I've just about used up my bottles of Elvive colour protect shampoo and conditioner, and my hair is feeling VERY hard and tangled as I was I each time, and also my hair has been more tangled throughout the day - usually I have no tangle issues. My colour has been fine, it hasn't faded out (just the good old regrowth coming through!), but I'm not happy about the condition my hair has been left in. Hoping it comes right when I switch products!

this product is very disappointing after all the hype i expected much better. my hair never benefited from this product, and never became more shiney and healthy
I dye my hair alot and have been looking for a shampoo and conditioner that would help prolong the colors I put in my hair, I was very disappointed. The shampoo made my hair tangled and knotty while the conditioner untangled it but just felt like a normal comditioner, I wont be using the shampoo again. I had high expectations for this product because they have a good range of products.
I have been using this over the last week and have found this enough time to come to my verdict on both the shampoo and conditioner. It’s not bad but I wouldn’t use it all the time as it’s not really adding anything to my hair condition that my normal shampoo/conditioner combination is, if anything it’s made it a little bit drier and frizzy.
Shampoo – I do love the design of the bottle and its pretty intense red packaging its lovely and bright in the bathroom, the bottle is easy to grip hold off which is great for in shower use, no one wants to be dropping it and then playing chase the bottle around the floor. Its formula is a nice even thick consistency that doesn’t run out excessively so you don’t use too much at once, it does foam up quick and easy too. It has a soft understated fragrance that isn’t overpowering. After rinsing out my damp hair does take on a slight straw like texture and had found that I was left with tangles of my hair in my comb that I use in the shower. As for colour protection if anything I feel as if my roots have become more visible over the last few days where I wouldn’t normally see them until a week out from retouch time, I’m still 2 weeks away from that! So its claim to hold the colour in your hair for longer never really came to light on my thick mane.
Conditioner – Again the design of the bottle is great and has matching packaging/labels as the shampoo, but as it stands on its lid it isn’t very hard to tell if you’re picking up the shampoo or conditioner bottle, which is handy! The formula is extra creamy and thick that it splattered into my hand first use, but I got used to this and found that only a 50c piece was enough for my thick hair. It worked through with a comb really easy and put pay to the straw hair effect left from the shampoo. As with all conditioners I left it in for about 5 minutes as I took care to other matters in the shower then rinsed it out, after a squeeze through the towel it seemed to be ok, but as the day went on and it air dried it did get very frizzy even with the use of my normal styling products.
Overall it’s a good fill in shampoo and conditioner combo but I won’t be making the permanent change to this from my normal set, it just doesn’t suit to my hair type I guess my mane is posh! Lol
To be totally honest, l would never have bought this, myself. My Mum gave it to me so I used it, but never again. The conditioner is relatively good, in that your hair is detangled, but the organics i use feel far better and do a better job. The shampoo contains sls (sodium laureth/lauryl sulphate) which us a cheap foaming agent which dehydrates your scalp and hair. It left my hair frizzy and annoying, and the roots greasy. I didn't find the colouur lasted any longer, but to be fair, I only used the one lot before I went back to organic, simply because it leaves my hair softer, shinier, less tangled and generally looking better while not dehydrating my hair and scalp.
Tips: While I would not say these products are fabulous they are, better than your average, cheaper shampoos and conditioners, but I do prefer my sls free products. If you're after something better quality than most supermarket products, but don't want to shell out for salon products, these could be a step up. Be aware though, if you're prone to oily scalp/greasy hair, sls in your hair products may be the culprit!
