When I find a good hair colour I tend to stick to it and Garnier Olia is my go to brand. I like that it is ammonia free and uses flower oils. I tend to colour my hair using their deep black or soft black and I like that there is the choice. I always have plenty of product to colour my hair and find the conditioning treatment really good and it lasts for a few washes, plus smells really good! The colour is really good and matches what it says on the box and it lasts for quite a while. I don't know whether I noticed my hair was any softer or shinier than normal though.

The colour promised on the box was a beautiful vibrant red that I fell in love with. What actually developed was a very subtle colour that promptly faded out with 3 weeks. I was super keen to try it when I saw it at the supermarket, and it seemed like a good buy but the marketing was the best part sadly. The condition of my hair after use was dry and mildly damaged but the conditioner that comes with it seemed to help a little bit.
Tips: Make sure to use the conditioner the next time you wash your hair, it can be quite drying. Staining around the hairline can be removed with baby wipes.
My hair is naturally brown but for the past year and a half I had blonde, then ombre hair (mainly because going to the hairdressers for a top-up every 4 weeks was too expensive). I tried the Olia in dark blonde and it changed the colour of my hair slightly, but not really noticeable. After a couple of washes it was all gone though as if it washed out. This is quite an expensive product compared to the others and I was quite disappointed to see it didn't last. The application was great though, it didn't burn or irritate me (not that it should) and there were no sharp smells.
Overall I've found this product pretty good, considering I generally go to the hairdressers to have my red done as I've always been worried about colour on my carpet!
The box that you're supposed to put the bottle in while mixing is poo, just throw it away, it should work (as other brands I've used in the past did) but it just doesn't. The packaging is great, looks super funky and the even the directions look fun. A nice change from some of the other brands I've used in the past.
Mixing is a breeze, it's not hard, pour one into the other and shake.
Application is very easy, the consistency is perfect for easy coverage and the gloves are not too shabby - I was a little surprised at that as I have gorilla hands and they still managed to fit me, although it was touch and go! My eyes did not sting or water once during the application which I was more than pleased about, must be the oils they use.
Rinsing out was easy, although being red it took ages and ages and ages....
After care conditioner, Yip, pretty good. Didn't like the smell too much but you get a very generous amount and it makes your hair feel nice and soft.
3 weeks down the track, well the colour fade has been considerable, just check out my pillowcase and towels lol, but I'll forgive that as red is such a high maintenance colour.
I probably wouldn't get this particular red again as it just wasn't bright enough for me, but when I finally go back to brown I would try this hair dye again as it covered all my greys and was gentle on my hair.
I did think it was a little on the pricey side as far as home hair dye goes and as far as the amount you receive goes. I have rather short hair - think pixie cut length and I wasn't able to use all the product but I think if my hair was below my ears I would have been in trouble.
As dying your hair at the Salon can be a tad expensive... I decided to try this particular product. I love it, absolutely love it. And I'll go back every time. I even had compliments by my hairdresser asking who had coloured my hair. My hair feels healthier and looks great after each colour and it lasts ages!
Tips: You don't have to stick to the 6 week rule - if the colour is close to your natural hair colour the regrowth is unnoticeable.
I love the thought of a hair dye free of ammonia. That was my motive for buying this hair dye.
The application process was really easy and the dye itself smelt wonderful (not your average potent smelling dye). It come with all the instructions you need and a good set of gloves. When it came time to rinse it all out, well I rinsed it, and continued for a while longer and the dye did not stop running out. I was a tad bit worried. Every time I washed my hair or wet for the next 2 weeks I didn’t see clear water, but red still. One good quality of this dye is that you get double the amount of a regular hair dye. The dye has good coverage and I did notice how soft and shiny my hair became after using it which I’m very happy about.experience
Tips: After use I recommend using shampoo and conditioner specifically designed to lock the color in and protect it.
Ok, so I am naturally blonde but have had blue-black hair for around 9 years now and I colour my hair (touch up my roots) every three or so weeks. I like to try out new box colours from time to time and decided to try this because of the "no ammonia" statement.
Safe to say it didnt take to my hair at all! my roots were still exactly as light as they were before i had put the colour through. Quite disappointed, as i love Garnier colours from using other products.
I went through a phase where I desperately wanted to dye my hair purple. I bleached my hair, and looked online for a purple hair dye from a brand that I new and trusted, because other brands had turned my bleached hair green. I was very happy with the process of using it, super easy and manageable. BUT, and it is a bit but, the colour lasted on my hair for one week before turning copper (you can see in my profile picture) . Luckily it was only the ends of my hair, so I left it. But not impressed at all! What happened to all the purple dye?? DO NOT BUY!
I got this thinking it would be much better without the ammonia etc. I got the 4.0 Dark Brown to cover my first few greys. Well... it wasn't pretty! The formula was hard to smooth through my hair towards the end of application. I put the dye through my ends for the last 10 minutes like the instructions said. My hair went into dread lock clumps and the dye was really hard to wash out. The end result was red roots, no grey coverage and black ends. My hair was like straw for two weeks and no amount of moroccan oil made a difference. VERY BAD. I had to go to the hairdresser to fix my hair.
Tips: maybe it works best on uncoloured hair with no grey
This product did smell amazing wasn't strong at all which i loved, there is nothing worse than colouring your hair and the smell of the prtoduct is over powering . But i found it didnt last as long as my normal hair colour that I buy. It faided pretty quickly. And the conditioner it comes with made my hair extremely oily. I did like the applicator tho it made applying the colour nice an easy. But over all i don't think I would ever use it again
