I really wanted to love this I was determined this would be my new big thing for my eyebrows.
I had overplucked my eyebrows at highschool much to my mum’s horror and they never recovered. I have tried all sorts of things pencils, gels, powders but because I’m quite fair and my eyebrows are quite a weird shade of dark blonde light blonde a lot of things tend to look really overdone on me so when this au natural brow gel popped up – jackpot !.
This came in a mascara shaped tube with a spoolie at the end. I prepped my brows by running a eyebrow brush over them just to pull them in line and thought I would try this on its own first. I did a sneaky swatch on my hand because I just needed to see the colour in a hurry haha – I did get a fright and was a bit scared to put this on my brows it was a goldy based light brown/blonde but it looked like it had shimmer so I was quite worried I was going to look ridiculous with shiny disco eyebrows.
However this was a different story when applied directly to my eyebrows. It was really easy to just quickly run over your eyebrows and the colour was actually perfect for me. No sign of the disco shimmer and it did dry to a matte finish so this was perfect. The only real issue I had was the fact that due to my over plucking I have incredibly thin eyebrows so the spoolie that came with this wasn’t really ideal for me. I decided to use my own smaller spoolie which worked much better for me. It’s a much more natural look than how I usually would do my brows but I loved it a fresh groomed look without looking to made up.
I did also try this over my usual routine of using the billion dollar brow pencil and this just gave it some extra oomph and a really nice finish.
It didn’t rub off over the day or smear or run, it held on until I removed it at night before I went to bed and removed easily with my ZA oil cleanser.
For $20.00 I will definitely be buying this again.
I was lucky enough to pick this up in the Beauty Vault. I have red hair (but fairly dark brown brows), and they only had blonde in the Vault, but I thought it'd be worth a shot. I'm really glad I got this product. My previous brow routine was to comb my brows upwards with a spoolie + hairspray, and then spend 10 minutes carefully filling them in with a powder. Now (for daily wear) I spend 30 seconds with the L'Oreal Brow Plumper and I'm done. The packaging for this is pretty basic, it's just like a mascara tube, but it looks nice. The colour of the product is quite gold and shiny, but it actually turned out to be the perfect colour for my brows, as it makes them look super natural (they normally look quite dark with powder). You apply it with a little wand, if you have thin brows or an unsteady hand you probably want to invest in a smaller wand. My brows are pretty full already so it's fine. One coat is fine for this product, it dried pretty firm so can get clumpy if you try and put more on. I applied it by brushing my brows upwards (make sure you keep them trimmed if you apply like this) and it does an excellent job of filling in any gaps in my brows and setting them in place when I get a nice shape. One drawback is that it only really works in the areas you have hair, so I sometimes have to finish the tail of my eyebrows with a powder. It stays in place all day, and you will need a make up remover to get all the fibers off. I will definitely be purchasing this product again, it's made my daily makeup routine so much quicker and more natural looking. I probably wouldn't use this on its own if I wanted fancy makeup, but pair it with a powder or pencil.
Tips: Until you get used to applying this, do your eyebrows before your base - it's very easy to overdo it and stain your skin. If you have thin brows, apply it by brushing outwards, and if you want thicker brows apply it by brushing upwards.
