I love this bleach. I eventually went from dark colored hair to pink. Used this before applying my pink dye and it works like a charm.

Manic Panic is such a fun brand, always love the bright packaging. This box comes with super easy instructions and everything you need for application including REALLY good gloves (other brands usually come with these huge gloves that get dye stuck in folds), and a mixing bowl (I know, right??). I used this bleach to go from red to blonde and it worked really well too! Usually I’d need to bleach or lighten my hair twice or thrice to get the red out but I only needed to do this once. My hair was just below my shoulder length and I only needed the one box to do the job. It didn’t burn my scalp or leave my hair super dry and gross afterward. I’m even more impressed because I think it’s relatively cheap for all that comes with it and for the results. Definitely give this a go
I had stubborn black hair that just would not lift! I had to use three packs of this to lighten my hair.. it was better than Nordic (although that is brilliant too) this was stronger & not so damaging on my hair... and it really did work so brilliantly well!
With any lightening kit there is going to be some damage to your hair no matter how much precaution you put into the process but the Manic Panic range just seem to be easier and less harsh than other box kits on the market and is the reason why I only use theirs when I am changing hair colours.
The kit comes with all the items you need, and very clear instructions. I find that the development time is very fast with these kits and there is a lot of product to ensure that you cover every inch of your hair, especially if you have thick hair which we all know requires 2 boxes of colour normally as there is just so much of it.
So I have long dyed black hair and decided I wanted to dye purple about 20cm from the ends up. I purchased the 40 vol as I thought I would need the strongest to lift the black. It was pretty easy to use and the results I got were to be expected...kinda gingery with blonde areas but it was a perfect base for my bright purple dye. I did find it fried my hair quite a bit so perhaps I should have tried the 30 vol first. Have been using deep treatments to get it back into better condition and it seems to be working. Would use again but try the 30 vol for sure.
so ive never bleached my hair before, not at home or at a hair dressers, but i had a huge build up of black in the ends which i wanted to get rid of, and then dye over with a brown, just to get back to a more natural colour, so went for it, got the 40 vol on, was not to bad in price, $25 plus post. it was easy to mix, it was a bit runny, but that made it easy to apply. i had a few issues using the brush to apply it, would have been easier if someone else was doing it for me. after applying it, it didn't take to long to start working, i had it on for about an hour as it started to burn, being that i couldn't see what i was doing i got quite alot on my scalp, so was beginning to burn a bit. given that i didn't get to have it on the full amount of time my hair ended up very orange on the ends and white at the roots, but it was fine for me as i was covering it up anyways. my head was sore for a few days after. i would use it again if i had the same problem i did, but would get someone to help me next time
Tips: have some else do it for you, and use a cap or foils to stop it from going on your scalp.
For once in my life I decided to do something crazy, but so completely sane at the same time, and I went full unicorn hair. I was recommended this bleach by a friend, and I ummed and ahhed about the price for a while, but I thought bugger it and bought 3 boxes, two 30 volume and a 40 volume.
On the day I used both 30 vol boxes. Inside the box was the developing cream, a mixing bowl, a brush, amazing gloves, a cap and the powder. I mixed the first box together and set to work, and once both boxes were in my hair I placed the cap over and went into the sun. Sun opens up the hair and lets the bleach penetrate better.
After an hour I rinsed and was surprised, 2 boxes of 30 volume made my roots go white blonde and the rest was a nice blonde, and some parts that had never been bleached in general just went a nice darker blonde (... ginger). I waited the rest of the day and night to use the 40 volume but I was disappointed with the results of it.
The difference between 30 vol and 40 vol is how many shades lighter your hair will go. 30 vol got me to white blonde (at my roots at least), so when I used the 40 vol on the bits that needed to be lightened (nowhere else), I was surprised at how crap it made my hair feel after I used it, and how much breakage at the ends I had. I wouldn't use the 40 vol again, that's for sure.
The results of this bleach is honestly amazing though. It's the first bleach that doesn't fry my hair, and it leaves my hair surprisingly soft. It doesn't come with a conditioner and I hadn't used a mask so I was pleasantly surprised by that fact. For $25 a box, with the results I got, I would definitely purchase this again in the 30 volume.
I wanted to lighten my hair although I wasn't quite sure exactly what I wanted to do with it, from what degree of blonde I wanted or did I want a pretty pastel color.. So the objective was unclear when I began with this, i'd had it sitting in the box for about 6 weeks before I found the balls to use it. I had some back up if things turned disasterous, a box of light ash blonde bleach dye, a dark purple color dye and a tube of fudge clean blonde violet toning shampoo. My hair when I applied the manic panic flash lightening kit was ombre, the lengths a medium honey blonde and the top half of my hair natural dark brown. I used the 30 volume strength kit.
