I used this product for a long time, and only moved on because I like to change shampoo now and then and use something new. Would happily recommend it, I am prone to oily hair and found this product really helped with it, and smelt good too :)

For normal to oily hair, this product promised a ‘lightweight cleansing formula’. While the ends of my hair can get quite dry, my scalp can get oily, so this shampoo for normal to oily hair worked well. It was lightweight and clarifying as it claimed, and helped to combat oil without making the rest of my hair dryer.
Like the other products in the Herbal Essences range, my favourite thing about this shampoo was the scent. The green tea and citrus blossom scent is refreshing without being sickly or overwhelming. While it wasn’t a miracle product, it did help my hair feel less oily in between washes, and it’s always nice to have a grocery store bought product feel like an indulgence every time you use it.
Tips: If you are prone to oily hair, use this shampoo (or any shampoo) every second day at most.
I bought this shampoo as I get oily hair sometimes (I play a lot of sport) and wanted something to cleanse my hair. This shampoo was really easy to lather up and spread evenly all over my scalp. I found this shampoo cleaned my hair really well and left no oily residues. It wasn't too drying either and didn't strip the natural oils for my hair, which was good because I was worried that it might make my scalp dry at the same time given that I also get dandruff.
I loooove the smell of this shampoo. To me it didn't really smell like green tea and citrus but more like green apples. It has a strong fruity scent. The shampoo has a gel and jelly like texture. Overall it left my hair feeling soft and refreshed, and I would use it again especially given its price. I like how its also readily available at the supermarket.
I use this once a week to remove any buildup I get from the other days I use my fortifying shampoo. It lathers very easily and spreads lightly over the hair so it is easy to work, and it leaves a very refreshing (but not stripped) feeling after the wash. When my hair is dry I can definitely feel the difference in that my hair has more bounce and volume since the buildup has been removed, and I can be confident that my oily scalp would have been nicely cleansed as well.
Tips: Only use once a week or so as overdoing it can strip your hair and dry it out :(
This is a shampoo that I have found works best on my oily hair. The fragrance is lovely, but what keeps me going back is the fact that it always cleans my hair perfectly. I have oily hair, and have tried lots of different shampoos that are meant to clean/manage oil, but this is the only one that I trust every day to keep my hair clean.
Tips: If you're only sometimes prone to oily hair, then I wouldn't use it all the time.
I'm in love with this shampoo! I wrote a post on the BR forums asking for remedies for product build up. My hair was feeling dull and oily and taking ages to blow-dry, stright after it was washed and no amount of shampoo could save me. I was recommended this product as a clarifying shampoo, and I was sold after just one wash! My hair felt so so clean, was shiny, quick to dry and feeling lighter already. Product build up was gone! It has a lovely fragrance and I was stoked to find a remedy at supermarket prices. I now use it once a week and I am in love.
Tips: Don't over-do it, keep it for an every-now-and-again cleanse.
I had been meaning to pick up a shampoo that would clarify my hair, and take all the product build up out. I had read in the forum that this was a favorite, and on the cheaper side, so for $7 (which is not cheap for me, it wasn't even on special!) I picked it up at New World and put it in the cart.
It smelled good, and the color of the shampoo itself was green which I liked. Actually, it smelled more than good, I really liked it. The formula was thick for a shampoo, like a light green, rich gel but it was okay. It went into my hair nicely, lathered easily... but that's where it stopped.
The shampoo did absolutely nothing for my hair. Whether its because I had no build up, I'm not sure, but my hair felt stringy, dry and terrible. I had also run out of my 'spensy good shampoo, and I was waiting very impatiently now for it to arrive from iHerb. Even dry, my hair was at its worst, and I realized the extra frizz was because of this shampoo.
I hate the lids on these bottles, I always manage to smash them off, and I'm not entirely sure how I do it. Would I repurchase? Nope.
I have very oily skin and hair, I always have, ever since puberty and it doesn't seem to be letting up with age. As I've been battling to find a decent shampoo, someone recommended this clafiying shampoo, so I thought I'd give it a go.
The shampoo comes in a simple, translucent, 300ml bottle with a push down lid (you push down one side to get the little opening to pop up). The shampoo has a bright green, fairly thick gel-like consistency with a fresh, fruity smell and a good lather.
Once rinsed out, it left my hair feeling clean and soft, smelling good and looking great ... until the next morning when it started looking greasy again. To be honest, this shampoo didn't do much for my hair. It did work well on days when I had to use dry shampoo and washed the dry shampoo residue out really easily, but it did seem to strip my hair and scalp and left it "squeaky" clean, causing it to produce even more oil.
I have to wash my hair every second night, as my hair looks 'wet' by then with all the natural oil production, but after using the shampoo every second night for a month, I got to a point where my hair was looking really greasy and dirty after 12 hours!
This is a great product to use occasionally or every fortnight to remove product build-up. Even though it states that it's gentle enough for daily use, I found it to be too harsh to use as a frequent use shampoo, even on really oily hair.
Will I purchase it again? Probably not, unless I need a shampoo to specifically remove product build-up. Would I recommend it? Only if someone is looking for a shampoo to occasionally clarify their hair with.
Tips: Only use as a clarifying shampoo to remove product build-up every now and then. Don't use frequently as it will cause excess sebum excretion.
What sparked my interest in this product was seeing it mentioned in the forum quite some time ago for its clarifying properties. I believe shampoo is believe to remove impurities from your hair. So with this conversation in mind I had to give this a try for myself. My hair type is thick coloured and lack lustre. I often get build up from using hair oils and hair sprays so I definately needed to give this one a try. Also I needed something that would be handy to use for my partner and children who have normal hair.
This bottle is tall and slender with s bright coloured green . Its very eye catching. One bottle stands up right while the other sits on itself. I like to buy both shampoo and conditioner to ensure this hair. cleaning process is fufilled. This formula is a bright coloured green that is as clear as green waters. This scent reminds me of a fresh tea tree bush with a grassy herbal fragrance. It smells so fresh and crisp I really enjoyed this fragrance.
With application it applies to my hair well . It lathers up easily and I find for my long hair I didnt need much. Normally I need at least two pumps of it. After washing my hair out my scalp felt clean. I couldnt feel any build up of oil or hair spray even after it was dry. I notice my hair is shinnier than usual and surprisingly no dandruff since using it. Yay. Normally when I change I get dandruff come on but not this time. I got my bottle on special at pak an save for about $3 each . I definately would purchase more bottles of shampoo from their range but at the moment Im enjoying this one.
I was happily recommended this shampoo after running out of my Neutrogena - Anti-Residue Shampoo from the States, a highly regarded clarifying shampoo not yet available here. In comparison, this Herbal Essences product does the exact same job, yet it comes in a more decent sized bottle, and it smells great, fresh and fruity! It takes all the built up product in your hair, leave in products, hair sprays, and cleanses them out, leaving your hair truly clean to absorb any following treatments and conditioners.
Having long, coloured, thick and frizz-prone hair, I was hesitant about using this product, worried that it would strip too much oil, but instead I was pleasantly surprised at how much more tame and manageable it looked afterwards. I highly recommend adding a clarifying shampoo to your hair regime, especially this one by Herbal Essences, it's the only one I'll repurchase now!
Tips: Don't overuse this product or it will strip too much of the natural oil from your hair, drying it out. I don't use it any more than once a week-fortnight.
