Live your Hubba Bubba fantasy

I am in love with this hair mask. It smells like watermelon Hubba Bubba in the best way, so delicious. I have quite fine, bleached hair and this left it feeling so soft and silky – could NOT stop touching it. I don't know if it really added all that much volume, but it certainly didn't weigh my hair down at all. I really love that this line is all cruelty-free as well, so great to see so many brands making this a priority. Will 100% re-purchase!

Tips: I don't know if I would bother using it as a conditioner (as the actual conditioner in the series is so good) but it is amazing as a mask and as a leave-in conditioner if your ends get a bit dry or ratty.

I love this multipurpose hair mask!

I have fine, thin, flat, smooth silky hair naturally.

Packaging- very colourful and appealing, but the lid isn’t that secure, it was so easy to open, I fear that if I drop this accidentally it will just open up and spill the product.

Fragrance - very refreshing , and not overpowering, even if after I washed this, the watermelon smell stays which I really love!

I have used this all 3 ways but mostly as a conditioner and a leave in conditioner. I wash my hair at night, and then in the morning I just used this as leave-in conditioner.

Texture- creamy similar to yoghurt consistency , a little goes a long way. Volume -I usually leave my hair to airdry. My hair definitely has more bounce and volume

After use, this made my hair feel and looked so smooth, detangled, so easy to comb. It also looked healthy/ nourished and just felt that my hair indeed had ‘hair food’.

I will continue to use this product and will re-purchase. So far the best conditioner I have used.

Tips: If you are really having a bad hair day, leave the mask longer about 6 to 10 minutes. It just made my hair so smooth, silky and my hair looked and felt healthy and plumped.

Garnier Hair Food

I trialed this product in exchange for a review, it was my first time ever using hair food. I think having a multipurpose product like this is really handy. I just know one day I'll realize I'm out of conditioner and will be grateful to use hair food until my next shop. Or I'll unexpectedly have to go out somewhere and if my hair isn't up to par, I can use hair food to quickly and easily get it looking decent.

It has a nice fruity scent that isn't overpowering, matching the coordinating shampoo and conditioner. It has a very creamy texture, reminded me of a thick day cream, but it's very easy to spread on hair. When using it as a leave in treatment I found that a little went a long way, and given the large size of the tub, I think this makes the product quite economical, even with my long hair. A downside of the large tub size is that it's awkward to use in the shower and it was too bulky to fit anywhere.

I preferred using it as a leave in treatment. When using it on dry hair I worried that it would leave my hair looking stringy or leave a residue, but it was quickly absorbed and I was pleased with the result. My dry split ends did seem noticeably shinierand smoother, though I can't say I noticed any extra volume. My fine hair is typically flat and volumising products don't ever really work for me, so I wasn't too surprised that despite it's claims, the hair food was no different.

Leaves hair soft and delicious smelling

Garnier Fructis Watermelon Hair Food comes in a tub with a fun bright watermelon design on the label. I tried using this product as a mask and a conditioner. I also trialled it as a leave-in conditioner. For my hair, there seemed to be no difference between using it as a mask and a conditioner. My hair was left feeling really soft and bouncy. When I used it as a leave-in treatment it wasn't effective in my hair. This Hair food is supposed to be volumising and as a leave-in treatment, it did not work. This product worked well as a Mask or Conditioner and left my hair smelling sweet like Watermelon. I found the design of the tub rather cumbersome. It is quite large and awkward to unscrew the top with wet hands. You need to be able to set it down out of the water to get the lid back on or it will end up full of water.

Tips: If you have a shelf in your shower to set the tub on, unscrew the lid before you start the shower (and place the lid back over the contents of course!)

A little goes a long way!

Let's start with the fact that the pot is HUGE, and a little goes a long way so it will definitely last a while.

It was clearly stated on the pot how to use the product - either as a conditioner, leave in conditioner or a hair mask, so naturally I had to try all three!!

The product smells so good, you almost want to eat it, and the scent lingers in your hair for the rest of the day. The pot states that the ingredients are 97% naturally derived which is great as you know you won't have any unwelcome chemicals damaging your hair.

The texture felt thick and luscious and left my hair feeling strong, silky and smooth. I have quite fine hair that tangles quite easily and after using this product as a mask, I found it easy to brush through and get rid of any tangles which is a godsend for me!

My hair felt softer but more voluminous after use and that, combined with the gorgeous smell means I would definitely recommend this product!

