I tried this in a few different ways but really am not a fan of it and I really tried to like it! It does have a nice light fragrance but you can’t smell it when it’s on your face so that’s a bonus. It does apply nicely whether you use the sponge dry or damp. Packaging is cute and the sponge is great to use. Wasn’t really sure in which way to use this as the packaging didn’t really give directions but the L’Oréal website says use dry or you can use the sponge wet to create a cream consistency.
I first tried dry and straight on my face. It applied nicely but straight away my face felt super dry and chalky. The powder accentuated all pores, hairs and lines. It gave little coverage and redness, acne scars were all still obvious. It did apply evenly but with little coverage. Face looked and felt dusty and powdery all day. It did stay on all day but not a fan.
I tried with a primer underneath: Definitely felt less dry but could still feel it when you move your face. Again it shows up and settles in all the lines, pores and hairs and makes them obvious. Still looks chalky.
Tried with a damp sponge: (I had so much hope) Apply nicely and was super smooth. A little more coverage but not by a lot, redness etc still not covered and doesn’t layer very well and turns more powdery/cakey. As the day went on my skin felt drier and drier. It sadly still looks very obvious that I’m wearing powder.
Tried over liquid foundation and was super cakey.
Sadly this was a flop for me and my skin. I wouldn’t compare this to a liquid foundation and wouldn’t recommend. It’s so obvious and powdery on the skin with little coverage and I can’t find a way to like it. It may look nice and even in photos but in natural light it’s a no from me.
I first tried with a dry sponge just straight on my face
I was really looking forward to trialling this powder, I do not have alot of time in the mornings and need something quick, the fact this powder had foundation in a powder made it sound perfect! When I received it I was really impressed by the compact which came with a sponge and a mirror, smaller than other compacts I have used. When I put the powder on my face I was impressed again, it was easy to apply and seemed to have fairly good coverage. I did do another application of powder as felt it wasnt enough. The colour I had was slightly lighter than I would prefer. The whole process was very quick and I held high hopes the powder would last all day but took the compact with me to work just in case. I checked the coverage at lunchtime and saw that shine had come through and it had faded alot. I had re-apply but when I did re-apply it did not glide over my skin like it had in the morning and was very cakey. It looked awful. Unfortunately for me this product did not grip to my skin to provide an all day matte finish without cakeyness. I usually use revlon colourstay liquid and have gone back to using it as it is far superior to this foundation.
