I love ashy toned hair and quite often purple shampoos ate not strong enough, this one's great!
Tips: Don't use it in every wash or reduce the time you'd normally leave a purple shampoo on.
I had my hair done with balayage colouring and the bleach made my hair rough and frizzy. I was told I’ll have to have it cut which I was reluctant to do but tried a couple of other treatments so was getting ready to book that dreaded appointment. This damage rewind system by Fudge was my last chance. I was blown away but the instant results after one use. The system includes the Shampoo, Conditioner and treatment.
The fragrance is lovely and light, and you don’t need heaps of product. It’s a dark purple and lathers very easily. You need less than you think. I do a quick wash, rinse out then shampoo again. This shampoo requires it to sit in for 5 minutes so the colour can get rid of those brass tones and let the treatment in it work its magic. It’s a little unusual but it makes a nice relaxing shower or bath with an Ebook. After that, you rinse and use the conditioner which doesn’t stay in. This review focuses on the shampoo, however.
Because it contains a treatment, I used it all over my hair where normally, I would focus on the roots. My hair felt smoother after using it and it definitely helps get rid of those brassy tones. My hair did have a slight purple tint after using the full system, which I liked, but you can leave the shampoo and treatment in for less time depending on the end result you want.
I used it with the whole system though so can’t speak to how it functions alone. After another use, I am really happy with how my hair is progressing and I may not need that cut so soon after all!
The next day, my hair retains the light fragrance so I am very happy with this product.
I have blonde balayage through my naturally mid-brown hair, and I hate the orange tones that consistently push through. I've always used Fanola toning shampoos and masks, but Fudge is such a well-known brand so I was keen to compare the two.
As a toning treatment, the shampoo is pretty good. I always think it is a positive sign when the product stains your fingernails purple in the shower - and this certainly has that effect. It didn't combat the orange tones in my hair, but it targets yellow tones nicely.
As a shampoo, I instantly felt all the life being stripped out of my hair. It was coarse and dry almost as soon as I applied the product. Even after applying conditioner, it still felt like the lustre and softness had been permanently ruined.
Considering the product is marketed as 'Damage Rewind' I was extremely disappointed. I would go so far as to say my hair feels more damaged after using this shampoo.
For the sake of this BR trial, I used the shampoo 3 times to give it a fair shot. But I will NOT be using it again, and definitely don't recommend it. If is okay for toning your blonde hair, but follow with a good masque or Olaplex.
I was so excited to trial the Fudge Clean Blonde Damage Rewind Shampoo for 2 reasons.
One, because my brassy-gold 'blonde' hair was crying out for an effective toning shampoo, and secondly because it also desperately needed some 'damage rewind' after years of highlights and straightening.
I have to say, that this product actually rocks!
From the very first time I used it, once my hair had dried, I could tell instantly that the overall condition and tone of my hair was better.
My hair appeared more ashy straight away. In fact, it is so effective that I would be nervous to use it too many consecutive days because I think it would make my hair white.
I love everything about this - from the sleek packaging to the yummy (almost edible) scent, the instant results and the way that it makes my hair look and feel.
Online this sits around the $30 mark, which I think is extremely affordable. I intend to use this only once every 1-2 weeks, so this will last me a very long time.
Every blonde needs this. It lives up to what it claims.
I will 100% be buying this again!
I found that this product is a good option for purple shampoo. Be careful of staining as it can get on your hands and stick! Definitely use gloves if you are using it all the time. I like the bottle and the ease of opening the lid. Smells pretty good and I enjoyed using it. It definitely made a difference to the brassy tone of my hair. I was worried about staining. Make sure that you don't use it everyday however as it can make a blueish tone in your hair. Overtoning is never a good time for blondes. I would recommend using every couple of washes. Pair with the matching conditioner for a smooth finish.
Tips: Use gloves to prevent staining. Pair with the matching conditioner for best results.
I've had so many problems with purple shampoos, to the point I was dilluting it with normal shampoo and still my hair would have patchy purple sections afterwards, not to mention leaving my hair dry and crunchy - simply awful, to the point I gave up on purple shampoos.
