I squeezed in two uses in the review timeframe as I’d just had my hair coloured (foils) and I wanted to see how performed after the colour had settled. Both times it left my hair soft and shiny and the colour was great, no brassy tones. I felt the second time I used it the shampoo didn’t spread as well, I felt I need to use more product than I normally would. The only issue I had with it was the colour was so strong it got under my nails leaving them looking dirty! Can’t comment on drying my hair out as I’ve been using Olaplex

I am always dubious trying new purple shampoos and have a fear that it will turn my hair purple The purple shampoo is dark enough to help neutralise orange tones- without leaving my looking like I had a purple rinse. It smells good and gives a nice lather too. Hard to say longer term effects as I only use toned shampoo once a week- but my hair didn't feel awful or 'gritty' when I dried it
Loreal's Purple Shampoo is amazing, super happy and lucky to have trialled it and will happily continue to use it. It doesn't stain my hair/ hands or shower walls unlike some other purple shampoos I've used in the past, it leaves my hair feeling soft and not rough nor clumpy and removes brassy tones with ease. Great packaging and price! can't wait to re-buy soon!
My hair is blonde, highlighted with my natural colour in between. I like my blonde to be vanilla and fresh but it does tend to get brassy no matter what I do. So, I was very excited to trial this new purple shampoo.
The bottle is bright purple and stylish - I love the packaging and it’s eye catching. I have tried many L’Oréal products in the past, and hoped this would be as good.
The formula is also purple. The label said to leave the shampoo on for three minutes which I did. The shampoo has a pleasant smell and while I was shampooing I shaved my legs waiting for the shampoo to do its magic!
The formula did help soften and remove the stubborn brassy tones from my hair and left it feeling silky and smelling nice.
Overall a really nice purple shampoo. Another winner from L’Oréal.
First impressions of this shampoo were that the colour was a deep, vibrant violet and the fragrance was appealing. Two ticks so far!
I have thick, long hair with a half head of lightened foils that I've had done for years now. My blonde is quite warm and I aim more for a blended, creamy colour than I do for an ashy blonde- my main goal is to avoid the yellow tones! Needless to say, I've tried a few purple shampoos!
In the shower, I used a fair amount of product to get a good lather all through my hair; I always double shampoo so I probably used around 2-3 tablespoons all up to get the squeaky-clean feeling that I like. While it might seem like a lot, I only wash my hair once a week so I can see the bottle lasting awhile.
Since I was following with a purple conditioner, I only left the shampoo on for 1-2 minutes as I lathered thoroughly. If I'm using a standard conditioner, I usually leave a purple shampoo on a little longer, especially on the ends, to really brighten up the colour.
Once I rinsed, my hair felt clean and smelled delicious. Too early to tell what effect the purple had on my colour but it didn't feel really harsh and stripped like some others I've tried before.
My overall experience with the shampoo was pretty positive. I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did- just because I've tried non-salon shampoos in the past and have never really been impressed. I would definitely purchase this product again.
Tips: Either cleanse with a clarifying shampoo first or use this for both your first and second washes- you want to get rid of any build-up before letting it work on your colour.
I’ve always used expensive salon purple shampoo so trying this purple shampoo I didn’t know exactly what to expect. Will I regret this? Was the first thought I had. I took the chance and I am definitely impressed with the results. The purple shampoo is a very vivid purple colour and the purple mildly stained my hands. After washing my hands, the stained had disappeared apart from a slight stain remaining around my nails. My hair colour is a blonde ash with grey undertones. After a month or so, the colour has started to fade. My hair had become more dull and all my usual hair products and treatments weren’t working. I thought the only way to get the colour back was another visit to the hair dresser. However after the first use of the shampoo, my hair is more vibrant and the blonde looks amazing. My hair colour has been restored and my hair is so silky soft. I love that this shampoo is suitable for highlighted brunette coloured hair, making it not just for blondes. I also love that this shampoo is affordable and I will definitely be repurchasing this!
Well, I've not used a purple shampoo before although I have heard them mentioned quite frequently lately, my Mum is even using one so I was quite intrigued. I have blonde highlights and my natural hair colour has quite a lot of brassiness to it as well so I think this is the product I’ve been needing.
Before I even got started my 9 year old daughter opened the lid to have a smell and decided it smelt lovely, just like the shampoo from the hairdressers. I would have to agree with her on that one.
I was quite surprised at just how bright purple the shampoo actually is, I had to convince myself I was not pouring a handful of my daughter’s purple paint into my hair. I have heard that purple shampoos can be quite drying, but this didn’t dry out my hair at all. Obviously the conditioner helped out in that regard but my hair was actually a lot softer than it usually is after using my normal shampoo/conditioner.
I didn’t expect to see much of a difference after one use but I think I could actually notice the difference. It will be interesting to see how it works after many more uses. I didn’t realise at first that it is a weekly treatment and not an every day type of shampoo - luckily I read the instructions as I don’t always.
I’m quite impressed at the results from a supermarket shampoo and would definitely recommend this to my friends (and my Mum).
Tips: Read the instructions as you only need to use it once a week.
This shampoo smells lovely and the scent can be picked up through the day.
It's thick and lathers well. I used maybe a 50c piece size and it was more than enough for my very long and thick hair.
The toning effect of this shampoo is amazing. My very yellowed blonde was left ashy and sultry.
I'll definitely keep using this and would buy again - it stands toe to toe with salon purple products and I think it actually knocks them out!
Tips: Follow with the conditioner for that holiest of hair grails...shiny blonde hair!
Upon first seeing this bottle, while attractively packaged, I thought the size of the bottle was quite small. However Once I used the this shampoo I realised that a little goes a long way. Combined with the fact that you only need to use this once a week means that the product lasts much longer than I assumed from the size.
This shampoo smells great, and really does deliver on the promise of a rich and luxurious texture. It lathers well and has great coverage with a small amount of product.
After the first use I noticed a visible difference in the tone of my hair. It really evens out any yellow and grassy tones and leaves a lovely bright blonde in its place. I really look forward to using this shampoo and highly recommend it.
Tips: For darker blondes leave on for the full 5 minutes to really brighten your blonde up.
To avoid purple hands, either wear gloves when applying, or thoroughly wash hands directly after use.
I was very impressed by this product, it had an instant effect on my hair after one use! My highlights were brighter, yay!
Tips: You don’t need to use very much!
