I purchased this (bright red) to over dye a previous (patchy) colour attempt. I found the mixing process awkward with the extra bottle and the weird bottle holder hole in the box. I ended up just getting someone else to hold it while I squeezed making it a two person job. The application itself was fine, a bit messy but I managed to cover my whole head with reasonable ease. I didn't use the provided gloves as I have tiny hands so always use my own. The end results were even coverage (which was my goal). The colour was not as vibrant as on the box but I expected that. The after care conditioner was okay, my wet hair became a bit tangled feeling. There was also no red stains on my pillow case which was a bonus. All things considered, I think it did an average job. My hair looks great now (next day) and feels really soft. I am expecting fast fade and will probably go back to a regular non oil dye next time around though.

Overall I've found this product pretty good, considering I generally go to the hairdressers to have my red done as I've always been worried about colour on my carpet!
The box that you're supposed to put the bottle in while mixing is poo, just throw it away, it should work (as other brands I've used in the past did) but it just doesn't. The packaging is great, looks super funky and the even the directions look fun. A nice change from some of the other brands I've used in the past.
Mixing is a breeze, it's not hard, pour one into the other and shake.
Application is very easy, the consistency is perfect for easy coverage and the gloves are not too shabby - I was a little surprised at that as I have gorilla hands and they still managed to fit me, although it was touch and go! My eyes did not sting or water once during the application which I was more than pleased about, must be the oils they use.
Rinsing out was easy, although being red it took ages and ages and ages....
After care conditioner, Yip, pretty good. Didn't like the smell too much but you get a very generous amount and it makes your hair feel nice and soft.
3 weeks down the track, well the colour fade has been considerable, just check out my pillowcase and towels lol, but I'll forgive that as red is such a high maintenance colour.
I probably wouldn't get this particular red again as it just wasn't bright enough for me, but when I finally go back to brown I would try this hair dye again as it covered all my greys and was gentle on my hair.
I did think it was a little on the pricey side as far as home hair dye goes and as far as the amount you receive goes. I have rather short hair - think pixie cut length and I wasn't able to use all the product but I think if my hair was below my ears I would have been in trouble.
I used the red twice and as much as my hair felt great after the dying process i wasnt impressed with the colour the box portrayed it to be bright and it wasnt at all so if you are looking for a stand out colour i dont suggest this range
Tips: I always wrap my hair while the dye is in to avoid getting it on anything
I do like this product and I like the oil side of it. My first experience was with the 'Red' shade and 'omg' I looked like a traffic light! I've never had such a vibrant effect with a red tone before. My hair is naturally quite a dark brown and in all honesty I just wasn't prepared for it and thankfully had this brown spray I was able to apply over the top to tone it down a bit, until I was able to cover it with another dye! Since then though - I've grown more confident and comfortable with the red look and I think I get away with it! The downside I have experienced with this product though is that for at least three to four weeks after, after every wash the colour still seems to be washing out, leaving stains on towels - this doesn't seem overly colourfast to me and does put me off a wee bit, even though the colour still looks good in my hair - weird.
Tips: Don't use light towels after washing your hair for a few weeks!!
I have quite damaged hair from years of mistreating it, and because of bleaching and not being able to get my natural colour back I find myself dying over it way too often. When I was given the opportunity to review this product, of course I took the offer up and chose red because I know that is a colour that suits me. I was quite hesitant on putting something that used oils into my hair instead of ammonia. I knew that it would be better for my hair, but it also seemed like it would make my hair look greasy. I was very happily surprised when my hair didn't look greasy, it just looked incredibly shiny and felt very soft. The dye made my hair very easy to manage and smelled amazing and fruity. The container you use the dye in itself is a great shape to use yourself while wearing gloves, it helps with stopping the bottle from slipping out of your hand. The box also has a handy pop out part in the back so you can sit the container in it while mixing the colour to stop it from tipping. I would definitely go with this range again for permanent home colouring.
