Tips: Use a small amount mid length to end and work your way up to the roots
I normally only purchase salon brand hair care so was quite reluctant to try this. I found this conditioner a bit too heavy and rich for my fine hair. Despite only using a small amount I found this weighed my hair down and made it quite limp and lifeless.
This conditioner is simply amazing. One of the best ones I have used! Just a small amount applied to the end of my end was enough to make my whole hair silky smooth. It is so creamy and quite thick when it comes out of the bottle compared to most other conditioners I have been using. I will definitely be buying this again perfect for my colour hair and I found it even help get rid of the horrible knots I normally have in my hair after I wash and condition. Works great with the L’Oreal ELVIVE Colour Protect Shampoo as well. Highly recommended
I was super happy with the timing of this trial as I had my colour booked in the same day that this was due to arrive in the post! This meant I could do this with my hair freshly coloured and see if this product really could preserve it.
The packaging is really nice, I think it makes it look like a slightly more expensive product which is always a plus.
This conditioner is so thick and creamy, and feels so nice when you put it in. I love just leaving it in my hair while I do all my other shower stuff, to get the maximum benefit. It washes out well, and like the shampoo, no residue left behind. I have really think hair, and this conditioner is great as it doesn’t weigh my hair down at the bottom – even if I am a bit generous with the product (have always been a conditioner fiend and it always runs out before my shampoo!)
I can still smell the product when I have blow-dried my hair, which is really nice. It feels full and smooth and is definitely more shiny. I have noticed that my hair is still looking as fresh as it did after going to the hair dressers, and I wash my hair EVERY morning, so I think that is a great sign. I feel like my colour is being preserved better than normal, and I will buy this again at the supermarket as it is no more expensive than my normal product – except I will get the bigger bottle.
Tips: Leave this on in the shower while you are doing all your other things, to get the maximum benefit!
A: Two months ago… In late May I had my hair dyed a beautiful ombre from dark brown into dark caramelly blonde on the ends – the most blonde I have had since I was a goldilocked toddler. I immediately noticed that my hair was drier and harder to brush – so I was thrilled to get a place in the Elvive Colour Protect Trial.
Details: Cost? supermarkets sell them for $5 a bottle (not on special)
Packing? The packaging looks expensive - like youve brought it from a salon - everyones gotta love a little luxury!
Smell? Not too purfumey – quite typical of other conditioners
Feel/Consistency? Nice and thick for a conditioner – you can feel all the goodness in the formula when its in your hand (or I imagined I could at least) – reminds me of the consistency of a good conditioning treatment
Results? Only TWO applications of the combo (Shampoo + Conditioner) and I had 3 people in one day say – “hey, did you do something to your hair?” – I was so happy!! I found the conditioner made my hair, shinier, easy to brush, and it must have done SOMETHING to the colour as I had more people notice my ombre than when I had it done in May! My hair is really long so i do need to use more conditioner than shampoo (first world problems) but i will totally buy some more when i run out of my free trial!
3 weeks of using this combo and my hair is so healthy - im looking forward to my next dye job so i can protect the colour with this combo from the very beginning!
Tips: Try and concentrate on the length and ends - this is where conditioner should sit the most!
I have been using this product for the past fortnight. Washing my hair every 2-3 days.
The packaging is beautiful with a red bottle, gold and silver writing. It is an upside down bottle which I love as it makes it easier to get the product out & you can use every last bit of it.
It is a white glossy think consistency with a lovely smell that isn't over powering. My hair smelt lovely for days.
I only needed a small amount and applied it to mid length and ends of my hair. I left it on for around 2-3 minutes, then combed my hair before throughly rinsing.
This conditioner was really easy to rinse out and I absolutely loved how silky my hair felt while washing it out. I couldn't stop touching it :-)
I am very happy with this product and will continue to recommend and use it even though I don't feel that the shampoo and conditoner prolonged my colour but like I said in my shampoo review, red dye is one of the hardest colours to prolong.
The shampoo and conditoner combined definitely prolonged the radiance of my hair as it has been a lot more shinier compared to other products I've used so overall, I am happy yet disappointed that it didn't prolong my colour but it may work perfectly for other colours though?
Tips: Only use a small amount and apply to mid and the ends. Run a comb through before rinsing to help de tangle knots.
To do a really test on this product, I coloured my hair 2 days prior to receiving the shampoo and conditioner. My hair is brown, but I have a lot of white hair especially around my temples and face. In the past when I coloured my hair, the white hair only holds onto the dye for a maximum of 2 washes. With this shampoo and conditioner, the colour lasted 8 washes before the white came through again. So while it didn’t keep the colour of the dye for long, it did keep it coloured for 75% longer than other hair products.
I would continue to use this product.
I really liked this product, to test this out my hair had recently been streaked blonde which does usually tend to fade out nicely as it grows.
This product had a nice thick consistency which was great to leave on my hair for a few minutes without dripping off. I only needed a small amount of this product. This conditioner left my hair smooth and easy to brush. It also left my hair feeling lightweight and not weighed down.
The packaging was nice and sleek and looks lovely in my shower, the lid is easy to open. This product smells amazing and very much like a salon conditioner, the scent also lasts through to when my hair is dry.
I don't think this conditioner fully protected my colour but it hasn't faded as much as when I use other shampoos and conditioners do.
Tips: A little amount of this product goes a long way
Leave on for a couple minutes
I was really pleased to be chosen to trial the L'Oreal Elvive Colour Protect Conditioner.
To begin with I was pleasantly surprised with the scent of the conditioner. It wasn't overpowering and wouldn't compete with the other fragrances you wear by the time you put on your moisturiser, deodorant, perfume etc. The conditioner is light in consistency and I was really pleased to find that you actually don't need to use much to get a great coverage, making it economical. I left the conditioner on for around 3 -4 minutes before rinsing off, although there weren't any instructions on the bottle to do so. The conditioner rinses out easily. The result left my hair feeling soft and manageable.
Post wash all I do to style my hair is use an Argan oil product. I found that the combination of using the L'Oreal Elvive Colour Protect Shampoo and Conditioner with the oil makes styling my hair really easy, and what's more it stays in fantastic condition for days, not having to straighten my hair in between washes, so I am really pleased with that result.
The product promises to seal colour, protect hair and prolong radiance. I feel like it delivered on most of those. The first time I used it I was a bit annoyed to see some of my colour in the foam that rinsed off. Each application since has taken a bit more of my colour with it, but to be fair to this product this may be more about the colouring product I used, rather than the shampoo and conditioner. I would need to use a different colour to be able to know for sure, so I wouldn't want to blame the Elvive for this, but still mention it as a possible observation that still needs to be resolved.
At my supermarket the shampoo and conditioner retail for $6.59 each and I think that is excellent value for money for the product, and on that basis I would definitely purchase and use it again.
Tips: Leave the conditioner in for 3 - 4 minutes before rinsing well.
I love this conditioner. Having used it everyday over the last few weeks my hair is softer it's easier to detangle after washing and looks shiny and smooth.
Tips: A little goes a long way! Again you only need a small amount the size of a finger nail and put this through the ends maybe take it through the middle third with you fingers.
