For the record, I'm normally a Pantene girl who switches to Dove every so often. My hair is down near my waist, and I use roughly 5x times as much conditioner than shampoo - because I feel thats the important part, or I used to before I started being more adventurous with recolouring my hair. Currently I have a ruby red base colour, and put through a reverse ombre streaking so im blonde on the top..and on the blonde, I have electric blue. It takes a lot of effort and money to maintain colour in my hair now, so a colour protect shampoo is just what I need. And protect colour it does!! The blue in my hair is supposed to be a 6-8 wash out rinse. Hmmmm.. its still bright blue months later! My previous shampoo, whenever I washed my hair it would be carnage in the bathroom. Blue shampoo foam all over the shower, and I'd have to scrub the floor afterwards as it would leave blue residue on the tiles. This product is still a little bit of that, but no where near as much coming out! So definitely does what its supposed to. Its not too harsh either, I generally need to double shampoo to get my hair clean as my hair is so thick and I don't feel like its stripped of oils.

I don't typically go for shampoo & conditioner that can be found in the supermaket just because I've never really come across one that I love and doesn't dry my hair out. I have very thick, naturally wavy/curly hair that has been dyed countless times and is currently purple so I really need a product that doesn't strip too much natural oil from my hair, colour and add moisture.
I have been pleasantly surprised at how soft my hair has felt using this shampoo, I don't feel at all like it has been drying to my hair and it has done a reasonable job of not stripping the colour from my hair compared to other shampoo brands I've tried. I do have to admit it has taken out more dye than what my usual shampoo & conditioner would but they are sulfate free which I feel plays a big part in that. The packaging is great, stands up well in the shower and will be easy to get all of the product out of. The scent to me is kind of florally, nothing amazing but nothing unpleasant either.
Although I don't think this will replace my current shampoo, I will be keeping a bottle on hand as a spare to travel with and for if I run out of my more expensive product.
I’ve waited til the very last minute to submit my review as I really wanted to give both of these products a really good go so ditched my normal shampoo and conditioner and have exclusively been using these products for the last 2 weeks (and still have some left in each bottle).
First off - the shampoo: It comes in a nice, easy to use bottle. I think its designed to sit upright with the lid on the top but as this part is flat I’ve been keeping it upside down so its always ready to use.
I really love the smell of the shampoo. Its an appley/ fruity scent that’s not too overpowering and makes your hair smell good the day after you’ve used it. It lathers up really easily so you don’t need to use too much and it leaves your hair feeling fresh and clean.
The conditioner is where is all goes wrong for me. It doesn’t smell as nice as the shampoo and I found that within a few days my hair was looking oily/ dirty which never happens with my normal shampoo. This meant that I was having to wash my hair every couple of days instead of twice a week so that also meant that I ended up losing more colour that I normally would.
Overall, I think it’s a good backup product and one that I’d buy to take away on holiday when I don’t want to take a giant bottle. I’ve found that you get what you pay for with hair products so for something around the $8 - $10 mark you cant have super high expectations.
Tips: Store the shampoo upside down so you always have product handy :)
I decided to try this shampoo because I was sick of my highlights looking yellow a day after toning them and because I few people I know in the hair industry use L'Oreal themselves.
I am pretty sold as far as the colour lock in goes. My highlights are staying white blonde without toning for longer and not going brassy as quickly.
In terms of deep nourishment, my hair still looks the same (a little dry) but feels slightly softer.
Valuewise, L'Oreal is often slightly more expensive than many of the shampoo brands with the same litreage. But this is the first hair product to impress me in a while, so for now I think I'll stick with it.
I purchased this from the supermarket at a low price of about $5 to $6. Nice attractive large red bottle and the shampoo has a pleasant but not overpowering scent. Creamy white product that lathers well. I had my hair coloured about two months ago and it hasn't faded much yet. My hair felt clean healthy and shiny with no noticeable colour fade. Would recommend for a budget friendly colour lock shampoo.
Tips: Use with matching conditioner.
Just from the first wash i noticed a difference! Even in the shower my hair felt really soft and nice! The shampoo also smelt really nice with a thick texture. I would recommend all the ladies out there to try this shampoo out if you have coloured hair!
Tips: Leave it on for at least a minute before washing it off! It makes the hair feel softer!
I am very impressed with this product. I use colour to cover my greys so am keen to protect and nourish my hair against harsh chemicals. I have used it once and put a normal amount into my hair. I could have used half. It was very concentrated. I also used the conditioner. That night, for the first time ever, several people remarked on the shininess of my hair. I was blown away. I recommend this product and will buy it in future
This shampoo smells like a sweet candy that I can't quite put my finger on. I started with a small amount, which went a long way. At first, I thought it was going to be very foamy and create a lot of bubbles but it didn't. It cleaned my hair and left it fresh for a couple of days. From what I've experienced, it's just as good as salon products but just at a more affordable price!
Tips: Focus on the roots when shampooing your hair, and don't wash your hair every day. Leave it to wash every couple of days, for example.
I like to use a pricey silver shampoo with a supermarket conditioner, but I definitely have noticed some fading on my dark roots (I have a reverse ombre). This conditioner was super gentle on my coloured hair, and also left my brittle blonde ends feeling soft and nourished. I used this conditioner daily for a week (along with the shampoo), and definitely noticed a difference in the condition of my hair, with no noticeable fade in my brunette. A great alternative to pricey salon conditioners if your coloured hair needs a little TLC.
Tips: Smells amazing! Definitely check this out if you like luscious smelling locks.
The product claims to preserve your hair after 28 washes but I can't say this is true or not as im not one to wash my hair 28 time in the period of two weeks. But I did try it a couple of times!
When it comes to washing my hair I like to use a range of shampoos one being a colour protect shampoo as i regularly am dying my hair blonde.
When I first opened the bottle I was surprised to see the shampoo was not purple as most shampoo I have used are but them I realized that the Loreal shampoo is targeted toward all hair types not just blondes.
I was a little bit skeptical at first as my hair is something I really take care of and I find my self reaching for more high end hair products as they don't tend to make my hair oily as fast.
After my first use I was pretty impressed. First the products smells amazing! and my hair was very soft. But the product did make my hair very flat and it seemed to be lacking volume. When it came to oil I didn't need to wash my hair any more then I had to with my other shampoos which was a big plus for me.
Over the next couple of uses my color was staying nice and blonde and no brassy tones were to be found!
I recommend this product if you are looking for a nice cheap colour protecting shampoo. I have found better high end ones on the market, but for a drug store product it is good.
