This was scary, it was crackly, steaming, and generally terrifying. I'm never ever going to recommend!

InStyler Rotating Hot Iron Hair Styler
It's not a brush. It's not a flat iron. It's not a curling iron. It's the InStyler® rotating hot iron!
The InStyler rotating hot iron is a totally new styling and straightening tool unlike any hair styling product ever invented!
The secret to the InStyler iron lies in its rotating heated polishing cylinder, along with four rows of precision-aligned bristles.
Here's how it works when you run the InStyler rotating hot iron through your hair, the first set of bristles gently sort and separate your hair strands. Then the rotating heated polishing cylinder gently glides over your hair, smoothly polishing, straightening, and styling each strand. Finally, the second set of bristles puts the finishing touch on your hair, leaving you with shiny, silky, hair! It's truly amazing!
And the best part is, because of the InStyler rotating hot iron's patented design, your hair won't get smashed and baked by the super-intense heat of a flat iron or other "hot" tools. In fact, the InStyler rotating hot iron uses less heat than traditional hot tools, and delivers better results. How? Because the InStyler rotating hot iron's gentle heat in conjunction with the rotating motion of the polishing cylinder literally polishes your hair strands individually so it doesn't need extreme heat to get amazing results.
Your hair will be shinier, bouncier and full of lift and life!
Plus, the InStyler rotating hot iron does so much more than any styling tool out there. Get lift and fullness – right from the root! Get a sexy flip in seconds. Straighten even the toughest, most coarse hair – and still get fullness and style without the stick-straight "flatness" of a flat iron. Do a full style in 8 minutes – and change it again in two minutes! Wrap your hair around the rotating polishing cylinder – and get an amazing curl that lasts all day!
If you can hold it, you can do it with the InStyler rotating hot iron!

I have really thick, unruly curly hair so I was pleasantly surprised at how well this straightened my hair. It never managed to make it dead straight or smooth - but the brush that is attached makes straightening a whole lot easier and quicker. Unfortunately after a few months of use the plate of the straightener starting chipping and it would make a loud buzzing sound when turn on, after replacing it for another Instyler the same problem occurred again. I would recommend this product for younger people who want to try out straightening their hair - for $129 it is a reasonable price to pay as there was quite a few specials for buy one get one free when they were first released. I have also heard that they have gone in to clearance for $70 at Farmers stores now.
Tips: If you want dead straight hair this is not for you - I have gone back to my GHD.
After seeing the big hype on tv infomercials I was hooked lined and sinkered to what was promised by instyler! It was a buy one get one free deal which I thought wow what a great deal for the price! Now at the time my hair was ringlet upon ringlet of very thick hair which reached my backside so I couldn't wait to get my hands on this beauty! Upon trying it I was highly disappointed immediately because my hair wouldn't straighten no matter how many times I tried. I made sure I watched the instructional DVD it came with but with still no results like it promised. I decided to soldier on with in to see if I would get the hang of using it thinking it may get better. I was wrong it just did not want to work. Instyler sent me a new one maybe thinking the one I was using were faulty (bad move) but I had more of the same......frizzy half straightened half curly hair eeww! Needless to say I got rid of them and have not looked back since buying my new straighteners! I don't recommend this to anyone unless you have straight hair and wish to curl or add volume which is all it which is all it is good for!
Tips: If you have very curly hair like I do, don't bother getting it for straightening because it doesn't work! Perfect for adding volume or curls for straight hair.
I've used this product on and off for 2 years on my thick wavy hair. It's easy to use when straightening and it leaves my hair looking soft and shiny without fail. However I find that it requires too much effort to generate nice curls even after watching 'how-to' videos. It's also noisy and not ideal if you're the first person up in the morning getting ready for work. I don't recommend this product because it's faster to curl your hair using a normal straightener.
I have difficulty getting my hair straight at the best of times - it's wavy, long and extremely thick. Not just in the sense that there's a lot of hair, but the hair its self is coarse and thick. If I wanted the results off the TV using the instyler, I would have had to sit in front of a mirror for a good 2 hours going over and over sections of hair - which is not ideal for someone like me with two young children. I think I'll stick to my VS Godess til I can upgrade!