Then I got chosen to trial the Fudge Clean Blonde Rewind range and I can only say I've found my holy grail. First use I was nervous so wasn't going to leave it on for some minutes like the directions said. It's a different 'purple' from most shampoos - it's like an iridescent violet colour... I popped it through my hair and immediately the bright purple suds appear... I massaged it in for about 30 seconds and rinsed! Followed with the rest of the system... First impressions - I didn't have the patchy purple hair. The yellow/brassy was a little less and my hair was a nice ashy blonde but not too ashy. It was a subtle change. So confident that I wasn't going to be purple/patchy the next use I left it in for a few minutes, and I wasn't disappointed. The colour was perfect - almost a beige blonde but the niggly yellow ends had gone! Perfection! I was so excited drying my hair and seeing it this lovely blonde like I'd just left the salon
Whats even better. My hair felt lovely and soft and the harsh dryness I usually get with 'blonde' systems was they case with this Fudge range.
I'm hooked. This is the holy grail Blonde shampoo and system - I love it!
I absolutely love this shampoo! Blonde or purple shampoos are something I regularly use but this one really stands out from the rest. My main reason for using a purple shampoo is to help reduce some of the brassiness which often comes with having blonde hair. This shampoo certainly does the trick, to the point that it can do it a little too well if you happen to let it sit on your hair for more than a few minutes. This is actually great, as sometimes I find my hair can show a bit more yellowing than other times. I tried this on it's own, using my regular conditioner and it still was noticable which is great if you happen to run out of the Fudge Clean Blonde Conditioner. It does however work beautifully with it too! When squeezing the shampoo out of the bottle, I was surprised how dark purple it is. There are clearly a lot of pigments in the shampoo. You don't have to use a lot to get the job done well. Also don't be alarmed at the colour of the rinsing water! It doesn't have an over powering fragrance but maybe a slight sweet smell. I don't think I would need to use this every time I shampoo, as the colour seems to stay pretty well. It would just depend on what I've been doing I think. I would also imagine that the shampoo would take quite a while to get through, since it is pretty powerful. So this would definitely give it a tick for economy and also the price line on this is pretty comparable to other salon haircare, but because you only need a small amount I think it would last longer. I loved the look of these tubes. They are striking, modern and pretty cool actually. I love how my hair looks and feels after using this. It is stronger and smoother. I will definitely repurchase! I would definitely recommend this shampoo to any blondies out there or perhaps anyone embracing their greys to give them that ashy blonde or grey look.
Tips: Wash it really well off your hands, as you could find it staining them just a little bit.
I've had varying shades of blonde hair for the past 6 years (naturally dark brown) and have used a ton of different shampoos to try and stop it from going brassy. This is hands down the best!! It evenly toned my hair and left it looking like I'd just had my hair coloured at the salon. The consistency is quite thick and goes a long way so instead of the almost palm full I'd usually have to use, a little more than a 50c coin size was plenty - and I have long, thick hair! The shampoo left my hair feeling and looking super healthy and hydrated. It's been way less fluffy/frizzy and knotty than usual. Cannot recommend this product highly enough!
Tips: I left the shampoo in for about 2 mins before rinsing
This shampoo comes in a nice vibrant bottle. I have fine highlighted hair and this shampoo tones the brassiness very well without making your hair feel brittle and dry like some purple shampoos do. It feels conditioning and doesn’t make your hair all knotty while washing it, You don’t need much and it lathers up nicely. It has a lovely fragrance and I would definitely use it again.
Tips: Use a small amount as it lathers up nicely
The packaging is a 250ml plastic tube that was thankfully taped down by BR for delivery to avoid spillage. The directions were very hard to read on the back of the container as a was very small font size so I went to their website to get the directions.
I use and have used a few different purple shampoos as my hair does tend to "fire up" and go the golden colour so needs cooling down of the colour regularly.
When I first squirted out the purple shampoo I was terrified as it was a very deep purple and my past experience with the Schwarzkopf Good Bye Yellow purple shampoo of the same colour, hair went green (!!!) - don't EVER use that one folks! However I bit the bullet and made my first application. The shampoo had a lovely aroma which I liked. The first application did not froth up much, which it usually does with my current shampoo, so I rinsed and did another application which did froth up. It recommends to leave on unrinsed for up to 5mins. I only did 3mins as was a bit scared it would make my hair go green. I rinsed off and noticed my wet hair was definitely darker and not brassy. I then applied the Fudge Blonde conditioner - my next review - and combed it through my hair. I did have more hair fallout/breakage than I normally get so hopefully that was just a once off. My hair wasn't tangly though so not sure why that happened.
Overall after using the shampoo, conditioner and treatment, I was very happy with the final colour after I dried it and there was not hint of brass and my hair was a cooler beige/blonde which I preferred totally. My hair was very soft and I found that it was very nourished. Usually I get oily hair after a day but it is day 3 and even though I am due to wash it, it looks ok.
Highly recommend.
Tips: Leave the shampoo on for the 5mins as it will be fine but less will still work.
