Like the shampoo I really like the bottle design. It's easy to open cap but also feels secure and solid. This had a nice fragrance to it but not too over powering. I don't always use conditioner but I found this was light and didn't leave my hair feeling heavy or flat (unless you put too much in like I did the first time) . I only needed a small amount for my shoulder length hair but did find it needed a thorough rinse to ensure it was all out otherwise it leaves hair flat. Nice fragrance afterwards was nice. Once hair was dry it was soft to touch and easy to manage.

Beautiful packaging - looks modern and fresh. Recyclable and natural product. The conditioner smells lovely and fresh. I love the fact that the lightweight conditioner nourishes my hair without weighing it down. It does what it says - detangles and smooths hair without being heavy, so great in that department. I don't need to use a lot of product to get results. Well priced and good value. I would definitely recommend to friends and would consider using it again. Although mostly natural, the packaging doesn't state that the product is sulfate free, so I am not sure about that. The ingredients are stated clearly though and I couldn't see anything that looked like sulfates among the list of ingredients. I usually try to avoid sulfates because my hair is colour treated.
Tips: Use a little bit as a leave-in conditioner on dry ends
Disclaimer: I'm not a fan of watermelon, the fruit. It's too sweet, too watery. Luckily, the Garnier Fructis Hair Food Watermelon Conditioner is not like the fruit. The packaging is reminiscent of a cafe juice bottle, invoking healthy freshness. An opaque, white stubby, 350ml recyclable plastic bottle (50% recycled) with a green flip lid (not recyclable), and pink watermelon image. There is a lot going on on the label. Garnier statement of commitments, Vegan formula, no silicones, ingredients listing 97% natural origin formula, dermalogically tested. Stating a 'melting' texture that instantly penetrates for volume, detangling and fast rinsing, for healthy looking hair with volume. There are also warnings in regards to do not eat and to keep out of reach of young children. The Conditioner is a thick and white cream, but with a texture that feels water-rich. The watermelon scent is noticable without being overpowering, and cream absorbs easily into the hair. Side note: Since shaving my hair off in 2020 lockdown for fundraising, I took up a No-shampoo then a C0-wash regime for over 12 months to avoid silicone-laden hair products, which led to my once-volumous, curly hair being lank and oily-scalped, prone to humid fluff. This being the first conditioner I have used with a shampoo in over a year, I really noticed the difference in absorption of the conditioner on the hair shaft. As claimed, the conditioner easily rinsed having done it's job, leaving no residue. Post conditioner, hair feels healthy, not weighed down at all. Hair feels lighter and looks reminiscent of my childhood hair, my curls reignited without any tangling, and while I don't have the massive volume of pre-shave days, there is a lightness and bounce to my hair that I haven't seen in the post-shave year. I love there is no silicone, and despite the watermelon scent lingering post wash, I'm a convert.
Tips: Apply the warning to keep out of reach of children - keep this high, as it does look like a juice bottle and could be tempting to a child.
I have fine, medium length hair and was very excited to be chosen for this trial team ! As a runner, I end up needing to wash my hair quite often so find that it can tend ti look quite limp or get oily easily so I am always on the hunt for a magical elixir to add bounce and shine and hydrate without weighing it down.
Firstly - I love that the packaging is made from recycled materials - big tick. I HATE that the product is designed to look like a a juice or smoothie, definitely needs to be kept out of reach of little hands ! The smell is incredible - like a juicy, summery watermelon. It doesn’t smell fake and chemically and lingers gently in the hair after use. I used a small amount of the conditioner directly after washing with complimentary shampoo. The conditioner is thick and unctuous. I left it in for 2-3 mins and then rinsed out. My hair felt lovely and soft afterwards and I think that the weight is spot on - just light enough to hydrate fine hair without leaving it in a oil slick !
Tips: Make sure to keep out of reach of small hands - packaging designed to look like food !?!!??
Thanks BR for putting me on this trial by Garnier!
I have thin fine hair that is very limp and dull so I was really excited to trial this product (together with the shampoo and mask). This product claims: detangles, volume and fast rinse. It is also a new vegan formula that is 97% natural origin ingredients, the packaging is made up of 50% recycled plastic and is 100% recyclable. I love these movements made by Garnier.
First of all, my hair doesn’t particularly tangle, probably because it’s quite thin so this isn’t an issue that I could really judge on. However I can say this product does give volume and was fast rinsing. What was really noticeable was how light it felt in my hair, it didn’t feel like that “slimy” feeling a lot of conditioners have while washing. I only used a small amount and it was easy to rinse out. I did use this with the shampoo so I’m unsure what effect this product has without the shampoo. However I did love matching it with the shampoo so I wouldn’t use this separately.
