Very cool little styler, I say space age because on the blue light and the little tune it plays when you switch it off and on, does what a ghd should. I'm just not convinced on the shape of them they seem a little bit chunky to me? Being a hairdresser have used all the ghd stylers and just a little fussy with how it feels in your hand,

Tips: Sectioning clips are your best friend start from the bottom and work your way up get a smoother and longer lasting hair do.
This product does it's intended use but it takes a bit longer then other straightened that I have used before but I still recommend this
After heating up super quickly, this straightener glides through my very thick hair and with two strokes of sectioned hair leaves it soft, silky, and most of all straight! I get no frizz, and my hair is done twice as fast as my old straightener.
I recently used one of these at a friends house and I definitely prefer the GHDIV or gold edition! These ones just felt really cheap, as if they were just a really average brand made out of bad materials and light plastic. Yes the effect of these is good but the quality is not! when using it I found that where the hinge was, the plates moved from side to side, even though they are only supposed to go up and down as you open and close the straighteners.
Tips: Buy original GHDs or gold edition.
I had the original GHDs and they lasted me a long time, eight years so when they died I gave the eclipse a go. I found them ungainly and didn't like the larger shaped body. The plates glided smoothly so they did a reasonable job with straight hair, bug I like my straighteners to be a bit more multi functional and curling with them wasn't as good as the old ones. They look great but they weren't as functional sadly. I'm an ex hairdresser so I was lucky enough to get to try these before purchasing, my loyalty to the brand has now changed sadly.
I have had to completely change this review after all the problems I have had with this product!
I got the GHD Eclipse as a present for Christmas 2013, and when I got it, I was like, wow, this is so awesome as it did a great job. About 5 months later is when I start having the problems.
I turned it on one day and it went into Shiver mode (this is when the product turns itself off due to the GHD being in the wrong temperature environment). I was pretty guttered when this happened, especially since my styler was always kept in a warm room, but wasn't too worried as I knew it was under warranty and I could get it replaced - which I did. About 3 months later the same thing happened again and once again I got it replaced.
Wouldn't you know it. About 2 weeks ago, it did the same thing.
It is still under warranty, so rather than getting another one for it do to the exact same thing, I have opted for a refund.
I am now going to buy the Cloud9 styler.
In general I would say GHD's are good, but with this one, I would not recommend it, mainly for the problems I have had with it!
I bought one of these a few months ago and it has worked so much faster than my old one, but I do feel they are very expensive so I would only recommend it to someone who would be constantly styling their hair
