Love love this! My hair is so soft and bouncy. I wish it was a bottle or a pump bottle not a fan of tubs. Smells so good too. Doesn't make my hair greasy I could easily use this every second day too my hair still feels so good the next day.

Tips: A little bit of conditioner goes a long way.
I was very surprised by the size of the product....very generous! The mask had a different watermelon scent to the bar and I didn't like it. It wasn't as strong as the shampoo bar though. The consistency of the conditioner was lighter than I'm used too for a mask and felt more watery. I like a good portion of conditioner especially after I've shampooed my hair with the bar as it was drying. However, once I rinsed it off it didn't feel soft. I also tried it as a leave in conditioner and that made my hair look dull. I didn't use it as a mask but overall I wasn't very happy with the feel it left and acutally washed it off after the 3rd time I used it. I can now understand why the pot is so big because if you've got long hair, like mine, you need to use a good portion to cover the hair as it doesn't spread much given it's consistency.
I like that you can use this 3 ways, mask, conditioner and leave in treatment- bang for your buck! I have oily roots and dry ends so I only use this on the ends of my hair otherwise it would weigh my hair down. But I found this smoothed my hair really well and rinsed out quickly too. I’m not a fan of the tub though. It takes up limited shelf space and difficult to travel with. Otherwise I enjoyed using this.
I think overall I found this product very, very average. Maybe it just wasn’t suited to by hair type. The product itself felt smooth and creamy and nice to apply. I felt like it didn’t do anything for my hair, I’ve used it both as a conditioner and as a mask. Immediately after applying it smelt smooth but this didn’t last for long. I do like the fact that it is recyclable and that no silicone is used in the product as well as it using 97% natural origin ingredients.
Tips: Do not apply to roots, only from mid length of hair downwards.
I had really high hopes for this product and tried to use it in all three ways on different days/hair wash days as the packaging suggests. The smell is lovely, packaging is great and the consistency of the product is also really nice and creamy. I found that the product sort of weighed my hair down but at the same time made it frizzy? It was moisturised, especially when used as a mask but it just left my hair feeling a bit clogged down and not freshly washed. As a general conditioner I don’t think it did any less moisturising than it did when I left it on for an hour as a mask. So in terms of moisturising it definitely does work, however for my particular hair it just didn’t feel too good or look too good when it dried. I have thin hair strands but a lot of it and generally somewhat frizzy. For the price it’s amazing and you get so much product however given my experience with the product I’m not sure I would use it again, but I would recommend to a friend if they had less frizzy hair than I did as I think it did do what it says in terms of moisturising and it is definitely value for money compared to other products with the added benefit it’s cruelty free etc.
I've used the Papaya hair food one before first time trying watermelon hair food... again like the shampoo bar the smell is divine. Makes your hair very soft and manageable I don't leave conditioner in to long all over as I have a greasy scalp but did apply to the ends for longer, combing hair after is so easy I think after longer use my dryish ends will improve more will definitely continue to use love the products aren't full of chemicals cause I can be very sensitive to some of them
Tips: definitely try leaving it on the ends longer for those dry ends keep away from the scalp more if you have greasy scalp
I was excited to use Fructis' Watermelon Hair Food 3 in 1 Mask by Garnier. It’s 97% natural origin ingredients enriched with volumising watermelon give volume, bounce and movement to fine hair – and that’s exactly what I was looking for.
This is a thick creamy product that comes in a simple large tub. It’s very generous in size, so will last a long time, however the size of the tub makes it a little awkward to use in the shower. It doesn’t fit on my small shelf, so on the shower floor it sits! A little goes a long way, with a small amount of this product making a huge difference to my fine and sometimes frizzy hair. It smells amazing with a strong watermelon scent that I could still notice on my hair following wash out and drying.
The added bonus? This can be used in three ways! Yes, you read that right! I really appreciated the versatility of this product. Option one is as a conditioner: You just apply to wet hair to instantly give volume and detangle with no weigh down. Option two is as a mask: Apply on wet hair, leave for a minute and then rinse out thoroughly, to give your fine hair full volume. And lastly you can use as a leave in: You can use on wet or dry hair, and just apply a 10-cent amount on mid-lengths and ends leaving your hair full of volume and smoother for longer.
I really appreciated the versatility of this product. My hair had volume and was glossy following use. I found it was great as a leave in on my hair over the weekend, and better for conditioner during the week when I was short on time.
My hair is soft, bouncy and not weighed down – I would definitely recommend.
Tips: Pair with the Frutics’ Watermelon Shampoo Bar for an extra indulgent shower – and bouncy hair!
I have tried alot of hair products, in my life, and I mean ALOT, however this one did not rate for me, not at all, and let me tell you why. So for starters the first thing I noticed was the massive size of the tub, and its quite weighty, coming in at 390 grams, its a sizeable amount, but its in a tub. I feel that is a massive design flaw and could have taken up less shower caddy real estate if it was in a tube or squeezy bottle, also if you were to drop it, it would be game over, as well, its in a tub. Second is the smell, it reminds me of cucumber and sour cream, not watermelon at all, the consistency is that of a thick smooth yoghurt, it sticks to the hair well and rinses out well, but the fact I found the smell really bad did not make for an enjoyable experience for me. First time I used it I used it as a conditioner, and I felt it actually left my hair dryer than normal, the second time I used I used it as a mask and that was slightly better for me. I love the idea that this is vegan and not full of any nasties but I will be giving this a miss in the future, its just not for me
I was very interested to try the watermelon scented Garnier Fructis Hair Food as I like using hair masks. I have thick medium hair. The result isn't what I was expecting. It didn't nourish nor give any volume. After using it daily for one week in different ways, it left my hair dry and frizzy.
The 390ml tube is cumbersome. If used while in the shower, it's not practical to open the tube, use some of the product, while avoiding water going into the container. I didn't enjoy the watermelon smell. The scent wasn't "fresh", nor invigorating. The texture is similar to Greek yogurt.
I used the product as a conditioner, mask and leave-in. I used a different amount depending on the use. I used a third of the tube in one week.
As of June 2022 the price of the hair food ranges from $14 to $16. My preferred hair mask product costs $65 for half the volume of Garnier. However, I prefer to pay more in this occasion than using a product that is not nourishing my hair.
For my liking the packaging should be more practical. It is stamped with a PP6 logo. The formula is vegan and 98% biodegradable with no silicones, parabens or artificial colourants,
I won't share this experience nor recommend the product to friends.
I used the Garnier Fructis Hair Food Watermelon as both a mask and a conditioner. It worked best as a mask (leave in for 1 minute) in order for the moisture to fully be absorbed - but without leaving your hair with oily residue like some masks. Very easy to use as part of your hair routine - and it has a nice watermelon scent.
Tips: Use as a mask (leave in for one minute).