My hair felt incredibly soft after using, my hair had incredible volume, it felt really clean and looked really shiny as well. I’ll definitely be using this again! Oh and my hair smelt incredible!
Tips: Pair with the shampoo!
Really impressed with this conditioner! Firstly, the packaging is simple but cute, it reminds me of those raw juices you can get from the supermarket, and it’s made out of recycled materials! I’m not a huge fan of watermelon but I like this scent, it’s not too overpowering but it’s nice and fresh. The idea of ‘discovering the menu’ is a cool idea too, as all the new range is fruit scented. Now to the actual product! I have really fine hair and this worked nicely for me! It helped my hair feel light and lifted, it didn’t weigh my hair down at all. I also have oily hair and this helped my hair not get as oily throughout the day! I didn’t have to use as much dry shampoo as usual. My hair is pretty limp and not the most shiny usually, but this conditioner has made my hair feel super smooth and much stronger, and added so much shine! Usually when I wash my hair some comes out, but I didn’t notice any strands coming out, and I think it’s due to this conditioner. I love how this conditioner is silicon-free, that’s something that I look for in my hair care. It’s vegan, cruelty-free and mostly plant-based, with no nasty chemicals. Its absolutely amazing to know that such a huge company like Garnier is going in this direction. If all big companies did this the world would be a better place!!
I have only used this product twice as I received the trial products on Monday afternoon . I really liked this conditioner , it was easy to apply and spread right to the ends of the hair . It was easy to wash out and left my hair smelling wonderfully fresh . It ensured my hair was tangle free and was easy to style . I look forward to its continual use to judge whether it really does add volume as suggested on the label
Tips: Only a small amount is required as it spreads easily to the tips of the hair.
Thanks BR for selecting me for this trial of shampoo, conditioner and hair food mask - (see seperate reviews for the others). Love this conditioner - the packaging is great very appealing to the eye and neat compact easy to handle bottle looks great in bathroom. The conditioner was white and quite thick and not runny like other conditioners I've tried and you only needed a small amount i was really surprised! Infact i dont tend to use conditioners as never found one that's suitable until now! Smells fabulous it was the best smelling of all 3 products. Easy to rinse out, hair felt really soft and was easy to comb through and didnt weigh my hair down, definitely had volume which i loved most of all. Using the shampoo and conditioner my hair looked less greasy than it normally does the following day. I will definitely buy this again to use on a regular basis although may look to buy it on special and stock up
Tips: Only need a small amount
It has a yummy watermelon scent, same as the coordinating shampoo and hair mask. It's not a particularly strong fragrance, which can be a positive or a negative depending on your preference.
I consider it a good conditioner overall. It performed exactly as you would expect a conditioner to perform. Similar to the shampoo, it squeezed out easily, lathered nicely and rinsed out quickly. The small bottle size was easy to work with. It would be great for typical use, though I don't think it's really a deep conditioner. It left my hair feeling nice, but not super silky like I often get with conditioners. It's best used in conjunction with the matching watermelon hair food.
With fine, flat hair, I am exactly who this product was designed for, but I didn't think it performed better in the volume department than other conditioners. The results weren't bad, to be clear, just not special.
I'm not sure that it's worth the cost, to be completely honest. Yes, it's a good conditioner, but I didn't feel like it performed better than more cost effective conditioners. If you can get it on sale, it could be good.
I received this as part of a trial team along with other products from the watermelon range. I have fine, low density hair.
The packaging is a nice slim bottle with a secure lid. The lid can be difficult to pop open but may loosen up over time.
The product is a light cream formula and is lightly fragranced. It does not contain sulfates or silicons so it conditions without drying or coating the hair.
I tried this in a few different ways, initially I paired it with the matching shampoo and intense conditioning treatment. This was a nice experience but a little too much moisture when used with the treatment. On its own with the shampoo was better, but I found it was better for my hair to condition before shampooing, then condition the ends of my hair again after shampooing. This provided protection in addition to conditioning. I also tried this with a different brand of shampoo and it paired fine with this so is definitely interchangable with other shampoos.
I liked this conditioner for detangling in particular. I would apply the product from roots to ends then carefully go through with a wide-tooth comb to remove any tangles. The conditioner provided enough slip for this to be effective while also not weighing down my hair.
I will continue using this, but may also explore the other conditioners in the same range.
Tips: Great for using as an in-shower hair detangler - apply from root to ends then go through gently with a wide-tooth comb!
