L'Oreal Paris ELVIVE Smooth Intense Anti-Frizz Serum

Well I have used Moroccan Oil before and have never liked it so I was a bit nervous about using this one. Thankfully I loved it!

It came in a small container that has a pump top. I used two small squirts which was plenty for my short hair. The texture was very thin so be careful not to drip it on the floor. I rubbed it between my hands and then flicked my hands over the ends of my hair only as was wanting to deal to those drier frizzy ends. Well, they really tamed those babies down and I ended up with a lovely tame wave. I did not scrunch my hair with my hands as I think it would be too much product for my fine hair.

It was also a delightful smell that lingers throughout the day. I don't know if it would have lasted 48hrs like the label said as I always wet and condition my hair every 2nd day. But after saying that, my hair definitely was more manageable the second day and easy to comb.

I was very fortunate to be selected to trial this (Thanks BR!). I say fortunate because I have the ultimate frizz mop! Yes, my hair is thin and wavy at its natural best… But boy oh boy it is one hellova frizz mop more often than not.

My first impression when I pulled this out of the courier bag was wow! The box is a pretty orange sleek design and the instructions are on it. The bottle itself is very easy to use, just twist the pump, pump one – one and a half pumps of the serum and twist to close.

I first tried this at night after I washed my hair. The smell to me was very pleasant and fruity. The consistency is what you’d expect, a slightly thick oil. I ran the oil through my towel dried locks and went to bed, hoping for the best… When I woke up I was surprised! My hair looked shiny and felt soooo soft and there was NO FRIZZ!!! I was quite elated!!! Roll on Good Hair Day!!

Fast forward to my next hair wash, I forgot to put the oil in my hair afterwards, so decided to try on my dry hair. I have to say the result wasn’t as good as when my hair was wet. I still had noticeable frizz, although it did leave my hair shiny.

Overall I really love this product. My hair really benefited from this product and I would definitely recommend to anyone with frizz problems. I will be buying this once my bottle runs out. NEW LOVE!!

I was so underwhelmed by this. It's admittedly not terrible and does have it's positive points (the amazing smell for one) but I won't be repurchasing and I expected more.

I've been using coconut oil to tame frizz but there was a buy 3 for $15 promotion OK Elvive at Countdown so thought I'd give this a go as sometimes it's a fine line between soft and shiny and greaseball with coconut oil.

The product is very slick textured. I feel like it sticks to my hands more than my hair which I don't like and haven't had from a product before. It takes a full wash to remove it and you definitely can't get away with not washing hands after.

It performed OK I guess but I've used other supermarket serums that were much better and coconut oil far exceeds it. My hair is in great condition for a bottle blonde and it struggled to tame my very limited frizz so am unsure how it would fare on anyone with serious frizz.

The Loreal anti-frizz serum had a very light consistency but a little bit on the greasy side it took a little bit of washing my hands to get rid of the residue left behind. It was really easy to apply unlock the pump by turning it (arrow on the top in case you forget which way to turn it) and pump into your hands. Lock it again by turning the other way after use, this was great as it meant no spillage/leakage into my makeup bag !. I really liked the fragrance of this anti-frizz serum it reminds me of being at the hairdressers it’s not overpowering in any away but leaves your hair smelling nice and clean and fresh. I didn’t need a lot of this product at all on my hair, I have quite fine thin hair but just a lot of it. The instructions say that to pump several pumps of serum into the palm of your hand and for longer hair more serum may be required. My hair is long and I found a couple of pumps was too much for my hair, it weighed it down too much and it made it a bit greasy. I found I only needed to use one pump as a little really did go a long way. The instructions say that it will give you 48 hours protection from frizz and humidity/dry weather, this was quite true in my case (we haven’t really had any dry weather but humidity definitely and rain !!). I would put this on after washing my hair in the morning , I found this product worked much better in my hair when it was damp and I would either blow dry or leave it to air dry, in both instances it tamed my flyaways/frizz until the next wash at least. I wash my hair most days now unfortunately due to going to the gym in the morning so it was used daily after my wash. Given that you don’t need to use a lot of this product this is ideal for me having to use it every day without breaking the bank !. I didn’t find the packaging anything particularly special however this doesn’t really bother me as its shoved into the bottom of my travel makeup bag anyway so the outward appearance doesn’t bother me on this one. The pump is secure and I had no leakages into my bag so I am one happy camper with that ! there is nothing worse than finding product at the bottom of your bag and over your other items. After using the product every day for a week –I would say it did do what it claimed for me , it keep my flyaway’s at bay, tamed the frizz and left my hair feeling soft and looking shiny and manageable until the next wash (it was a lot easier to style – straighten and tie up it was more pliable and co-operative than usual). It does also say on the instructions that you can apply to dry hair for more intense shine however I found this didn’t work for me (it definitely made it shiny) but it made my hair to slick and greasy…but I do have quite fine hair so it can’t handle many products in it dry. I would definitely recommend this to a friend. Its affordable, will last forever and left my hair feeling better than when it started.