Tips: Use Vaseline around your hairline to prevent staining to the skin, or use a baby wipe/make-up wipe to remove any that has gone on your face, ears, and neck straight after putting the dye in.
i love this hairdye, only get it when i see it on sale though :) , i found that it goes along way too,i like the packaging also. i love the fact that theres no ammonia and doesnt smell strong, actually i thought it smelt rather lovely.it covers my hair nicely and evenly without leaving my hair damaged and dry. only downfall for me is that it washes out quickly, wether thats just me i dont know. but even still, i will still purchase this product.
I bought the bright red in this hair dye as it showed on the box that it would turn out really bright. It wasn't really though so I was a bit disappointed. i mean, the colour looked good after, I was just really hoping for that super bright look. Probably bleaching prior would help but I didn't really want to have to do that.
This dye is a pleasure to use though, with no ammonia in it, it smells good and doesn't make your eyes water. I also felt like my hair would be stronger and healthier from using a product like this.
I probably would use this again, it might not be my first choice but if it was cheap when I needed it, then I would pick it up. I need to buy two boxes so it can work out expensive if I need to purchase two $20 boxes! I definitely prefer $10 boxes haha.
I used the bright red hue in this to redo my roots and was extremely disappointed. Firstly, it smelled terrible compared to other permanent dyes. Also, the gloves were too tight, my hands are not what would be considered large. The aftercare conditioner that came with it was not very good and didn't leave my hair feeling nice at all. But most importantly, the color faded extremely fast compared to other red dyes I've used. Although I love the wide-necked bottle and the red hue was awesome for a day, this product is just not good value for money and did not give me the results I was after.
Wow I got sent one as a sample before they were released here in the fiery red and oh my was it intense, the box was handy too with cut outs to hold the bottle whilst apply which meant less mess on the counter top. The formula actually smelt nice too, not too overpowering. Coverage was very even and easy to apply, not much washout after processing and the result was a high shine fiery red that really stood out, much approved and will use again.
I was lucky enough to be selected to trial this - thanks BR! I chose the colour violet - which is a deep reddish purple shade.
Like other at home dyes I have used, this comes with products that you disperse into a container (this is provided), and then shake to blend before putting on your hair.
I used this for only the top half of my hair, as I have pink on the under side of my hair. This was just enough to completely dye the top half of my hair, but I would definitely need another box to dye my whole head of hair. It must be mentioned though, that my hair is quite long and thick so if you have shorter or thinner hair then one box might be enough for you.
The application was really straightforward and not really different to any other at home dyes, although the little that comes with this is really ergonomic and simple to use. I also love that the box has a perforated hole where you can place the bottle so this cuts down on accidental staining.
The instructions were really simple to understand and they tell you how to dye either your whole head or how to touch up your roots, which is thought was helpful.
The main thing that makes this superior to other at home dyes though, is the scent of the dye. Too often hair dye reeks of ammonia which is not pleasant whatsoever. That isn't the case with this - this dye has a really nice kind of mucky floral scent which I really enjoyed.
Like other dyes, this comes with a conditioner that you use in your hair once you have rinsed the product out. Unlike other dyes though, the conditioner is a large tube and you can use it for more than one washing of your hair which I thought was great.
Because I still have black in the mid to ends of my hair, the purple is a lot deeper there than it is on my virgin hair. In saying that though, I was impressed that this even showed up over the black. I really like the colour (it ranges from a mid purple to very deep purple which looks black under low light). I have washed my hair a few times since using this and even though product is bleeding when washing my hair, it doesn't look to have faded much (if at all), in my hair.
Overall I think this is an excellent dye and I would purchase it again except it would be slightly more expensive for me as I need at least 2 boxes of this to dye my whole head. I think the price is just a little expensive but I would choose this dye over any other dye that is available at the same price point.
Tips: ALWAYS patch test the day before dyeing your hair, even if it is a brand or dye you have used previously and had no problems with!
