Not for me

In theory these sound good having the strength of 20 bobby pins in one spinner. But unfortunately it doesn't work for my hair because it is too thin. They struggle to grip onto my hair and stay there. They also succeeded in making my hair very knotty. I can tell they would be great if you had thick long hair - so I shall be passing onto a friend with hair like that.

Bobby spinner winner

I lusted over these screw like bobby pins after seeing good reviews and YouTube unboxings of the March BRBB which I contained these. When I first saw the package I thought "three, is that all you get?". I have super thick long hair and have to use a million clips to hold my bun in place. But I was pleasantly surprised to find that three of these spinners were enough.

I usually tie my hair up in a pony tail then twist my hair around and secure them with the spinners. They keep my bun tight and secure all day. Usually during the day my bun would come loose and I would lose the nice circular shape I had in the morning. These spinners keep my bun in a nice tight round all day. The real test for me was being able to run and play sport without my bun coming loose. Sadly it didn't quite past the test. I had to keep readjusting the spinners and re-tying my hair. I have however tried adding another hair tie after I twist my hair around which gives more security and stabilises the bun better.

Make sure you push the spinner right deep down into the bun for maximum strength. It will also ensure that your hair completely covers the spinners. I have also found that the paint on the spinners has started to come off due them being rubbed against each other when screwed into my bun. This is not really an issue for me as I have quite thick dark hair, so my hair always covers the clips. But if you have light or blonde hair you would want to make sure your hair covers the spinners so they are not visible.

Overall I think these clips are really good. They are strong and sturdy too so would last ages before wearing out. My bobby pins stretch quite easily and become loose, especially when using them for buns, so I end up going through a packet of those clips quite quickly. So for $5 for three bobby spinners is pretty good. I have been using these spinners for by buns and they always turn out perfect. If you struggle with managing to hold your bun up or getting that nice a round shape I definitely recommend using these.

Oh dear me

I received these in the March Beauty Box. I really could not figure out what to do with them and I was worried I would end up with them stuck fast in my hair, or worse, a serious injury!

I do have hair slighty longer than shoulder length, and it's always tied up and clipped back, so I would have used them if I could have worked out how to.

In theory they sound like a good idea, but in reality? not for me!

These intrigue me but I still can't figure out in my head how they work! I haven't bought any to try as I think it would be a waste if I couldn't use them.

Holds on tight

I received these in the March Beauty Box and I'm amazed at how good these actually are, they claim to be as strong as 20 normal bobby pins, which I think is true!

I have long fine hair with dry ends, which I put up in pony tails and plaits very often, I don't tend to pop it up in buns as much as I would like as I find bobby pins can't hold my hair up, it slowly falls out during work. (Cheerleading coach and Zumba fitness instructor)

I gave them a test at home first with two bobby spinners in, it gave me lovely hold, and a nice full bun, I was really impressed! Next I tried them at work, and WAHOO! It stayed in all day long, two cheerleading practices, and one hour of Zumba! They work a treat, they slide in easily, and are hidden underneath the bun.

I have found that the colour is starting to chip off them all though, I'm not sure if its because I've got them wet, or that is what happens after a while.

Also, I don't think they can multi task for anywhere as much as the regular bobby pins can, it didnt work for a quiff, as it stuck out too much, or a half up half down do. So thats a bit of a shame, but to know I have a perfect bun that will hold each time is great.

Works for me!

I should preface this review by saying that I have very thick, long hair. Usually that means 20+ regular bobby pins to achieve any sort of up-do, but after picking these spinners up from the vault my life has changed for the better! They look super complicated and a little dangerous, but for most situations I prefer them to regular bobby pins. I can keep my hair up in a bun with only one hair tie and one spinner, which means no hunting through my hair at the end of the night trying to find stray bobby pins to remove. For smaller sections I still use regular bobby pins, but only one or two. They also don't slip out of place once they're screwed in, and are surprisingly easy to use. I've never needed more than the three that come in a pack of these, and they're only a couple of dollars, so definitely worth a try in my opinion.

You spin me right round baby...

I still, cannot for the life of me, get these things to work. I've tried every angle possible and in the end I just get so angry with them I almost pull my hair out in an attempt to get them out.

I have tried using one, I have tried using all three spinners, but they just turn me into a spinner and I can't use them. I can get a very, very loose messy bun, but I like my buns a bit tight (hahaha), My hair still falls out, the spinners don't stay in place and I just get frustrated.

I think they're a cool idea in theory but really, just not for me. I'll stick to my trusty hair ties and regular bobby pins.

Maree and Julieal - I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I certainly feel a bit stupid for not being able to work them when everyone else is having great success!

"Tight buns" lol! Yeah I'm the same, I still haven't been able to make these work for me. I'm sticking with bobby pins, that is, when/if I can find them.

Bobby Spinners

These are such a great Idea! They actually have more hold than your average bobby pins. I never used to wear my hair in a bun as it never used to have any hold. Bobby pins and hair spray failed. I was looking forward to trying these. They are basically self explanatory. They spiral into your bin instead of placing them in straight like a bobby pin. I now wear buns more often and I have never had one of these Bobby Spinners let me down yet!

Perfect bun holders

I really like these. I usually wear my hair in a ponytail, and don't bother with anything fancy. Occasionally I like to wear a bun, but it's often difficult since I have to use a million bobby pins and even then it still doesn't look right.

These spinners make life (and hairstyles) easier. I simply put my hair up and spin the three pins through the bun. It holds perfectly and for a very long time. I find these really easy to use, to get in and out of my hair, and they make it simple to do my hair. They won't give you the perfect immaculate bun, as there are always hair stragglers, but they certainly make it a lot easier!

Good Hair Don't Care

Honestly aside from dyeing my hair on a regular basis, I'm not fussed about how it looks. However these pins make my life so much easier. I often have my hair tied back, especially on days when it hasn't been washed, and these are just so easy to twist into my hair. They prevent breakage, unlike my regular hair ties, and when I let my hair down after doing my make up the natural curls are often accentuated. I really love these and once they've all disappeared (I mean, I doubt these are exempt from the disappearing bobby pin rule) I will definitely buy some more. Plus, they're super affordable!

Spin away

These came in the March BRBB. I looked at them and wondered what they were for. Well did I find out when I turned the card holding them over.

My hair isn't as long as some peoples but still below the shoulders. I can hold my hair up with 1 of these pins, granted it is not the prettiest bun to look at, until I take it down. My hair isn't very long, shoulder length, I just pull my hair into a pony tail and twist till it goes around itself to form the bun, screw in the pin and done. When I do a half up bun though, the bun is so small the pins show at the other end.

While I am not likely to use these out and about, at home they are handy when I just want my hair out of the way. I can see some people getting great use out of these, mainly the school kids and people needing an up do for work or dance.

Tips: Screw them in like a screw driver.
