I have long wavy hair which has a high percentage of grey around my face and temple areas . l like to blend tge grey in with my dark to medium blonde hair . So the overall effect is natural . I tried the number 8 Medium blonde it's some where in-between my true colour and lighter areas. It's such a gentle natural formula, which blended away my grey and root line Great that there is no ammonia in the product aswell Definitely will try again instead of spending a fortune at the hairdresser, and not getting what l asked for! Will post photos of my results

Tips: Maybe two boxes if your hair is long , l only used one as used it on grey hair and root line
I usually use another permanent colour by Clairol so was interested to try something different. As the name suggests, the Natural Instincts colour didn't have any harsh chemical smell. The colour mixed easily and was ready to apply in a few seconds.
I felt this was a little more difficult to apply as the other colour I use is a thicker mix and tends to "hold" the hair up better when you're applying the colour to the under layers. Whereas with this one I kept having to battle bits of hair getting in the way.
Having said this, the colour was very even and consistent and covered all the grey (yay!). As it's still early days I don't know how long the colour will last for. It was slightly darker than I anticipated but most box colours generally are in my experience. As it washes out it will no doubt fade a little.
I really liked the natural feel and smell and I do like the colour, even though it's darker!
Tips: Wear an old towel or t-shirt while applying it as the coloured hair doesn't stay in place and will drop down onto your clothing.
On arrival I had a good read of the light green packaging. Nice to see contents that I could understand. Aloe Vera and coconut oils, which can leave your hair nourished and soft. Up opening and mixing there was no harsh smell that you normally get upon mixing. The cream was thick but runny enough to spread easily on my head, and yes I managed to do my own hair with the applicator. One package managed to coat my long hair evenly and gave good coverage. The scent wasn’t strong like some dyes have, it was pleasantly surprised. The cost was comparable to a permanent dye you purchase and still get a month or so from it before the greys start showing hopefully. I was pleased with the overall colour of my hair, and how it felt afterwards. The aloe and coconut made my hair soft and manageable rather than stiff and dry like other dyes. It would be nice to see after a month of washing that my colour on the grey is not gone, it would be good to update for this. I currently recommend it to those who wish not to have strong chemicals on their hair.
Tips: I did by myself but recommend help for applying.
I wrote a review last night, but I can’t find it intended to add part 2!So this is part two, so I’ll do the first part again as well. First of all ,there was no smell as stated on the box which was nice. Definitely no ammonia and no strong yukky smells in fact, subtle coconut I think. It was very easy to apply and make a suds like shampoo , although I must say I like to have somebody to help me at the back of my head, and to let me know if I flicked dye my hair over my face by mistake as the dye sets quickly, so you need to wipe it off for the warm flannel as quick as you can. DEFINITELY wear the gloves provided ! My natural hair is very dark brown and I found this colour actually made my hair almost black, but it looks still very natural. One thing I love is the feel of the conditioner too . Very soft & could use a small amount x have heaps fir a few conditions…It makes my hair feel soft , and my hair feels slightly thicker today too ,( great for not so thick hair ) and it is really shiny even my kids noticed!. I will definitely use this again. I would probably choose a slightly lighter colour for me, and I found it covered my greys really well.love to knowing also it has aloe Vera and coconut & no added parabens . So lots healthier for your scalp . Happy !
Tips: I would put a shout a towel over your shoulders or an old T-shirt as it can easy flick on your shoulders as you’re working at I have quite long hair. And also make sure you have some wipes or adult flannel with warm water going, so you can wipe it off the side of your face by your ears in at the back of your neck if you need to, and really easy to have someone else to do that for you tricky to see at the back.!
I wanted to try this to cover a few greys that are showing! It left my hair feeling like I have been to the salon! It’s so glossy and shiny!
Tips: I started at my roots to ensure my greys were covered first!
