Well its a long time since I have used a semi permanet hair colour on my hair, so I was feeling a bit apprehensive, but after reading the instructions it seemed fairly straight forward , and so I began, I left it on my hair for 20 minutes, but I actually think my hair needed a bit longer, but Clairol Natural is very natural I was really surprised at how soft my hair was after I had finished, , Time will tell how well it washes but for now the colour is nice and natural, and the brillant shine conditioner really feels nice on your hair, I would recommend this product .

Tips: maybe leave the colour on for a bit longer to get more depth
I haven't dyed my hair in around 10 years, I love my natural colour. but every now and then I do want to change things up a little but not be too wedded to the end result. Using Clairol Natural Instincts Semi Permanent Hair Colour was so easy, everything is provided for you. the only thing I would say is my hair is really thick and medium length. I could tell there wouldn't be enough to do my whole head in the colour, so I only did the bottom half as like a lowlight effect.
I really like the outcome by the way...
The colour had a good consistency, it wasn't running everywhere and stayed where I put it.
The smell was very pleasant, and the colour didn't stain my skin. I did wipe it off and clean up as soon as I applied it.
my hair felt incredibly soft afterward, it didn't feel like fake soft, it felt like I'd had a mini treatment. And doing it on half of my head meant I could feel the difference to the rest of my hair.
I'm yet to wash it out to see how it lasts, but the colour is nice and subtle on my dark hair.
All in all, would recommend.
Tips: Get more than you think you need. I have medium-length (shoulder) thick hair and would need two boxes of colour.
Also wipe along the hairline after application so you don't have any on the skin.
I've been colouring my hair with permanent dye for over 20 years and have never used a semi-permanent one until Beauty Review chose me to trial and review Clairol Natural Instinct. Honestly, it was easy to mix, easy to work with, the gloves are better than alot of the really expensive hair dyes out there and best of all.. no awful chemical smell! The coverage was suprisingly great on my greys and my hair came out really soft and smelt lovely thanks to the wonderful conditioner. I cannot say anything on longivety as review had to made in 10 days and I didn't get to wash it in that time.
Tips: Defintely apply to clean, dry hair as it's gentle unlike permanent dye.
This hair dye sure is different that others on the market. I absolutely love how it contains 80% naturally derived ingredients with no ammonia or parabens. The unboxing and mixing process is much like other boxed dyes without the strong smell. It was easy to apply, I waited the required time and washed out. The conditioner left my hair feeling fantastic! The only downfall is that I wanted to cover all my greys that had come through. I dyed my hair and went to get a hair cut the next day and the dye cover all of my greys. It gave it a good go but missed some. I would use this again definitely.
Tips: Keep the conditioner, and use it with your next hair wash.
I finally found a product that doesn't dry out my scalp and leaves my hair as less damaged as possible. I found it because I was looking for a product that was suitable for wavy hair. Since I do the "curly girl" method, my hair stays soft and shiny. The treatment that it brings leaves the hair super shiny and soft. I have little grey hair and it covers them very well. It doesn't bother me that it lasts 28 washes because the colour I use is very similar to mine. Smell well.
Tips: Use it with clean hair, very good for curly or wavy hair.
I dye my hair regularly and am not loyal to a particular brand. I needed something not harsh while I was pregnant and a friend recommended it to me. I had a bit of trouble finding the colour I wanted in stores so I ended up purchasing online.
I got the shade Dark Burgandy. It came with all the usual bits and bobs. Simply mix together and apply. I have greys particularly by my ears so I always make sure to pay extra attention to that part.
I love that it is made with 80% naturally derived ingredients and has no ammonia! Plus added coconut oil and aloe vera. Definitely something you want to put on your hair. It also doesn't have a horrible smell.
I applied all over then left in for 30 minutes. It rinses out good and doesn't stain everything. Once dry I loved the results....my hair looked super shiny and in the sun the colour was awesome.
It is a semi permanent so I definitely recommend using a colour lock shampoo and conditioner to keep it looking vibrant for as long as possible. I would use this again for sure!
This product was so easy to match to my natural mousy brown hair. I wanted to use it to create a more even colour look (mask some greys and cover natural sun tips) as well as give my hair a bit of a lift. In just over 45 mins (dye and wash/dry) it had done just that so I’m thrilled. The conditioner creates next level shine and you wouldn’t have guessed I had dyed my hair which is exactly what I wanted.
Tips: I have a lot of hair (and sits past shoulder blades) so took the punt to use 2 bottles. Glad I did as I have thirsty hair and the coverage was perfect.
The packaging is pretty with pastel green colour. It has clear instructions. Very easy to use and apply. The conditioner is so good, after using it my hairs are soft and shiny. There is no nasty smell just a mild odour. This product gave full coverage to my grey hair. I had no itching on scalp. The results are as expected. I definitely recommend this product.
The packaging looks good and it was free from nasties, which was great as I have allergies which means that most permanent colour I cannot use.
My natural hair colour is more white than grey and I have short hair. This provided more than enough for short hair. It was easy to apply and I left it on for the correct amount of time and followed all of the instructions. My husband loved the colour and it did look good. It covered well and looked natural, but as I wash my hair frequently I am unsure as to whether it would last the full 28 washes, although so far so good. It has definitely lasted longer than other brands that I have used. I also usually leave a semi permanent colour on for longer than it says so would consider doing this next time.
Great value for money and will definitely use this again. Well worth the money.
Tips: I got my husband to help ensure that the back of my hair was well covered.
I'm not normally a big fan of colouring my own hair at home, if you have long, thick hair like me, it can be a time-consuming and messy process!
In trying the Clairol Natural Instincts Semi Permanent Hair Colour, I only needed to colour my roots. Firstly, the products are pretty standard, two tubes of colour creme and activator to combine, 1 tube of conditioner and a pair of gloves. The gloves compared to other brands I've used, are great, they fit me well and were good quality (for plastic disposables).
The instruction leaflet was super easy to follow with photos, you really can't go wrong. The product was a nice texture, creamy and not drippy, it was easy to distribute through my hair.
The most surprising thing was that the scent was so nice! Usually the chemical smell is quite strong and harsh with hair dye, so I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed the scent of this Clairol hair colour. The conditioner supplied is a generous amount and smells amazing too, must be the coconut oil and aloe vera!
I left my colour in for 15 minutes for the roots area, as instructed, and then coloured the rest of my hair and waited 10 minutes before rinsing. I was happy with the colour result after drying my hair, although I could see a few lighter wisps at my roots (I have black hair) so maybe I needed to leave the product in for another 5 minutes or so. My hair was shiny and soft though and it looked healthy.
Overall I enjoyed using this product, I was impressed with the quality - from the gloves to texture and scent. I haven't had 28 washes yet to see if the colour lasts that long as advertised, but would be happy to recommend this to anyone looking for a decent home hair colour product. :)
Tips: Keep a wet flannel or wet wipes handy to immediately wipe away the product when it gets on your skin to avoid stains and irritation.
