Kiehl's Vital Skin-Strengthening Super Serum Review

I was lucky enough to be part of a trial team, and this was the product I was most excited to use

It comes in a little red glass bottle, with an aluminium cap and plastic pump. The instructions aren't on the bottle, but are on the cardboard box it comes in. The scent on this serum is quite strong, and is quite pleasant.

The serum is quite lightweight and I found two pumps would be enough to cover my face and neck. It goes on smoothly, absorbs quickly, isn't greasy, and doesn't dry too sticky or tacky. It immediately makes your skin feel so soft, so if I was going to bed quite late, I would make sure I at least used this if I was going to forgo moisturiser.

I do feel like this has reduced the size of the pores on my cheeks, and helped with the fine lines on my cheeks when I smile. My skin feels plumper, springier, and the texture is evening out. It also hasn't reacted to the product which is a plus for all sensitive skin owners. I can't wait to keep using this product to see further improvements in my skin.

However, the price point is quite high and after three weeks, twice a day, I have used about a third of the 30ml bottle so if I were to purchase this in future, I'd wait until it's on sale.

I usually find serums hit and miss, especially when they are more natural based. I’ve wasted quite a lot of money on some that just sit on my skin and have had no effect whatsoever.. plenty didn’t even smell nice!

I find they have amazing packaging and presentation I am always drawn to the riccarton mall store - especially at Xmas. I love the look of their products and plenty are on my wish list. It doesn’t look tacky or cheap and looks like it will protect your product from sun etc so would last a while given size and the protection to packaging.

It’s a very fine fluid consistency with a slight cream tinge to it. But I love that it has a pump rather than a dropper as most serums usually seem to have. This viscosity means it spreads and covers very well and is absorbed fast and easily. It doesn’t feel sticky or messy.

The scent is amazing!! It’s definitely a hint of calendula but not the same as the calendula range by weleda for example. It’s more festive which is perfect for this time of year! It reminded me of Xmas with its scent being almost a little like a spice. I love the scent and don’t find it sickly like I have some more natural based serums that are out there.

So I must say out of all the more natural based serums this is one I would repurchase. Why would I pay for a supermarket one that has no effect and smells like our compost bin.. I have fallen into that trap many a times sadly.

This I instantly feel has moisturised my skin for a start. A lot of the benefits are in its protection factors so I guess are not so visible but they are there which is great to know. But the things I have greatly noticed is better skin in general - no breakouts or skin sensitivity, smoother and more radiant skin which is probably a result of the moisture hit this has provided. It feels smoothing on the skin so my dry skin does get a boost, but it has had this tightening/smoothing effect so my skin is looking absolutely amazing! I don’t have to wear a lot of makeup but I have been happy to rock even the no make up! It’s in great condition at the moment.. I even got asked for ID which I can’t put all down to this but I will take it as a compliment for my efforts looking after my skin.

I think this is a perfect serum for my age.. I’m 35 and most natural based products I would have said suit a younger age bracket as I felt they weren’t so effective so really suit someone who doesn’t need much help with their skin.. but this I can see benefiting quite a wide age group with myself included - which I haven’t been able to say about a more natural based product before. Definitely pop into their store for a mooch. They have amazing Xmas packaging this time of year and I have occasionally seen it pop up on sale online 15% off which is also great, I think that was through another website not their own but great to know there are some great stockist out there if you can’t make it in store.

I was excited to try this product as I've heard a lot about hyaluronic acid and its benefits lately. I also have quiet tired and stressed skin, so thought this would offer a good boost! It didn't disappoint. The serum is quite liquid-y and you don't need much to get good coverage of your skin. It glides on and immediately gave my skin a tightening and smoothing feeling. I used the product after my oil cleanse and then the Kiehls calendula toner at night time which seemed to provide a really good clean base. I then used it after cleansing in the morning. I noticed a reduction in some of my enlarged pores and also a much more bright appearance in my skin over the fortnight I used the serum. The only downside for me was the smell - I didn't find it off-putting, but I wouldn't say it was the best thing I've ever smelled either. That's only a very minor critique however. I liked the packaging and the pump bottle - it made for no mess, no fuss application. Will certainly continue to use as I can see benefits and results after only a pretty short time.