Tips: Teamed with an expensive shampoo, conditioner and other such treatments - and a decent haircut, it would probably be a little easier to use.
Also, use the instructional DVD - it is really easy to mess up the curls!
I believed the hype many moons ago and purchased the Instyler because I was curious and the models on TV made it look so easy. At the time I had shoulder length hair but quite fine and at times dry.
The Instyler did my hair no favours, in fact I think it burnt my hair - and it definitely caused a few burns to the hand from the awkward way of holding it and getting my hair into the device. Even with the protection cage I would also manage to burn my ear!
The rotating curler if it catches your hair at the wrong angle pulls and tugs, and brings back childhood memories of my mother untangling my hair before school. I don't know if it was the enthusiastic way it the cylinder rotates against the brush, or the fact that my hair was fine, but there was always hair left in the brush after use - which after a while was a real concern.
I could get something that resembled a curl from the Instyler - but was more like a kink of a wave, and I could never master straightening with it at all. It was just lots of fluffy hair. It never replaced my straighteners for straightening my hair.
I never tried the hottest heat setting, for fear for my hair and my ears, and the lowest setting was okay but still seemed quite hot. What I did notice, was the styles when I did manage something suitable for public viewing never really held for long through the day.
Needless to say I wasn't impressed and suspect it's better suited to those with longer hair and a higher pain threshold than me.....so now my Instyler sits on the top shelf of my wardrobe, wondering if it will ever see daylight again. Which it likely won't.
I brought two of these, one for my mum and one for me. It took ages to get to us (over a month) My mum has shoulder length, thin, straight hair so we were hoping she would be able to get a few looks out of it.
We were excited when they finally arrived. The packaging was nice and it felt like a nice quality but that's were it stopped. I plugged it in and I noticed it has a very small cord. Also the sound when it's turned on is very loud (my mum also agreed) For me personally the bristles were to soft and couldn't hold my hair properly. I have very thick, wavy, long hair and I was wanting some proper curls.
This product is not for me.
The InStyler was great for one thing - making my hair super smooth and silky! It brushes at the same time, so it smoothes out your hair really well. However it is really bulky, so not good for my medium length, fine hair, bob cut. I also couldn't get it right to my roots. I managed to straighten my hair with it pretty well, but couldn't manoeuvre it to do curls or volume. I even watched youtube clips. I prefer my Cloud9 to this.
Tips: Probably good for thick long hair, not good for fine shorter length hair. Also be CAREFUL, if you accidentally touch the barrel, it is HOT!
I loved my instyler! It was interesting to use at first but once I got the hang of it, I preferred it over my other heat tools. I was able to use big sections and get nice straight sleek hair or smaller sections to give my very curly frizzy hair a nice loose wave that is very on trend now. What I liked about the instyler is that I only had to run it through once through each section and it would make my hair straight and zero frizz, so it cut down on a lot of time, especially in the mornings. The cord is nice and long as well.
Now onto what I didn't like about it, and why it got given a lower score from me is that because it's so powerful and it only has 2 settings which I don't know what the actual heat was at. On the second setting it heats up so fast and so high, it is quite damaging to my hair, even with a heat protectant it, my hair would feel fried afterwards. I used the Instyler for around 5 years and it was truly loved, but now I have retired it in favor of a heat tool that I can see what heat setting I'm using and can adjust to a lower heat setting, but have to run it through my hair multiple times. It takes longer, but I think it is less damaging to my hair.
The instyler is a great tool but customers should be aware of just how hot and fast it does your hair. On the plus it cuts down on time in the mornings and has a nice long power cord but on the negative, it really does not offer any heat protection and will damage your hair. So whatever value higher over the other is whether you would love the Instyler or not.
I was after a curler when I saw the Instyler and decided to give it a go despite the cheesy advertising. I have to admit, the packaging was impressive. It looked girlie and colourful yet sophisticated.
I loved that it came with a protective guard and a travel bag. i got the pink one which looks really pretty.
First I tried straightening. The results were VERY impressive. My locks came out smooth, glossy, and with added volume. But the curls were another story. Although the curls looked really nice when they first formed, they soon became strange knotted shapes...
I keep my Instyler for straightening with added volume and I would recommend it to friends
