I call this particular Shampoo of the L'Oreal Elvive Clay Range the Strip Shampoo. Why? In using this very product i found the results disappointing. I felt that my hair was complete stripped to the point where my hair felt hard. My scalp also felt dry even though i'd just washed the product off. On the packaging, it said that it will leave your hair feeling fresh and clean for 72 hrs, however, it really didn't. Try 48 hrs, where my head started to get that itch where you know you have to wash your head because that freshness, that cleanliness is gone. I had to dry shampoo the heck out of my head just to get through the day. This shampoo was not suited for my scalp and hair.

I love L'Oreal as a brand, but I must admit I was a bit skeptical about a 'clay' shampoo. Would it be chalky? Would it be drying?
The shampoo (super cute packaging by the way!) is like the Goldilocks of shampoo - not too thick, not too thin. It smells so fresh, like there's not a particularly scent, it's just fresh smelling - maybe a bit 'clinical'.
It doesn't lather up too much, which I like, I hate foamy shampoos.
My hair felt nice in that period of time between rinsing and applying conditioner. Usually it feels quite tangled and straw-like, with this it just felt like wet hair.
So, by itself, a really nice, affordable shampoo that does the job of a shampoo.
Tips: I never bother with shampooing twice, and with this one you really don't need to.
This shampoo did a great job of combating my oily roots.
With my normal shampoo and conditioner I wash my hair every second day, but on my no-wash days I sometimes need to top up with a bit of dry shampoo in the morning, and I ALWAYS need dry shampoo if I'm going out in the evening of my no-wash day. With the Extraordinary Clay shampoo I found that I never needed dry shampoo on that second day, so it's a big win for me there.
I have to say I don't love how much the scent lingers. It's not an awful scent, in fact I kind of like it, but I strongly prefer hair products that don't leave a scent in my hair at all and this range definitely leaves a fairly strong and persistent smell, which is somewhat 'chemical' ish.
It's quite foamy so I use probably half the amount as I would of normal shampoo (or quarter of the amount if I'm using it after the mask from the same range). My only complaint is that it's far too harsh for my tips and the conditioner from the range just doesn't do enough to counter that. On day 2 my tips start getting dry and angry, and if I use dry shampoo to stretch things out to day 3 then my tips are a gnarled mess.
However, I like this shampoo enough that I'm probably going to shop around to see if I can find a better conditioner or treatment to pair with it and hopefully counteract the effects, and if I do then I'll definitely repurchase.
I've been using this shampoo daily since receiving it and have mixed feelings towards it.
My initial impressions were good. The bottle is a lovely blue-green colour and the scent is very nice and clean.
The shampoo itself foams up a LOT. You only need a small amount as the foam takes care of the rest. I found this shampoo to be very drying on my hair so focused it on my scalp and tried to avoid the lengths of my hair as much as possible. The foam covered the lengths regardless so would always dry it considerably.
I will finish the bottle but I won't be repurchasing it purely because it is so drying on my hair.
Tips: Only use a small amount and focus it on the scalp, massaging the product in.
Loved the shampoo! I normally have to wash my hair daily, otherwise my hair is an oily mess. After using for a week, I am now able to wash my hair every 2nd day. My hair feels light, clean and nourished. This has a really creamy texture. I found a little goes a long way with this product. I will definitely purchase this again!
Tips: I found that if I don’t use the Detox Clay Mask, the shampoo works better for me.
The shampoo is good. I think even if I didn't use the clay mask I would consider using just the shampoo and conditioner by themselves. Lovely fragrance and easy to work with. I do notice that my hair is lasting longer between washes but can leave your hair a bit dry and frizzy once dried.
I didn't have a problem with my hair dye washing out - very minimal if any.
Tips: You might feel a bit dry and frizzy once the hair is dried but I reckon it's all about the blowout. Use the direction nozzle if you have one. I also use a spritz of light conditioner on my ends.
Horray!!! I'm so excited about this shampoo, I have really oily roots and its hard to find a good balanced shampoo and I'm loving this one, It does a great job of cleansing my hair, yet not drying it out completely. Before adding the conditioner to my hair I noticed my hair didn't feel "stripped" and still felt really soft. The shampoo lathers up really well, I even felt like I didn't need to repeat with that extra shampoo which I always do. I'm a shampoo every 2 days day kinda gal, and sometimes every day depending on what I'm doing with my hair, which can be really frustrating especially in winter with having really thick long hair. But I felt with using this product I got 3 days in without needing to shampoo my hair which is unheard of for me. Love it !!
L'Oreal Paris ELVIVE Extraordinary Clay Shampoo comes in a nice green bottle, easily stored on it's head for easy dispensing. The consistency of the shampoo is quite thick, which is great, because it doesn't just run off your hand and you are able to foam it up quite nicely. The smell is delicious and fruity, both when you are using it and afterwards lingering in your hair. Even while washing, the hair already seems to feel lighter. The hair feels fresh and bouncy, even on the second and third day.
Tips: Use with the Conditioner to maximize results.
This products smells and feels like the other Elvive shampoos. I like how the shampoo cleanses well without drying out the hair and my hair feels so light after I clean it. I received this product as part of a BR trial. The scent is light and refreshing. Really happy with this product.
I was fortunate to be apart of the beauty team trial for this product. I really love the shampoo, you don't need to apply a lot as this lathers up sooooooooo much. Smells awesome and leaves my hair feeling nice and clean afterwards. I can defiantly see this shampoo becoming my go to. Easily one of the best supermarket shampoos I've tried. Works really well with the conditioner to give you shiny, healthy hair!
