Packaging: I do like the fact that this is a squeeze tube rather than a pump bottle as I feel like I’ll be able to get the product out more easily when it is running low.
The lid twists off easily, even when your hands are nice and slippery from the primer that you’ve just ’smooshed’ all over your face because you were way too lazy to wash your hands between steps…
Product: This is a very runny foundation, to the point that when I am putting the lid back on the tube I can feel it running slightly across the back of my hand, though thankfully it hasn’t managed to escape onto the floor yet. (I squeeze it onto my hand by the base of my thumb and then dab it over my face, or use the beauty blender directly from the back of my hand.
SPF: I like the fact that it has SPF 15 in it, and it didn’t feel heavy on my skin throughout the day. I successfully avoided getting sun burnt at Electric Avenue.
It goes a surprisingly long way, and doesn’t leave me with a greasy feeling, and I don’t think it highlights the dry patches on my nose too much either. It does seem to have a nice finish, while still letting me keep a more natural look and didn’t transfer onto my hands when I touch my face (which is seriously all the time).
Coverage: this is described as medium coverage and I would agree with that. It did a really good job of covering the acne I’ve got on my chin at the moment as well as a blemish on my cheek in a really obvious place just below my cheekbone..
Lasting: Applied with a damp beauty blender over a base of Australis Primer, and then a mattifying powder pressed over top it lasted me from 2pm to midnight at the electric avenue music festival in Christchurch. I didn’t feel like it was going to slide off my face at my dance classes, and it didn’t transfer onto any clothing( yay!). It also still looked ok after I'd removed my motorbike helmet on two rides yesterday.
Touch ups: So I may have had a disastrous (not exaggerating) eyeliner experience where I had to remove the attempted wing from my left eye 4 times (I kid you not, it was horrific). I was able to very easily fix this area with foundation again without it looking super obvious and it easily covered the associated redness from trying to remove the darn eyeliner in the first place.
Application: I had one day that it felt weird to apply and wasn’t behaving the way I wanted to, I realised I’d forgotten to dampen my beauty blender and that totally fixed the problem… so that was user error.
100% loving this and haven’t touched another foundation since I received this trial.
In a compact plastic tub L’Oreal claims some enticing qualities for me including: broad spectrum SPF, hydrating, up to 24 hr, radiant finish & having a air light texture. I usually would be drawn but with being Pro-Glow too I’d give it a miss....I have been proven wrong. I would be concerned about the thin nature settling into my fine lines but it didn’t any more than any other foundation.
I am not a lover of “glow”, I do prefer matt. I can describe the glow as more natural which has been a refreshing look during these hot days so am 100% proven wrong. I see they have a matt version in the line too so will try that one during the cooler months.
It complimented the L’Oreal Revitalift Laser X3 Serum which I use as a primer.
During weekend just one layer with just mascara and lip gloss, looked so casual but photo happy. Weekday two layers & a little more time with blush etc... Was surprised too how it gave me that great in-between look, again lasted fine for the day.
I was also delighted at how easy it was to apply down jaw line with no streaking etc...
I wouldn’t describe it as air light but more on the thin side & was surprised that I could apply with my finger tips. It didn’t come out of the tube too quickly (which I thought it might be quite thin). Absorbed very quickly into skin and a little went a long way. I did think the tube seemed small but looking at some of my other foundations 30ml is standard. This packaging is simple and slim, no pump so I’ll be able to utilise every last drop. A great take away size....sometimes it’s just the simple things that get my tick (so annoying with larger glass bottles when going away).
Wouldn’t work for an evening look but happy to have it in my cupboard. Especially quick and easy to pop on if you are having one of those “rush out quickly” mornings.
Thanks BeautyReview for sending review my way, I am especially enjoying L’Oreal at the moment and find the table breakdown on back of their packaging quite handy. It indicates Finish, Wear time, Coverage and Texture.
Tips: Shake well before use & best applied with fingers or/& a blending sponge (didn't work that good with my brush).
