I’m not a huge fan of powders normally, I have slightly drier skin. But this powder provided me with great coverage without leaving my skin cakey or dry-looking. I’ve taken to wearing it way more than I expected too, and often all on its own! Highly recommend.

Normally I'm not the biggest fan of powder foundations, I find them heavy and cakey but this is an exception, it's so light and buttery. It creates a smooth and flawless but light base that you can't really feel sitting on the skin. It fills and blurs your pores so that it looks like you have a filter on. I'm not someone that wears a lot of makeup, so a light foundation always wears off by the end of the day for me. Even though I kept this coverage pretty light I could still see and feeling the smoothing properties of the foundation at the end of the night. It definitely needs a good cleanser to take if fully off. It comes in a great compact with a sponge and mirror underneath, awesome for travel or touch ups! It definitely took me a bit to find the right technique to get that smooth even coverage but once I did, it was great! I tried both the supplied sponge and a powder brush but the best thing for me ended up being the supplied sponge and bouncing/buffing the product onto the skin rather than swiping it over. I do think that the colouring runs quite light, normally I'm a 120 shade in other L'Oréal liquid foundations. But this time I got the True Beige 130 and it is definitely a winter shade for me, needed to add bronzer to match my skin during this time of year. I would say keep your skin really well prepped and moisturised as I did start to see some dry patches, but I have dry skin. All in all I am pretty impressed with this powder foundation and will continue to use it if going for a matte look.
Tips: Use the sponge to "bounce" the product into your skin for a flawless base.
The coverage on this for a powder was insane! I could have bet money from the finish that this would have to come from a liquid. The finish was next to flawless and it wore really well. I wore it on a warmer Dunedin day last week and still felt like my skin could breathe. The matte finish was the final selling point ot left my skin looking smooth and clear with no hint of shine.
Tips: A must have product for your make up bag!
I was very curious to see how this worked, as it sounded great and I love L'Oreal products.
Firstly, it comes in a snappy little compact. The top just lifts up and the product is hard underneath, as you'd expect in a pressed powder. It has a nice smell in the compact that I cannot smell on my skin.
I haven't been using foundation lately and not much else either, due to masks etc, but it has been nice to glam up a bit. And I didn't think trying something heavy on my skin would feel good either, mostly because I have mature skin and do worry about caking with heavier products.
I started by trying the product dry - just patting it on as a powder with a dry beauty blender. It was ok, but I really felt like it needed something under it. Since then I have been applying it with a damp sponge, and it is great. Not too heavy, not too light, and a lovely even coverage. It evens out my skin tone and covers my mild but annoying small red patches, and doesn't irritate my sensitive areas. I don't need concealer either. It just leaves a nice, even, matte finish. I can't think of anything at all negative to say about it.
The shade I got is True Beige and it is ideal for my pale skin tone. It lasts very well, and I can't tell any difference at the end of my working day from when I'd applied it in the morning. Which is of course a huge advantage over the BB cream or tinted moisturiser that I usually use.
I'm very impressed with it, especially as it gives such an even tone without being a heavy product or needing to layered thickly.
Its definitely worth a try and I highly recommend it.
Tips: It works better on clean skin with a primer.
I was intrigued to try a powder foundation and found this smoothed on my skin nicely and it hid all the blemishes well without feeling heavy. It’s packaging is basic, this does help to see the colour you are after and has an applicator. Slightly scented, not noticeable once applied. It was long lasting, got me through a work day in a hot coffee shop. Price wise seemed reasonable for a quality product. I would choose a darker shade next time as it was slightly off but this is no fault of the product. L’Oréal doesn’t disappoint and I would recommend you give a foundation in a powder a try.
I prefer powder foundations over liquid for the convenience of portability. This foundation does a good job with coverage (medium & buildable) and mattifying. I wore this over two different sunscreens and found it to become cakey which is a shame, will have to try with other sunscreen sometime.
Tips: Buildable coverage. Coverage higher when applied with a damp sponge.
So I tried the foundation in true beige colour which may have been a tad light for my coloring. Firstly I tried it using the sponge applicator that comes in the compact and found it looked too light for my skin and I thought it highlighted the fine lines and creases on my face HOWEVER when I applied it using a powder brush, it had quite a different appearance on my skin and didn't seem to light and didn't accentuate the lines on my face. I'm not sure why this made a big difference... maybe I was using too much on the sponge but a brush is definitely my preference for application. This powder lasted all day on my skin even after a heavy, sweaty gym session. Easy to apply and longlasting. At around $40 this powder is good value as would last a few months.
Tips: If you don't like the look it gives you using the sponge applicator then I highly recommend using a brush and applying it that way.
This is a nice foundation, I love that it comes in a great heavy case complete with sponge and mirror in separate compartments. On first use I did find it a bit cakey but it might have been because my shade was slightly too pale for me. Once I warmed it up though with a bronzer and some contour it looked more natural. I wear this over a BB cream and it swipes on nicely. I did find from the start of the day to lunchtime it had changed for the better as my natural oils came through and it had a more of a dewy finish that I liked. I’m not sure I’d agree it was 24h wear if you have combination skin like me and I did find it settled slightly into my forehead lines and was a little visible on my dry patches. While it says the formula is matte I did feel I still had to do an oil blot with a tissue after about 6 hours but that’s normal for me. At 5pm I think it still looked great, covered blemishes and still had a nice base. My normal pressed powder is by Australis and this L’Oreal one is so much better at resisting transfer as I hardly got any on my face mask or marks when I had a white T shirt day. I’d repurchase this one for sure purely for the transfer resistance.
The infallible compact itself was pleasant to look at and easy to use. The large mirror was a nice touch. The product applied easily with the sponge, and felt soft and smooth to glide onto the face. I found the coverage was sufficient and could build with another application - it felt light and breathable. It did last for the day without becoming greasy or wearing off but the finish was a little chalky for my liking.
Tips: Start off light and build coverage for problem areas - surprising good coverage for a light applicaton
This powder foundation comes in a sturdy compact - it'll survive in your handbag!
I used a brush to apply rather than the applicator it comes with - i had to push quite hard to pick up product. It does blend evenly into the skin though.
I was surprised there were only 4 shades in the range but True Beige seemed to work well for me.
It's by no means full coverage, but it does give a nice matte and even base. It didn't sink into my wrinkles and it definitely didn't go cakey.
It lasts the day and doesn't end up looking grubby.
I really enjoyed it, I would use again, but on good skin days. For breakout days I'd need something a bit heavier.