Thank you for giving me the chance to try this product, im really enjoying it and i think im seeing results. Love the small but not too small packaging, i find most serums are in tiny little jars and hard to get out but this is a generous size and a good pump and you only need the one pump for your face and neck, it has a slight scent maybe a little chemical but its nothing too strong. Its a nice light texture and a little runny so goes on nice and even and i find absorbs super quick. I leave for a minute or two and then apply the moisturiser. I Think after the first couple of days i noticed a few of my finer lines have smoothed out or disappeared and im liking this product as it leaves your face feeling so nice and soft and used in conjunction with the toner and moisturiser its really nice. A great combo.

I was so excited to trial this my skin has become so dull dry an the fine lines are getting on top of me so I used this after toning and applied to my face and neck after a week oh what a difference I believe this is a SUPER serum it has done wonders for my skin my fine lines are very subtle now my skin is glowing my eyes feel lifted and I am feeling great about the results BUT man it smells bad I was quite taken back by the smell I love to feel abit of indulgence when I do my face I love to sink into the aromas but this serum was something I used while holding my breath! Other than that does what it says and the results are just fantastic really worth a go cause if it can help my skin then it's a top product in my book!

I was super excited to be selected to trial Kiehl’s Vital Skin- Strengthening Super Serum as not only am I no longer a spring chicken, I run a lot so my skin is constantly being exposed to sun, wind and pollution. My normal skin tone is dry /combination and I tend to have uneven skin tone with red cheeks. Kiehl’s Super Serum comes in a small red pump bottle which I like as it means I can get an equal measure each day. Each pump gives enough for good skin coverage. The first thing I noticed was the smell. It’s quite strong and smells very herbal and I was relieved to find out that once you apply the serum to your skin, the smell fades away quickly as I would have been put totally off otherwise!!! The formula goes on smoothly and doesn’t leave your fingers feeling sticky. It sinks into your skin quickly and I was amazed at how smooth my face felt almost immediately after using. I applied the serum to clean skin each morning and night for 2 weeks and have been so impressed with the results. My skin tone has evened out especially in the cheek area and my skin just feels so soft! I have had a few comments about how well rested I look, despite the manic lead up to Christmas which is testament to how healthy my skin is looking.

This skin strengthening serum is just what my skin needs! It protects against stressors including sun exposure, pollution, stress, lack of sleep, diet, and temperature. This serum also visibly reduces fine lines and helps to give glowing, healthy-looking skin. Basically, everything that I need in one little bottle. It is safe to say that I was very excited to use this serum to help address all of the skin concerns that I have and I am happy to say that I was not disappointed.

Firstly, I love the packaging! The red on the bottle looks lovely and the pump top makes it super easy to use and ensures that you get the right amount of product each time.

I used this serum along with Kiehl's calendula herbal extract toner and the Kiehls ultra facial cream so the results in part could be thanks to all three of these amazing products.

The serum is very easy to apply. Just one pump, onto my hands and then applied to my face. it is very light and absorbs in quickly. It smells divine and leaves a very soft feeling on my skin.

My skin has really improved using this serum along with the other Kiehl's products but it would also work wonders under other skincare brands. I have had a testing couple of weeks and normally my skin would really have suffered. While using these products it has actually improved!

I would recommend this serum to anyone who is concerned about aging skin and is looking for a serum to improve the overall radiance of their skin.

Packaging: A basic red pump bottle containing a creamy white somewhat-loose liquid. Very busy label, which seems to be the hallmark of a Kiehl's product. Not an airless pump, but good for touch-free administration.

Use: This product has a herbal-type smell, but not unpleasant. It is nice and light-weight. It doesn't leave a greasy residue, and absorbs quickly into the skin. It sits well under make-up, and layers well with other skincare.

I don't see any miracles from it yet, but I will be persevering because I do like the feeling of it on my skin.

I’ve really been enjoying using this serum night and day. First off, it smells really nice, the natural botanicals in it make it pleasant to use. It soaks into the skin quickly and works well under moisturiser and foundation. I wake up with refreshed looking skin and haven’t actually felt the need to wear foundation as much recently. I think my skincare routine with this serum has made a noticeable difference to how my skin looks.

This serum is really effective. The fragrance is not for everyone though and to be fair I didn't love the smell immediately...rather it grew on me. Its very herbal with notes of citrus.

The feel of the serum is really light. Skin feels instantly hydrated due to the Hyaluronic Acid. This product absorbs fast and is non-greasy. Skin is balanced and imperfections are given a workout. Fine lines become minimized and blurred, skin is plumper without too much effort. After sticking to the routine and applying both am and pm, a radical change in skin texture is achieved. My skin is more even in tone and over all pretty radiant. Great result.

Love the packaging. A pump is always easy to distribute and great for travel too!