Watermelon Hair Food Mask

Let's start with the pro's of this product: - The fragrance: Oh. My. Gosh. Think summer fruit cocktails at a bbq with friends. This fragrance is DIVINE, and smells almost good enough to eat (please refrain from doing this, but it is THAT good!). It's 96% Vegan and no 'nasties' which is always a good thing, especially when it comes to my precious mane. I used this product in the three different ways as recommended on the pottle: as a normal conditioner, as a leave in conditioner and as a conditioning mask. As a normal conditioner my hair felt smooth after washing it out, as I would expect of a conditioner. As a conditioning mask my hair didn't feel any different to the results after using it as a normal conditioner. As a leave in conditioner my hair started feeling really oily and looked as though it hadn't been washed in days. I was really sparing with amount of product I used as my hair is very fine, but it felt like I had used a good couple of handfuls in my hair by the end of the day. The promise of more volume came through, although there was a catch, see the not so great stuff paragraph below. You have to always give a product props when it delivers on its marketing promises. Value for money: I loved how little I needed of this product to get good coverage over all my hair. A little really does go a long way and one of these pottles would actually last weeks. Now for the not so great stuff: although this product delivered on its 'more volume' promise, unfortunately it came at the expense of softness and shine. By the end of the trial period my hair was noticeably 'rougher' and a lot less shiny than normal. I was also struggling to get a wide tooth comb through my hair when it was wet after washing with this product. Initially my hair felt smooth after washing the hair food out, but it was a different story when it came to trying to detangle and style afterwards. Unfortunately the divine smell and other pros of this product don't outweigh the not so great stuff, which was so disappointing as I would have gladly switched my normal haircare regime for these products - which is the highest praise I can give any product.

Garnier Watermelon Hair Food

There are things I love about this product, and things I don't! I tried this product as a mask, a conditioner, and my daughter used it as a leave in treatment. The things I love about it are; the smell, how easy it is to spread through your hair, how easy it is to rinse, and that it is vegan and cruelty free.

The things I don't love about it are that it didn't give my hair more volume, and I had a lot of fly away hairs which were a bit static-y after drying my hair. This was after using it as both a mask and a conditioner.

It was really nice as a leave in treatment for my daughter, as it left her hair detangled and smelling really lovely. I made similar comments on my reviews of the shampoo and conditioner, but I feel like the watermelon products worked much better on my daughters healthy fine hair than they did on my coloured fine hair. So although I probably wouldn't repurchase for me, I would for her, and I would recommend the products for people with healthy fine hair.

smells amazing

I have used the mask once as a leave in mask in the shower - it was okay not extremely moisturising but my hair didnt feel dry like it has with other masks. I use this as a leave in conditioner and apply on damp hair, keeps my hair moisturised and soft. I have applied a little bit near the scalp and my hair hasnt got oily like it would so I think it actually does do what it claims!!

Tips: Use this combined with the shampoo and conditioner if you are after volume

Gorgeous Smelling Multi Tasker

Warning - this treatment smells so good, you will be tempted to eat it by the spoonful ! I am addicted to the summery, gorgeous smell and have gone so far as to skip using perfume as I find it lingers in the hair!

I love the fact that the packaging is made from recycled materials - well done Garnier! It is deep pottle with a wide mouth and screw top lid so you can scoop a handful as required.

The treatment is lovely and thick and is easy to apply to your hair. I have chosen to use it as a leave in hair conditioner as this suits my life style best but you can also use it as a deep conditioner and as a hair mask - I look forward to using it as a mask as a treat in the bath!

As a leave in treatment, I applied a small amount to the ends and mid length of my hair. It absorbed easily and didn’t look like I had an oil slick! It helped control my frizzies and my hair felt beautiful and soft after use.

3 Way Mask

Thanks BR for putting me on this trial by Garnier!

I have thin fine hair that is very limp and dull so I was really excited to trial this product (together with the shampoo and conditioner). This product claims: volume, bounce and movement to fine hair and hair feels soft. It is a new vegan formula that is 97% natural origin ingredients, and I couldn’t find any description on the packaging about recycling like the shampoo and conditioner.

Anyway, this mask can be used 3 ways. 1. Conditioner. 2. Mask. 3. Leave-In. Of course I tried all 3 out paired with only the shampoo and conditioner (and in the case of using as a conditioner I didn’t use the actual conditioner).

My favourite combination was shampoo, conditioner and using the mask as the mask.

When I used this as a conditioner, my hair didn’t look very silky or soft (it looked “not brushed” not long after brushing) – this may have come down to not using enough.

When I used as a mask, after conditioning, I kept it on my hair for a minute as suggested on the packaging. It was easy to rinse out. After drying and styling, my hair looked incredibly soft, clean, shiny and so much volume. I loved this combo.

When it comes to using the product as a “leave-in” – I applied it after towel drying my hair (you can put it on dry or wet hair) and let it dry naturally. It looked really nice, full of volume – however I do use straighteners and once I used those the hair where I applied the mask looked really limp and look like I needed to wash the mask out.

I’ll be using this product as a mask after shampooing and conditioning, so I love that you can get all 3 and use as a set!

Tips: Don't use straighteners after applying this as a leave-in.
