I was super stoked to get on this trial, because I love hair products and I love my hair! I knew the tub was big but I didn't realize it was THIS big, a whopping 390 grams of delicious hair mask. In my experience hair masks come in 200g or smaller amounts, so I was very pleased to have such a large amount.
The product is a creamy off white and holy sh* is it thick!!! It also smells absolutely glorious! I'm not sure if it's goji berry esque, but it's still very nice. It applies very easily, I start from the tip of my hair and work backwards. It's easier to apply to wet hair but it's not impossible to apply on dry. Onto the results!
As conditioner: Less is definitely more with this. I applied maybe the amount of a 5c piece and found that it was plenty to cover my hair. Rinsing out my hair felt silky and smooth but once it was all out it kinda felt... dry? Like I hadn't put any in at all. I refrained from adding more and dried it partially au natural, partially with the help of my hair dryer. My hair felt soft and hydrated, even the super faded color looked good. I think I had less frizzy flyaways too. My only gripe is that my hair felt a little heavier than usual, and it got oilier faster than usual.
As a leave in: Again, less is definitely more! I ran my finger over the top of the product once for each side (so twice) and that was plenty for my tips. However it made my hair heavy, and was harder to brush - with oil it brushes easily and feels soft to the touch, it was the opposite with this. My hair didn't feel all that soft, it was weighed down but it smelled good. Not sure that's a selling point but! However after I rinsed it out the next day in the shower, my hair felt really good.
As a mask: I've tried this two ways, before shampooing and after shampooing like suggested. My preferred method is the former, simply because of how my hair reacted to this as a conditioner - I didn't want to shampoo my hair and condition and THEN have this on top. Too heavy and it would have been a waste of shampooing in my opinion.
I applied the mask and left it for a good 20 minutes, as my opinion of hair masks is - if they claim to do something, it's going to take longer than 1 minute to achieve that result. Rinsing and shampooing it out was easy peasy, and next time I'd use way less conditioner than I did on this occasion. The smell of the hair mask is enough to overpower my shampoo and conditioner combined! I also think shampooing it after the mask is better because my hair is definitely less heavy and incredibly soft. This is by far my preferred method of use for this hair product, and I'd happily repurchase (but of course in a different smell!)
Before even opening the packet I could already smell how good it was! I love that it not only smells good but it's 98% natural! This is such a versatile product that doesn't weigh your hair down. I also love how it can be used three different ways.
