I am in love with this hair mask. It smells like watermelon Hubba Bubba in the best way, so delicious. I have quite fine, bleached hair and this left it feeling so soft and silky – could NOT stop touching it. I don't know if it really added all that much volume, but it certainly didn't weigh my hair down at all. I really love that this line is all cruelty-free as well, so great to see so many brands making this a priority. Will 100% re-purchase!

Tips: I don't know if I would bother using it as a conditioner (as the actual conditioner in the series is so good) but it is amazing as a mask and as a leave-in conditioner if your ends get a bit dry or ratty.
This was my fav product from the range by far! I used it as a leave in conditioner and was amazed at how it left my hair feeling so silky for days! I find some leave in conditioners can leave my hair feeling greasy or heavy, but this worked a treat! It helped keep my hair pretty much tangle free which is a biggy for me as I have lots of very fine hair strands that tangle easily! I found the scent didn't last as long on the hair as others have from the range, but that wasn't a biggy. I don't think it really gave me much volume, but it certainly did leave my hair feeling nourished! I love that the packaging is all recyclable and that it's cruelty free.
I was surprised to receive a large pot of “hair food”. After shampooing and using conditioner I followed the directions and oh WOW this product is definitely up to expectations. My long fine hair is, full and soft and wavy and untangled. After it has air dried it is easy to put up and falls into easy tendrils. I love the gentle melon perfume, it is not sickly and with natural products I give this a big tick and will use it again. The three ways to use it, as per directions, work well. I will be buying this again.
Tips: Use a good dollop on wet hair and just a fingertip amount on the ends of dry hair.
I trialed this a couple of ways, firstly combined with the watermelon shampoo bar. I felt that this was the way that it worked the best. I usually always have to use leave in conditioner to comb my hair after I shower but after I washed with the shampoo bar and conditioned with the hair food my hair felt super nice and easy to comb! I definitely noticed extra volume after it was dry and my natural wave was nice (my hair is very fine so it does crazy things when I wash it sometimes).
I also tried it just as a conditioner without the shampoo and that was definitely good too (as I don’t shampoo every day). I would happily use this as my day to day conditioner. I usually leave it in for closer to the 3 minutes that is recommended when using it as a treatment. I thought that maybe because it can be used as a treatment, just using as a conditioner my be too heavy but it didn’t weight my hair down.
I also tried it as a leave in conditioner on my ends after using my normal conditioner and that felt good too! I did it on wet hair and it didn’t weight my hair down. It doesn’t say to try it on dry hair but I imagine it would be too heavy for that.
I’m not sure if using it as a treatment vs a conditioner made much difference. My hair felt pretty much the same both ways, so I would probably recommend it as a day to day conditioner (especially for damaged hair although that isn’t what it promotes) and a leave in conditioner but I prefer something more specialised for a hair treatment.
The packaging is good, the big container is easy to use and you can get all of the product out of it easily. And the containers are good to re-used to throw bathroom items in or I use them most often to mix up hair dye in.
The scent is nice, not too strong but definitely present. I didn’t notice it once dry but if you prefer unscented products this wouldn’t be ideal for you. I have tried a few of the different hair food types and I think this one is my favourite.
I absolutely love this stuff! it smells so good and it’s super hydrating. It leaves my hair feeling really soft and looks nice and shiny! I also use it as my conditioner on days that i don’t have time to let it soak in like a mask. I wouldn’t say it’s volumising as per say but it definitely doesn’t weigh the hair down as some hair masks tend to do.
Tips: You can also use this product as a leave in conditioner! i like to take a tiny amount on my hands and run in through the ends of my hair whilst it’s still slightly damp.
I really love this product as when I add it to my hair it makes it smell like watermelon candy but after a while it gives off a plastic like smell full of chemicals. I do like how it would make my hair feel very silky and it works way better than any other hair food I've tried. Definitely would recommend and is good for its price.
I recently tried the Garnier Fructis Hair Food and I am absolutely in love with it! I have been using it primarily as a conditioner and not only does it leave my hair feeling smooth and silky, but it also leaves a fresh watermelon scent that lingers in my hair all day long.
The only downside to this product that I found was the container. It can be a bit hard to use, especially when your hands are wet in the shower. I would love a pump option as I would find it much easier to use.
Overall, I would highly recommend the Garnier Fructis Hair Food to anyone looking for an amazing conditioner that leaves their hair feeling soft and smelling great. It has become a staple in my hair routine, and I can't imagine using any other conditioner.
Thanks BR for putting me on this trial by Garnier!
I have thin fine hair that is very limp and dull so I was really excited to trial this product (together with the shampoo and conditioner). This product claims: volume, bounce and movement to fine hair and hair feels soft. It is a new vegan formula that is 97% natural origin ingredients, and I couldn’t find any description on the packaging about recycling like the shampoo and conditioner.
Anyway, this mask can be used 3 ways. 1. Conditioner. 2. Mask. 3. Leave-In. Of course I tried all 3 out paired with only the shampoo and conditioner (and in the case of using as a conditioner I didn’t use the actual conditioner).
My favourite combination was shampoo, conditioner and using the mask as the mask.
When I used this as a conditioner, my hair didn’t look very silky or soft (it looked “not brushed” not long after brushing) – this may have come down to not using enough.
When I used as a mask, after conditioning, I kept it on my hair for a minute as suggested on the packaging. It was easy to rinse out. After drying and styling, my hair looked incredibly soft, clean, shiny and so much volume. I loved this combo.
When it comes to using the product as a “leave-in” – I applied it after towel drying my hair (you can put it on dry or wet hair) and let it dry naturally. It looked really nice, full of volume – however I do use straighteners and once I used those the hair where I applied the mask looked really limp and look like I needed to wash the mask out.
I’ll be using this product as a mask after shampooing and conditioning, so I love that you can get all 3 and use as a set!
Tips: Don't use straighteners after applying this as a leave-in.
What a lovely product. I'll start with the beautiful, modern packaging - it looks summery and fresh. The product smells beautiful and natural. I love the fact that this range is aimed at fine hair - my hair is fine and tangles easily. This product leaves it silky, shiny and manageable. Hopefully it will also help reduce breakage. The consistency is thick, so I don't need a lot to get the job done. Once again - although the product is mostly natural, the packaging doesn't state that the product is sulfate free. The ingredients are stated clearly and I couldn't see anything that looked like sulfates among the list of ingredients, but would have liked more clarity on that. I used it as a mask and also as a conditioner. Lovely stuff.
Tips: Use as a conditioner, mask or leave-in
I was lucky enough to trail this Garnier hair mask. The product has a strong fruity smell which was pleasant. I applied to wet hair and left in for 5 minutes and then rinsed out. My hair felt nourished and clean after using this. It didn’t leave my hair feeling heavy either. My hair had a mild watermelon scent afterwards which was nice. I would recommend this product.
