it and no damage.
This is easy to use, holds hair up value for sure.
I have always wanted to create the perfect bun and hoped this bun ring would be my ticket to a professional bun. But alas...
While Cameo's Professional Bun Ring certainly elevates my bun from flop to actual bun. I still didn't find it looked as good as how it's advertised to work.
Cameo's bun ring comes with the ring, 4 pins for the bun and a hair tie. This is alll in a bit of plastic with a cardboard backing.
I will keep using it and definitely practicing with it. But I didn't feel like I had a professional looking bun.
However before this puts anyone off, I do want to point out that I am rather useless when it comes to giving my hair an up do, so it could be me not the product. I will update this review if I find my buns look more like the picture.
I bought one of these on one of my random Warehouse shopping trips -I was actually supposed to be buying cameo bobby spinners (still love those).
I got this in the blonde shade which is actually quite close to my medium/dark blonde hair.
I use a bun all the time but normally a quick messy one so I was after a more sleek polished look.
My hair is down to almost my waist and fine but a lot of it. I tied my hair into a pony tail using the hair tie and popped the bun ring over the top. There is several ways you can do this you can wrap your hair round the donut and roll it down until you get to the base of your head this give you a super tight sleek looking bun. I prefer to pull my pony tail through and wrap it around the bun securing with the bun ins which gives it a bit more of messy look which is a little more my style. The bun pins are great at sliding nicely into the donut without wrecking it and holding my hair in place. My hair held in place all day which was perfect. When I came to undo this at bedtime I had no hassles or tangles (my hair can tangle quite easily!)
Overall I thought this was a great quick tool for the perfect wee bun. Will definitely continue to use this.
I actually got these a couple of weekends ago for my little one's stage performance. they were required to do high buns for the show... I was panic-stricken when i found out. I suck at buns and i was haunted by nightmares of her bun falling out mid-performance on stage!! Soooo I went and bought these - hoping for a miracle... and with some practice runs a couple of days before the show (I wanted to see how long they would hold and if they can hold my girl's long hair) I have to admit I had mastered the art of a perfect high bun! Come performance day, my little girl had the highest most perfect bun :) well maybe not the most perfect but it was still pretty impressive and it lasted the whole show - no hair spills at all... Now I'm a convert...I use it for myself alot now - almost twice a week... so easy to put hair up either in a sleek and smooth look or in a tousled, loose one. Comes with a hair tie and pins which is pretty cool!
I love the idea of this it looks amazing on some people, how ever I'm finding it a bit difficult as I have a lot of thick hair which makes it a bit harder to put it all up and have it look good. Can't wait to give it another go once my hair has been thinned out. Practice makes perfect right.
Tips: I You tube them to find easy ways to help make it look better
I quite like the idea of this and i like that they have a range of colours. I have Blonde hair so i got the light one and its quite a lot bigger than i thought it would be. I have quite long thick hair so i knew this would look huge once i got it sorted. It was really easy to use and has a little guide with it. My hair was in the tidiest bun using this so i need to use it more, it stayed put all day and the colour was pretty close. I found that using it with my hair dry and straight was the easiest way.
Tips: 4 pins wasn't enough but i have an abundance of them so that was ok.
This bun ring comes in a small and a large size as well as two colours for light and dark hair. There's also four bun pins with it to tuck all the messy ends away.
All you need to do is tie your hair up in a pony tail and slide your hair through the ring. Once in place tip your head forward, making sure the ring is completely covered by hair, then put the provided hair tie over the bun to hold it in place. To tidy up the messy ends I like to wrap them around the base of the bun and pin them underneath it.
It's a bit hard to do when your hair is super clean and smooth so it's a good idea to brush through something like a bit of hairspray first to get some grip rather than slipping everywhere.
You get a super polished, professional looking style with minimal time and effort using this. It's become a staple for me when going for a presentable look.
