Jeffree Star Liquid Lipsticks Review

I saw these gorgeous lipsticks by Jeffree Star and really wanted them. Had to talk myself into going out of my comfort zone but the colour just sang out to me and so I purchased one in the colour Dreamhouse - the colour description is that of Barbie's Blood lol.

Packaging: Comes in the most gorgeous tube and because the tube is transparent you can see the true colour and it pretty much shows up that colour on your lips. Hope that warble made sense ha ha ha.

Formula: I find this a gorgeous creamy consistency and a really big bonus for me is that it isn't sticky. I hate that so much. Also once it is applied it goes matte so it stays put on your lips.

Usability: Very user friendly, just your usual standard (although super pretty) lipstick tube with the lip applicator. Glides on easily but I would recommend you glide the applicator on the tube top to get some of the formula off as a little goes a long way and ends up too thick on your lips.

Scent or Flavour: I don't remember it having a scent or fragrance of any kind which is great if you prefer your lip products to be unflavoured or unscented.

Pigmentation: Wow, the pigmentation and shade is amazing. Such a pretty bright pink with a slight shimmer in it. Staying power is pretty good too.

A future purchase? Most definitely, the price is pretty good especially when it is on special. I would love to try a couple of other colours too.

These liquid lippies are gorgeously pigmented, there are lots of out there shades for those creative types and the apply beautifully to the lips. The aplicator is pretty easy to use in my opinion and the product is easy to work with. They aren’t too drying which is also good.

Okay so I got my first jeffree Starr lipstick a couple of years ago and I instantly fell in love. The formula is incredible and so smooth on the lips. It smells amazing and the applicator is really easy to use. I currently have about 10 of his lipsticks and I don't think I reach for any other ones at all. I highly recommend these.

These are the best liquid lipsticks on the market right now. The color range is amazing and they apply so beautifully. They leave no dry patches, as long as you exfoliate like you should before any liquid lipstick. They last through drinking and kissing and everything. The smell is actually not bad at all which is refreshing. Definitely a must have!

This has to be my favorite liquid lipstick line to date – practically half of my lipstick collection is from Jeffree Star’s Velour Liquid Lipstick. All of his lipsticks come in the same type of tube and applicator. The applicator is tapered to one side at the top which makes it easy to use, and I sometimes use the tip to line my lips when I don’t have my lip liner. The Velour Liquid Lipstick collection has a really good shade range, especially nude shades.

In terms of formula consistency and staying power, it really differs depending on the shade. The formula is light and glides on the lips easily for the nude/light shades, while the formula is thicker and needs more than 1 dip for the darker/richer shades. In terms of staying power, I won’t say that it’s the most long-lasting in the market but it does last me a good 5 to 6 hours if I don’t eat anything oily or if I don’t talk too much. The lipstick looks stunning after it ‘dries’ and does not look or feel dehydrating to the lips which I like. I have a problem with other liquid lippies because they dry out badly on my lips and make it looked really cracked even with lip balm. I don’t have this problem with Jeffree’s liquid lipstick. In saying that, it does not fully dry on your lips so if you press and swipe your finger you would get a bit of color on your skin. This may be a problem when you’re wearing the richer red shades like Designer Blood or Masochist as it tends to transfer to your cups and fingers, especially when you don’t leave them to dry after application.

It doesn’t have a strong smell which I like because my nose is sensitive to strong scents. In fact I don’t smell it at all unless I put the applicator very close to my nose.

I think Jeffree Star's Liquid lipsticks are the absolute best on the market and I've tried a lot of different brands. The colour range is amazing and they don't dry out the lips. The staying power is amazing, they really do last on the lips even after eating and drinking. I also love that they are vegan and cruelty free. These even look great without a lip liner!

I purchased the shade Unicorn Blood from beautybliss.co.nz. I had fairly high expectations for this product based on the hype and the price ($32), but I was certainly not disappointed!

The shade Unicorn Blood is amazing. It's a very dark, highly pigmented red-brown colour that stands out (in a good way) on my pale skin. It's the perfect shade for autumn/winter so I wear it a lot at the moment. I've been trying for a long time to find a perfect red-brown shade that isn't too transparent, and I've finally found it.

I was worried that this liquid lipstick would dry out my lips, as I've had problems with this in the past. Most matte liquid lipsticks become unbearable to wear after a few hours, as I get very dry lips. But I haven't had this problem with Jeffree Star so far. However you will still need to exfoliate and ensure your lips are moisturised before use.

This product doesn't dry as instantly as some other matte liquid lipsticks. I found this to be ideal, as it gives you a chance to fix any mistakes before it dries.

This lasted well throughout the day even when eating and drinking. I only felt the need to touch it up once, after a rather unhealthy/oily lunch. There were no cracks or flaking at all.

I would definitely recommend this product to anyone, and I can't wait to collect all the other shades!

I have been coveting these lipsticks for some time now and finally made my first purchase last month! I am super impressed with them.

Packaging: Straight off the bat, this is the best liquid lipstick packaging I've seen. I love the shorter, fatter tubes and the thick, heavy duty acrylic. They feel high quality and look really nice. I appreciate that the body is clear so that you can see the colour easily, this makes finding colours much more simple. The lid twists with ease and clicks into place so you know it's shut properly, I have had no issue with these leaking even when travelling. The doe foot applicator is one that I haven't really seen before, it's much more thick and fluffy compared to others, it also has a dip in the slanted portion to hold product for application - however I do think these wands pick up too much product and do require wiping off. The wand is flexible but not flimsy and it kind of hugs the curves of your lips, though the size could be an issue for people with smaller lips. Also appreciated is the shade name clearly printed on the bottom of the tube.

Product: Starting with the scent, I have recently seen some people complaining about a bad smell but all of mine have a subtle 'cosmetic' type scent, slightly chemical but not overwhelming and it doesn't linger after application. The texture of the lipstick is quite thin, thinner than I expected but it's not a bad thing. It allows you to apply in thin, even layers to get an opaque finish. It's not too liquid-y in that it will run when applying but it's not like those thicker, more mousse type liquid lipsticks. This formula takes a good minute or so to dry down completely which is nice, it gives you wiggle room to get a perfect application and fix any mistakes. It also isn't sticky! That is one thing I loathe with liquid lipsticks, this one truly does dry down to a velvety matte finish.

Performance: I am glad Jeffree didn't claim for these to be transfer resistant or bullet proof because they certainly are not. This is where it lost some points, not because they are faults in my book but because they are often things people look for in liquid lipsticks. I've found that these fade a considerable amount on the inner lips when eating, oily food or not they do disappear. They do transfer but not significantly, no where near as much as a traditional lipstick. But for me the redeeming factor is that you can reapply over the existing product, so many liquid lipsticks cake up or flake and crumble when reapplied, these do not.

Overall: I am in love! I currently have four shades - Posh Spice, Dominatrix, Abused and Androgyny - and I plan on picking up a couple more and hopefully he'll bring out more beautiful shades! I highly recommend these if you don't mind the shorter wear time, they're gorgeous and surprisingly comfortable for a matte!