I haven't dyed my hair in around 10 years, I love my natural colour. but every now and then I do want to change things up a little but not be too wedded to the end result. Using Clairol Natural Instincts Semi Permanent Hair Colour was so easy, everything is provided for you. the only thing I would say is my hair is really thick and medium length. I could tell there wouldn't be enough to do my whole head in the colour, so I only did the bottom half as like a lowlight effect.
I really like the outcome by the way...
The colour had a good consistency, it wasn't running everywhere and stayed where I put it.
The smell was very pleasant, and the colour didn't stain my skin. I did wipe it off and clean up as soon as I applied it.
my hair felt incredibly soft afterward, it didn't feel like fake soft, it felt like I'd had a mini treatment. And doing it on half of my head meant I could feel the difference to the rest of my hair.
I'm yet to wash it out to see how it lasts, but the colour is nice and subtle on my dark hair.
All in all, would recommend.
Tips: Get more than you think you need. I have medium-length (shoulder) thick hair and would need two boxes of colour.
Also wipe along the hairline after application so you don't have any on the skin.
I've been colouring my hair with permanent dye for over 20 years and have never used a semi-permanent one until Beauty Review chose me to trial and review Clairol Natural Instinct. Honestly, it was easy to mix, easy to work with, the gloves are better than alot of the really expensive hair dyes out there and best of all.. no awful chemical smell! The coverage was suprisingly great on my greys and my hair came out really soft and smelt lovely thanks to the wonderful conditioner. I cannot say anything on longivety as review had to made in 10 days and I didn't get to wash it in that time.
Tips: Defintely apply to clean, dry hair as it's gentle unlike permanent dye.
This hair dye sure is different that others on the market. I absolutely love how it contains 80% naturally derived ingredients with no ammonia or parabens. The unboxing and mixing process is much like other boxed dyes without the strong smell. It was easy to apply, I waited the required time and washed out. The conditioner left my hair feeling fantastic! The only downfall is that I wanted to cover all my greys that had come through. I dyed my hair and went to get a hair cut the next day and the dye cover all of my greys. It gave it a good go but missed some. I would use this again definitely.
Tips: Keep the conditioner, and use it with your next hair wash.
I'm not normally a big fan of colouring my own hair at home, if you have long, thick hair like me, it can be a time-consuming and messy process!
In trying the Clairol Natural Instincts Semi Permanent Hair Colour, I only needed to colour my roots. Firstly, the products are pretty standard, two tubes of colour creme and activator to combine, 1 tube of conditioner and a pair of gloves. The gloves compared to other brands I've used, are great, they fit me well and were good quality (for plastic disposables).
The instruction leaflet was super easy to follow with photos, you really can't go wrong. The product was a nice texture, creamy and not drippy, it was easy to distribute through my hair.
The most surprising thing was that the scent was so nice! Usually the chemical smell is quite strong and harsh with hair dye, so I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed the scent of this Clairol hair colour. The conditioner supplied is a generous amount and smells amazing too, must be the coconut oil and aloe vera!
I left my colour in for 15 minutes for the roots area, as instructed, and then coloured the rest of my hair and waited 10 minutes before rinsing. I was happy with the colour result after drying my hair, although I could see a few lighter wisps at my roots (I have black hair) so maybe I needed to leave the product in for another 5 minutes or so. My hair was shiny and soft though and it looked healthy.
Overall I enjoyed using this product, I was impressed with the quality - from the gloves to texture and scent. I haven't had 28 washes yet to see if the colour lasts that long as advertised, but would be happy to recommend this to anyone looking for a decent home hair colour product. :)
Tips: Keep a wet flannel or wet wipes handy to immediately wipe away the product when it gets on your skin to avoid stains and irritation.
It's so hard to find a good semi permanent hair colour these days! I'm sure they used to be everywhere, but now they're really hard to find so I was really pleased to discover that this one does what it says it will!
Great coverage, didn't smell like I was being poisoned while I was applying it 🤣.
Sadly as the turnaround time is so short from shipping to review time I haven't had a chance to wash it even once since receiving it, so I am hopeful the colour lasts more than one or two washes.