The kit comes with surgical type rubber gloves, a plastic cap, bottle of developing cream, a small packet of bleach powder, an applicator brush,a plastic container to mix up the formula and instructions of course. This kit is simple to use and apply the brush makes it easy but I had some help with the back. I found that the product didn't go far I definately needed 2 lots for my long hair and only had one so I left the already lightened lengths and only applied it to the top half of my hair, even then it wasn't quite enough but I tried to disperse the product as evenly as I could. It took about 10 minutes to apply the product then I popped on the cap and sat outside in the sun for almost 2 hours before rinsing out.
The result was quite patchy as I hadn't had enough product but it was mostly light yellow there were brassy bits where I hadn't applied a sufficient amount of the bleach formula. After rinsing I massaged loads of fudge violet toning shampoo through my hair using it as a mask, put a cap on, got out the shower and waited about half an hour before washing out. I definitely noticed the change in texture of my hair it felt coarser but not horrible and straw like, although after a generous amount of deep conditioning treatment it felt soft and smooth again. My hair was then mostly white blonde after the purple shampoo mask, but patchy and did not suit my skin tone. I couldn't leave it like that and ended up dying over with the back up purple color I had, mixing it with conditioner so I managed to acheive a pastel ashy tone.
I've used a few other lightening kits in the past and this one is the most effective by far although you're still going to need purple toning shampoo if your hair is quite dark before bleahing.
Tips: The product didn't go far for me, if your hair length is past your shoulders you're probably going to need 2 kits, unless your hair is very thin. Also this did irritate my scalp but it was bearable, may not be quite so bearable if you have sensitive skin/scap or have had terrible reactions to bleach in the past.
A little about my hair first, it is thick, dry, curly and slightly damaged (or so I thought) from many years of artificially colouring of which the last 4 years I have been red. The red hair dye in my hair before I used this kit was done at a salon every 8 weeks for the last 4 years so it was pretty well ingrained! I had already tried to rid the red by using a hair colour remover that just took the darker red away but left it brown red with ginger accents. When I decided I wanted to go blonde I wanted to do so without much damage to my already over processed mane but with the colour remover failing I knew I had to resort to the bleaching method, so after reading one of the reviews for this lightening kit I knew it was going to be the best route.
Firstly I have to say what an amazing quality the whole kit is compared with others on the market. Mainly being that the gloves included were surgical quality not flimsy plastic bag type that are designed for those who have giant hands these were snug and help with the whole even application of product through my hair. The formula wasn’t overly toxic either, I did do this in my bathroom with the windows open to keep it well ventilated but even still most at home kits be it dyes or bleaching have an overpowering toxic smell that can at times leave me teary. Seeing how mild and easy this was going into my hair (note I used 1 box only and I have shoulder length hair that is really thick!!) I did think that I was going to have to repeat this again as I feared it wasn’t going to have much of a lightening effect but I was very wrong!!! I popped the whole contents through my hair (leaving the roots to last of course) and then wrapped my head up in cling film as this helps the development. After waiting for 45 minutes I unwrapped and rinse thoroughly, then shampoo and conditioned it.
Amazingly strong, this had taken all red out and left me with a very slight copper to blonde all over, that nothing a box of blonde toner couldn’t fix. I was extremely happy with the results, not only the lightening but my hair condition, in the past I have been left with straw like hair after bleaching but it was really soft! I put it down to the formula being gentle and also my overuse of conditioner on a regular basis, using the correct products for my hair type, and letting my hair have a cool down period before reapplying another hair dye or lightener. It’s now a lovely sandy blonde, with a soft texture to it and its laying in curls so pretty like. One very happy customer, glad I went with only 30% now as I think the 40% would have left me white! Highly recommend to anyone this product is fab!!!!
Tips: As with any harsh treatment like bleaching, make sure you have well conditioned your hair ready, let it have breathing space before you go ahead with the re-colouring and have a flannel at the stand by for drips and spills
My hair is a dark blonde which I lighten to a very light blonde. After reading the reviews on beautyreview I decided to give this one a go and I'm so glad I did! One kit did my entire thick long hair and it was easy to use coming with a coloring bowl and brush. I used the 40 volume the first time and left it on for 20 minutes, the second time I used 30 vol lightning kit and left it on for the full max recommended time. Both 40 vol and 30 vol lightened my hair to the pale gold pigment that I wanted to achieve.
Tips: Its no secret bleaching your hair is damaging and you will experience dryness and brittleness. Invest in a deep conditioner that you like and give your hair a good conditioning treatment afterwards. Read instructions carefully and do not exceed recommended processing time.