This is the star out of the Smooth Intense range!

I was initially surprised at how wet and un-gloopy it was, it pumped out easily and *splat* there it was in my hand, I gave it three pumps for good measure before applying it to my towel-dried shoulder-blade length hair (avoiding the scalp area as I didn't want it to look greasy on the top of the mop.)

I let my hair air-dry while it was out (something I never do, normally it goes in a bun immediately to contain the frizz) and what I was left with was much more defined curls and waves, with little to no frizz! There was a bit of frizz up top as usual due to not using the serum there, but not as much as usual thanks to the shampoo. As part of my 'tests' another day I straightened my hair once it had dried and it was easier to straighten and looked lovely and straight and it stayed that way despite it being a muggy Auckland day - amazing! Usually it boofs up in seconds!

Does it last 48 hours? Pretty much! I tie my hair up when I go to bed, so the next day there are some kinks, but it still looks smoother compared to non-serum days.

Can't recommend this enough!

I like this product. It's affordable and helps my hair from looking dull and lifeless. Though, I feel like it doesn't tame my frizz at all. It also feels extremely oily if i apply it on my dry hair. I prefer to add it onto my hair when it's still wet for the best effect. Not the best product for hair serum but It's still pretty decent.

I am quite a fan of this product! Firstly, it is reasonably inexpensive. The packaging is great, and the pump dispenses the right amount of product and is easy to 'lock'. I love the texture, it is really light! I found this really easy to rub off my hands as well, which is good when you are in a hurry. Onto the product itself, it makes my hair so soft! It does reduce frizz, but not as much as I had hoped. However, the amount of softness it gives my hair, and the shine, means that I will be definitely repurchasing. Now I just need to find a good anti-frizz product!

This serum comes in a plain kinda cheap looking plastic bottle with a very handy pump top. I love that you can twist the top around to lock it - no more oily serum over everything in your bag! I have had that happen so many times when travelling so this is a big plus.

As for the actual serum, the smell is quite pleasant and it's very light and non-greasy. It doesn't weigh my hair down at all or make it look gross and oily. I have long dry frizzy hair so a good anti frizz serum is a must for me, and this one does the job pretty well. I apply a tiny bit after a shower and a bit more when it's fully dry. You only need one small pump, if you use too much then your hair will inevitably get oily and lank.

Will I buy this again? Probably, if I don't find anything better. It's a good product but not amazing.

I've got long, thick hair that lately has been acting very frizzy and quite unruly. I've been trying all kinds of oil treatments in a desperate attempt to get some moisture and condition back into it, so I was pretty happy to be selected for this trial - although, I have to admit, I wasn't super excited because I wasn't expecting big results from a cheap retail product. Firstly I tried it on dry hair, more precisely, my flyaways. It kind of left some overly shiny patches and I had to wash my hands twice with dishwashing liquid to try to get the residue oil off.. we really weren't off to a flying start with this product. Next I used it on damp hair, towel dried straight out of the shower. I put about 6 pumps total through my hair (its about waist length and thick), not really knowing what to expect I just let it dry naturally. All I can say is despite my initial reservations about the product - using it on damp hair is amazeballs! My hair feels silky, its not frizzy at all, my flyaways are a bit more tame.. generally VERY impressed!

I'd totallystay away from applying to dry hair, except as a leave in hair treatment. Its super shiny and tends to look patchy.

These products just smell so amazing you want to eat them. Are you sure they're for your hair? I have just below the shoulder length hair with waves and curls and frizz and I only needed 1-2 pumps. I put it in my hair after washing it which made my hair even more weightless and gave my hair more shine and smoothness. When I put it in my hair after it had dried, I overused product, I only needed 1 pump at the max as it made my hair a little too shiny, almost making it have a wet/oily look. With the 48 hour protection, I think it would work as I can only go a maximum 36 hours between washing my hair as my hair is naturally quite oily.
