Lush Jason & the argan oil solid shampoo bar Review

I have waist length straight thin hair and this stuff is fantastic! My hair is always so shiny and healthy afterwards.

I’m trying to go plastic free where I can, and shampoo is ones of those things. I heard a lot of great things about the Lush shampoo bars and that they can last longer than the bottled shampoo, so I really wanted to try it out for myself. The staff at Lush are always friendly and helpful and one of them helped me pick out one for my oily and frizzy hair. They recommended a few shampoo bars for me and one of them was the Jason and the Argan Oil Shampoo bar. I absolutely loved the smell of it and chose it as my final decision. The shampoo bar itself smells like sweet roses, pink in colour and a small round disc like shape, which fits perfectly in the palm. I also bought a small tin from Lush to store the shampoo bar in.

Once I was ready to wash my hair in the shower, I rubbed the shampoo bar between my palms with water to lather up. I found it difficult to lather and it took a while. I then washed my hair as usual. I found that the product is great, but my shower time took longer trying to lather up the shampoo bar properly. My hair felt very clean and I couldn’t feel any traces of oil in my hair. After my hair dried, it felt very soft, looked very shiny and healthy and smelt amazing. One of the greatest thing about it is, my hair looked clean and fresh for few days, as it usually gets greasy within hours after washing.

It’s important to keep the The Jason and the Argan Oil Shampoo Bar in a dry place after using it, as it will melt. I forgot once and that’s all it took for it to melt. Luckily, it was in a tin and I could still use the product. I preferred the melted version of it as it didn’t take a lot of effort for it to lather up, but that affected the longevity of the product. The shampoo bar also adds a lovely fragrance to the bathroom, it smelt amazing every time I entered. I won’t be purchasing this shampoo bar again though, as it was time consuming to lather up and it left like I was in the shower forever. I’m still keen on trying another shampoo bar and I’m hopeful to find the right one.

I'm not a huge fan of Lush's shampoo bars but I looooove Rose Jam so I picked this up for half price in a Boxing Day sale. It smells amaaaaaaazing. Unfortunately I just don't find Lush shampoo bars great for coloured hair. I love the concept of them but I have yet to find one that doesn't strip hair colour. My hair actually squeaked after using this which, like squeaky skin, I don't think is a good thing.

I also dropped this shampoo bar when it was dry (they need to be kept in a soap dish, away from shower water) and it smashed into a bazillion pieces, most of them too small to continue using. So I won't be repurchasing this but it did make my bathroom smell amazing whilst it was in there.

Lets start with the fact that the water here isn't that flash, so when I wash my hair it never turns out super amazing like it does when staying elsewhere.

I'm not the biggest fan of using hair oils so when looking to change up my hair care the idea of a shampoo which already contains argan oil was intriguing. The bar also happened to be the nicest smelling of the range (IMO), much like Lush's Rose Jam shower gel. Bonus!

So how does what looks like a bar of soap work as a shampoo? The instructions say to rub the bar in your hands to create a lather and then apply this to your hair, but I found this didn't really work. Rubbing the bar over your hair is much more effective.

An incredibly rich lather is created which, unlike some shampoos, rinses out super easily. When dry my hair feels the smoothest and silkiest it ever has (keeping it tied up can be a bit tricky!). So just imagine the result if the water was decent.

The bar becomes quite soft when wet and is susceptible to breaking so it's important to let it dry after use. If your bathroom isn't well ventilated it's best stored out of the shower on something like a soap dish. It also leaves the room smelling delicious in between uses!

Must be onto the fourth or maybe fifth one of these, it really is my go to these days.

Okay, I had heard that the Lush Jason & the Argan Oil Shampoo Bar was good and smelled delicious, but nothing compares to actually using this product and having it sit in my bathroom making everything smell absolutely beautiful! I am such a fan of this gorgeous wee product. It's one of Lush's solid shampoo range, which are supposed to last 80 washes (somehow I doubt this figure, but thought I would give them a go anyway). This particular bar is designed to nourishing and moisturise lighter-toned hair.

The scent of this product is absolutely amazing. It smells like the Rose Jam shower gel, but somehow I prefer the scent of this solid shampoo. It is at once sweet and comforting without being overpowering or sickly. This product lathers really nicely in the shower, and cleanses my scalp without making it feel stripped or over-dry at all. Although I probably won't repurchase this because I do need a slightly more cleansing shampoo, I am currently adoring this product and it's making my bathroom smell like heaven. Plus it's by Lush, so you know your money is going to support amazing causes like caring for the environment and opposing animal testing. Love it!

This shampoo smells really good. However it dod crumble and break after a few times of using it and it didn't lather very well. It did make my hair feel soft but other than that it didn't really do much.

The first thing I noticed about this is how yummy it smells and what a pretty colour it is. It smells heavenly. I love most Lush shampoo bars but unfortunately this one wasn't quite what my hair liked. I have super dry hair and I found that this one made my hair feel even drier. It felt nice and clean and did do the job of making it look shiny, but due to the way it made my actual hair feel, I won't purchase this again, such a shame as it smells so good. I will continue to use it but will make sure I add a little extra conditioner.

Like all other lush products, this smelt heavenly. It's really easy to use and lathers up really well. My hair did feel quite nice afterwards but I'm sure if it made a significant difference. I found some days when I used it, I didn't need conditioner but as I used about half of the bar, I found that I really needed to use conditioner afterwards. I'm not sure how to explain it, but as you use it the bar sort of starts to disintegrate and composition of the bar changes. But it did make my hair feel and smell very nice.

The sales assistant told me the bar lasts 80 washes but I honestly doubt I got 80 washes out of mine. Possible 40 though. It does last a while and is really good for travel. Also, the bar sticks to the container you store it in so just be aware of that.

I LOVE the rose jam shower gel and when I read this smells like the shower gel I had to buy it, I seriously love that scent so much, and since Rose jam is limited edition it's good to know I can still get my fix of the scent.

I have tried solid shampoos before and I wasn't overly fussed on them so I wasn't have high hopes for this either but goodness me it is heaven for my mop!! Yay for me too it is recommended for lighter coloured hair.

It comes in a solid disc shape that fits perfectly in your hand while you run it through your hair this is so easy! It lathers up really well too. And the pretty pink disc definitely has that Rose jam scent, part of me wants to wash myself with it too.

What I love about this shampoo bar is once you have lathered up your hair and start rinsing it, it already feels so soft and I would think if you didn't have dyed or damaged hair you could get away without conditioning. Unfortunately my hair is damaged so a conditioner is a must, however in saying that my hair feels softer than ever and I don't need to use as many serums or masks now.

I was so disappointed when I found out my old favourite shampoo and conditioner wasn't being stocked anymore and never in my wildest dreams did I think I would ever find anything as good. This definitely beats them all totally in love with this!! I have so far had 6 washes from it and I would say I still have at least 6 before its finished. Will be buying again
