I colour my hair semi-regularly, and I saw the Garnier Olia dye advertised EVERYWHERE, so I decided to give it a go! The packaging was quite lovely, and I was stoked with the amount of conditioner it came with: much more than most other home colour products, and I found the bottle easy to use. The dye had a surprisingly pleasant smell, and application was easy enough. However for a product that boasts how good it is for your hair, I found the quality of the product lacking. I used a red/brown colour, and found it faded incredibly fast compared to some of the other hair colours I had previously used. I also did not find my hair was any healthier afterwards than any other brands I have used. Overall I wouldn't say the product is anything special.

I am always on the look out for a new hair dye that really does a good permanent job , when looking in the super market this really jumped out at me , it could have been the packet and the fact i have a love for sunflowers i decided to give it a go. I think almost every aspect of the result was a bit of a let down, it smelled quite nice but the gloss or shine was pretty standard , my hair just felt like id washed it and i didnt really notice too much of a difference to my hair color . i was a red at the time but wanted to go dark brown but the red tones were still dominant and and any slight change id noticed faded within a week.
I used to dye my hair alot and was always using different brands and products. When Garnier Olia came out and after seeing it on the ads o tv i decided id try it. It was amazing!! Gave me the bright colour i wanted which was red and my hair was brown at the time and it did an amazing job. You couldnt tell i was brown before hand and the red was so bright. After dying my hair it didnt make my hair feel all stringy like the other products did and also made my hair smell really nice instead of having the chemical smell from ages. I would definatly use this product again!!
I've tried nearly every hair dying product on the market, and this is by far one of my favourites!
First of all, the colour ranges are really lovely, and I always have a hard time trying to decide which one to pick! They're natural looking, and the end result is always well worth it. The colours always show up well, and end up looking mostly like what is described.
Its an easy product to apply, and I find that it leaves my hair feeling so smooth after washing and drying it, some hair dyes make my hair really dry but this one didn't!
I also find it the most appealing packaging wise, and I think its why I ended up picking this one the first time I tried it! Its a reasonable price when not on sale, so I will mostly always get this one!
Tips: Don't pick a colour which won't show up on your hair, pick something that you know will look nice and you'll be impressed!
I recently started colouring my hair at home to save time. I really loved the advert and was impressed of the results I would get without ammonia. First time using I found application very easy, smell inoffensive, and very impressed that I got more than one use out of my conditioner. But after using this for a 6 month period, I colour my hair every 4-6 weeks. I found my results were patchy, it didn't cover well and was always left with an obvious halo with my re growth. It may be different if you have dark hair. But doesn't work well for blondes.
I used the red dye in the range and used it to touch up the fading and regrowth on my hair, which was already coloured red. The dye made my hair appear to be a more washed out red, and I just really didn't like the colour. It doesn't fade easily though, three months later and my hair is still quite red, so it is relatively long-lasting. It doesn't wash out as much as other reds do, I didn't find any red dye washing down the shower drain as much as I normally do.
Tips: Don't use the conditioner that comes with it all at once, as you will need it to stop the colour from washing down the drain every time you shower.
After reading about this dye on one of the polls and not getting into a trial, I knew I had to give it a go anyway! I bought it from Countdown on special - Only $13.50!! So no more expensive than any other box dyes!
My first thoughts were excitement at the natural smell! Some of those ammonia-riden dyes make me (as an asthmatic) feel reeeeally wheezy. :( But the smell was great.
It's mixed and used exactly like every other home dye so it wasn't difficult - the smell really did make the process easier though. The only thing I would say is that the shape of the bottle wasn't right for me - with those classic flimsy gloves and needing 7 more hands than you have, the round bottle proved a little hard to hold.
I was really pleased with the conditioner being in such a big tube so I can continue to use it for the next few weeks so keep the bold colour!
I was excited to see what the colour would turn out like so I blow dried my hair and was so happy with the result! My hair was all the same colour - making it look so healthy - and the colour was very rich and luxurious! Not bad for $13.50!! Haha. It also feels really healthy - though you can never really tell if that's just from giving it a good wash with the conditioner but my first impression is a resounding tick! If circumstances change, I'll be sure to come back and edit this to tell you how long it all lasts but I'm currently VERY happy and sooo glad that it's not going to destroy my hair like every other product. My ends already look so much better!
Tips: Use your own gloves - as per usual with these home box dyes. It makes it so much easier! And if you're panicking, they have some really great video tutorials to help you get it done really efficiently. :)
I read all of the instructions and this time even did the skin patch test. Thank goodness I did as within a minute I felt tingling by my ear and after a few hours I had an angry red patch of skin. Needless to say I didn't use the product as I did not want to have a greater reaction to it. Although this product says no ammonia obviously some other ingredient disagrees with me. I was really disappointed as I thought this product may be the answer to I between salon visits.
Tips: Absolutely do the skin test - each and every time.
I have had dark brown hair for as long as I can remember and decided it was time for a change. Unfortunately as a poor uni student a trip to the salon wasn't in my budget. I decided to use this dye as it was cheap and I loved the idea of no ammonia. I did have to strip my hair first, but the results were amazing after. The red was the same colour as the box, and it is a long lasting dye. My roots became visible after a few weeks but the rest of my hair stayed bright without fading for a long time.
I frequently home dye my hair, and decided to try a different product this time round. I loved the packaging - very slick - and the actual application bottle was a great shape to work with. The time to develop was standard and the smell was inoffensive. Also liked that Garnier included a larger tube of conditioner in the packet, so you can use it for future washes. However, I wasn't impressed with how it turned out. Colour pay off was relatively good, but it left my hair much drier than it was previously and I didn't feel like my hair had much richness/shine to it after the fact. I have had better coloration, glossiness and moisturisation from semi-permanent dyes and will return to using those.
Tips: If you wear a side part, make sure that you colour the top part of the hair on the side as intently as you do the roots.
