All the other products I reviewed in this range for the BR trial were really good so I found this product just meh. I found that I didn't really need to use this product between washes as my hair felt fine even after 3 days and maybe only a little oily after 4 days (so the other products made this one a little redundant?). It did help my hair feel not as limp and gave it a little bit of oomph until I washed it again.

Reviews
I received, gratefully, this whole Elvive Clay range from BR to review. I'm a massive advocate of dry shampoo and I was pumped to try this out. That's about where my excitement ended. I sprayed this product on my oily roots (day 2 after using the hair mask, shampoo and conditioner... I wasn't expecting oily roots!) and... Nothing. My hair was coated in a fine mist, that was slightly damp. "Maybe it dries" I thought. It dried, excellent. But I still had oily roots. I shook the bottle again, and sprayed. I still had oily roots. "Maybe it's me I thought". I tried the next day (day 3 since washing) and it didn't work: I headed in the shower to wash my hair. I tried again the following day - same result. I ended up using my Bastiste dry shampoo! I tried again for the third and fourth time, and have had to admit defeat. I can't get this work to work for me, at all. I've tried a LOT of different dry shampoos on the market (maybe up to 10 brands), this would come in, frankly, at the bottom of the rankings.
Tips: No suggestions, this didn't work for me at all!
I got to put this product to the test for a week. On my second day after washing my hair, I had to use this to revive that freshness and clean scalp. I can say that as soon as i sprayed this product to my roots i got that satisfying hit of freshness that i was craving straight away. This satisfaction was short lived as the product only lasted a few hours and my scalp and hair started feeling heavy and oily. This did not stop me from re-applying the product though.
As a regular dry shampoo user I was super excited to try out and review the L'Oreal Paris ELVIVE Extraordinary Clay Dry Shampoo however I was left feeling disappointed.
The bottle is quite small (150ml) whereas my usual dry shampoo comes in 200ml for the same price (although I always snap it up for much cheaper), I did like the packaging though. I followed the directions and applied to my roots on day two after washing my hair and discovered that this product really lives up to the 'no residue' claim which i'm not too sure I like although it is great that you don't have to spend ages brushing it out or worrying that you missed some. I found that this dry shampoo didn't absorb oils very well at all which was a bummer. My hair still looked oily and not refreshed at all really. I decided to give it another go a few days later after I had washed my hair again and it was much the same. I will stick to my Batise Dry Shampoo as I find it works the best at absorbing the oil.
I really really love this Dry Shampoo!!
1 it smells amazing , I think this range is the best smelling hair care products out there!! 2 it didn't leave my hair chalky like Batiste does. 3 it really did suck the oil and leave my hair fresh, smelling great and it really did leave my hair looking like id had a quick shampoo!
It also did NOT dry my roots out , at all!
It looks great 2 days later , not like Batiste ..
I am very impressed and will continue to repurchase.
My hair is literally oily 2 days after a shampoo and I have cherry red coloured hair so I do not wash it often!
It brushes through really easy and your hair is very easy to style afterwards. The nozzle sprays well and clear, does not seem to clog and the can is easy to hold. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
Tips: Just try it
Convenient size and easy to handle spray bottle. Easy to spray with one hand - you don't need to push down too hard. This smells as good as the shampoo and conditioner only a little stronger. I used this after not washing my hair the day before and it worked almost instantly. The look and fell of oiliness were gone. It did seem to dull my hair which I was hoping it wouldn't. After about 3 uses the bottle still seems mostly full. This is definitely a product I will continue to buy for emergencies or for a quick refresh during the day. I am sure I will get more use out of it in the summertime than in winter.
Tips: Don't wear black when applying as it will leave a white mark if you get some on your clothes.
I am an avid user of dry shampoo. It is a product that I always have in my possession, to keep my oily hair under control. I hadn't used a dry shampoo with clay in it before so I was curious to see how well it would work.
The full price of this product at Countdown is $11.19 and you get 150ml (97.8g). As a comparison, the medium sized Batiste dry shampoo is $11.99 at full price and you get 200ml (120g).
I used it for the first time on the third day since I'd washed my hair. My hair wasn't overly oily at this stage, but I felt like it needed something to freshen it up. I gave it a good shake and started spraying it onto my hair like I would with any other dry shampoo. At first I wondered if I hadn't shaken it properly, because there was absolutely no residue in hair. With other products you can normally see a build up of white powder in your hair, but there was nothing with this one. I sprayed it in one spot for a few seconds and only then did I see any residue. So it definitely lives up to it's claim of no residue.
I then massaged the dry shampoo into my hair, left it for a few minutes and brushed it out. My hair felt a little less oily and it smelled like it had been freshly washed. However it just didn't feel like it had absorbed as much oil as other dry shampoos do.
I will continue to use this dry shampoo until it is empty, as I like the refreshing smell it gives my hair. But it's not the best at absorbing oil, so I won't be repurchasing it.
Again, I like the packaging colour, other than that it's pretty standard. The product itself comes out as more of a fine mist than the normal dry shampoo I am used to. This scent is way too strong for me.
I was impressed with the rest of the range and looked forward to using this. It took awhile to be able to use it since the other products do their job so well.
I'm glad I waited. It let me down. My hair had built up a decent amount of oil, but nothing more than my normal 2 day build up. I read the instructions and though they were a little different I followed them. I sprayed it in, left it for a bit and then brushed it. I assumed that the spray was collecting up the oil or something and then might get brushed out? But I noticed no difference. I tried again, this time messing my hair up with my fingers straight after - this made a slight difference, some of the oil seemed to be gone. Across my part was still pretty oily though.
I tried again a few days later, knowing I was going to wash my hair that night anyway and I had the same results. It just didn't do enough. A normal dry shampoo can get me through another day, but I had to wash instead of using this.
Tips: I don't have any tips for this as it didn't work for me at all.
I used this in between shampooing and it did help a little. I haven't used a lot of different dry shampoos so didn't have a lot to compare on. I sprayed and left for around the 2 min mark as per instructions then brushed through. Has a really nice smell and most of the time left my hair looking great. I found it made my hair less knotty than after using the shampoo and conditioner so that made it more manageable. Will continue to use this for in between shampoos and have recommended to others to try.
Tips: Don't hold to close to hair when spraying.
L'Oreal Paris ELVIVE Extraordinary Clay Dry Shampoo was part of a BR trial for the entire range, and I tried it on the third day after using Shampoo and Conditioner to bridge me over until the next wash. Application is easy, the smell is nice, and it does not leave any residue in the hair. However, I felt like it only worked for a few hours, and I couldnt wait to wash my hair. I would use this for emergencies, but certainly not in lieu of a proper wash.
