LOVE LOVE LOVE! I use this every time I wash my hair and I am obsessed! The smell is so good you could eat it, but seriously...don't - it probably wouldn't taste very nice. It makes my hair super smooth, and conditioned - like ive just come back from the hairdressers! The scent lasts all day in my hair too! Also seems to make my hair easier to straighten - I have medium length hair, but A LOT of it! I prefer this to The Body Shop Banana range - more affordable, just as natural, you get loads more in just one product alone. I will deffo be trying the other products in this range!

Tips: Try to avoid your scalp/roots....it made my hair greasy after the first use! Just use on the mid-ends of your hair :)
I have been using the Garnier Fructis Nourishing Banana Hair Food on my hair every third day and the banana smell is gorgeous and lasts the whole time until I wash my hair again.
The round container which it comes in is quite big at 390mls and not able to be held in my usual conditioner place in the shower holder.
The first time I used this conditioner, I used too little and had to dive into it again to rub it through my hair. I usually only need as much as the shampoo I put on my hair, but needed quite a bit more scooping it out with my wet hands. The container needs to be unscrewed before shampooing. With wet hands it is harder to use with water running into the container while I'm trying to scoop out some conditioner for my hair. It would be much better to have in a longer plastic bottle which could be squeezed out.
I love the smell and the soft feel of my hair after using this. The container is brightly coloured in yellow and certainly catches your eye.
Tips: Before shampooing hair unscrew the lid as this is harder to do after shampooing with wet hands and you get water dripping into the conditioner container.
The first thing I did when I received this product for review of course was to open and smell it. It smells so so yummy and delicious and looks like yoghurt so was hard not to try it:) It comes in pretty much big container and have a reasonable price. I love that it is natural and free of nasty things. You can use it 3 ways and is meant to nourish dry hair. Honestly I don't see what is difference between using this as condition or hair mask. I tried both way and seems the same for me. For hair mask I just left it a bit longer. It is easy to apply, don't need too much, the texture is nice and rinses well. After washing the smell stays for a long while and my hair feels really soft and easy to brush. My husband tried it too as a leave in treatment and absolutely loved it. The smell is not feminine and is great for men too. Now he uses it so much more than I do and he is happy with his soft hair. Bonus points for me he smells so good now:) I think this is really lovely product and I'll buy other products from the same range too.
I love this product! Previous to trialling the banana hair food my hair was very dry and damaged. After using it for a week I can feel and see the difference in my hair. It is so much softer to touch and smells amazing! I tried it as a conditioner, mask, and leave in treatment. Love that one product can be used in different ways. I will be finishing off this huge tub and then will definitely be buying more!
Tips: When using as the leave in treatment make sure you only use a small amount.
I was so excited to be chosen to trial this! It’s a huge tub, bright yellow so you can’t forget/miss it.
It smells delicious - like the Starbursts banana. My hair has old colour, not bleached, and is really thick, brittle and dry. The product is thick and a little goes a long way! It works amazingly as a conditioner, leaving hair smooth, nourished and manageable.
I also like it as a mask - I just left it in while I was using body wash and also had good results. \nI find it a bit thick as a leave-in treatment so probably wouldn’t use it for that.
Overall, I find it a great product and would repurchase once I run out, which will probably be a while since a little goes such a long way!
I received this product on the 2nd July and used it as a conditioner, a mask and have also tried it as suggested as a leave in product. I found it easy to use, it distributed easily in my hair and was easy to wash out. My hair is certainly softer and has more shine, and doesn't feel heavy . I love the scent , as it is not too strong . I am looking forward to using it longer to find out if it does hydrate and repair as suggested on the label
Tips: On the label it was suggested a 10-cent amount be dispensed on the hair for using as a leave in product but there was no real guidance to the amount to use for the other procedures.I found the 10 cent was good
The ingredients list has ‘banana juice’ amongst the top half of the list. I’m not sure if this is from real bananas or a not.
The hair food comes in a generous sized tub, it’s really easy to scoop it a nice decent chunk of product. Admittedly, when using a cream product in the shower, I wish it was in a pulp or squeeze bottle for ease of use and to avoid getting shower water in the container.
The banana flavour is very sweet, almost like a banana bubblegum flavour; it’s a very pleasant smell that I really enjoy.
There are 3 possible uses of the hair food; hair conditioner, hair mask or leave in conditioner. I have tried all three. In all honesty I have a tendency to let conditioners sit in my hair for a minute or so anyway, so I found the use as a mask and conditioner much the same. It did make my hair visibly soft and shiny which I really like. I also loved that I could occasionally get a ‘whiff’ of the banana smell during the day.
When I used it as a leave in conditioner I did not like the results. I have dry, coloured ends but my roots can get greasy. I applied a small amount of product to the ends of my hair when towel dried. My hair looked really dirty and greasy within hours of drying. I wouldn’t use this as a leave in conditioner again.
Overall I really liked the banana hair food, it smells delicious an it works well as a wash out conditioner. I will continue to enjoy using the rest of my tub!
Tips: Only use as a leave in conditioner on very dry hair, it was too oily for mine (I have dry coloured ends)
I enjoyed using the Banana Hair Food Mask, it felt like a treat for my hair and smelt amazing and I don't even like banana's! I should also add the smell lasts in your hair until the next wash, it is really quite fragrant so possibly not for you if you do not like strong fragrance.
My hair is long and is quite dry on the ends which are prone to splitting. I can see from using this product a few times now how much my hair has improved. It is much softer, and the ends definitely have more moisture. However I did not like this mask as a leave in conditioner and preferred to use it after conditioning my hair. I found the length of time I left it in without rinsing it out did not make a lot of difference to how my hair felt afterward. I used it more like an additional step in my regular shampooing and conditioning.
I like the large tub the product comes in, its different and enjoyable to scoop out a big dollop with your fingers and loving the main ingredients of banana, shea butter and coconut oil. All trending at the moment.
The product is of generous size and of 98% natural origin, I would recommend trying this if you have dry hair and in need of some hydration.
The mask comes in other flavors, aimed at doing different things. I am keen to try the Papaya Mask next!
Tips: Use weekly to give your thirsty ends a good drink. Winter is the perfect time to try this product as our hair is often dry and the sweet banana scent gives reference to the coming summer.
This is a delightful hydrating conditioner and if you like the smell of bananas you will love it.
You can use it 3 ways as a conditioner, mask or a leave-in treatment. I left it in for a minute or so and my hair felt oh so soft. The smell is so yummy and lasted till the next wash. It felt as good as going to the hairdresser for a treatment. My girls have long hair and was easy to comb afterwards and they both loved it.
The added bonus is that it is 98% naturally derived.
This has now become a staple in our household!
Tips: Put the required amount in a plastic cup so your daughters don't use too much ;-)
Not a huge fan of this one. Sure it made hair feel nice but I didn’t think it was anything marvellous. The smell I found to be very strong and overwhelming, and lingered long after putting the product in.
